What's coming up in Darktide

Would love to have more tools to work with:

  • new characters
  • new weapons
  • new talents
  • other forces of chaos?
  • more lore progression?
  • deeper into the hive?

Something that completely shakes up the game, you know? Yeah, I know, it’s a tall order. But it’s wishful thinking nonetheless.

To add to that, whenever new maps come out, the choice of maps is DRASTICALLY reduced as in the normal mission board a slot in each difficulty is lost to the new map, and the map pool for maelstrom increases.

Otherwise it is good to hear anything about the future, but I’ll wait and see.

Pretty much how I’m thinking about things too. I’m happy that they’re going to do something about it, but they have a poor track record of doing anything really substantive. I hope it’ll turn out well.

I second this. I think that this post was a MASSIVE step in the right direction for Fatshark.

This is great news. I’m looking forward to seeing where this goes.

Please keep us updated with any new developments on these or anything else you’ve got planned!

Hyperbole to the Nth degree. I’m not going to defend the garbage monetization or the frequent foul ups and many missteps Fatshark has taken during development, but saying that they “did not deserve the 40k IP” is just hilarious when GW will sell the license to any company willing to pay their fee.

Have you seen how many garbage mobile games are made under the 40k IP? Hell out of nearly 60 games that have come to see the light of day, how many are actually worth the time/cost of playing?

I’ll help you out: it’s maybe a heaping handful.

Boltgun, Dawn of War (MAYBE DOW2, certainly not 3), Space Marine (sequel’s on the horizon finally), Mechanicus & Rogue Trader (also riddled with bugs and narrative issues galore), Darktide… these few out of 59 games.

Yes, I’m including Darktide in the short list of 40k titles worth the time and cost… Fatshark can and hopefully will turn the game around, but even for what we have the environment sound and feel ooze dedication to the source material.

You’re right in that this is way too little too late for many folks (obviously you among them), but coming in here and acting like Darktide isn’t better than most of the garbage produced under the 40k IP is pretty rich.

The fact that saying literally ANYTHING to us is being lauded as a “massive step” is truly an indication of the level of Stockholm syndrome present within our little community.

It has gotten pretty bad. I just hope that announcements like this one right here become more common, if that makes sense. Communication of this nature is what we have been asking for as a community.

As for any kind of Stockholm Syndrome, I’m just very lonely

Instead of beating around the bush trying to introduce all these new crafting/itemization systems to negate the atrocious amount of RNG that you put into the game, just remove the locks.

Here’s a thought… What if Melk offered a pack of aquilas as a reward alongside the weapons that are never buff enough to actually choose?

Doesn’t have to be a huge amount but letting people save up for premium garb through relentless grind seems fair.

NEW Weapons ASAP with next Patch.
Thnx FS, appreciate it!

I mean, it does, because if regular auric were enough to keep your attention then you would give infinitely less of a crap about maelstrom.

I’ll be real with you, I can’t imagine Fatshark fully opening up missions/maps/modifers to be freely selected, the number of combinations that are possible with that are probably at least a thousand, and if they introduce more maps and modifiers then we will reach tens of thousands of different combinations. I don’t believe Fatshark sees that as compatible with free select due to issues with finding games and player diffusion.

You and me both know this game’s player count dies between content updates.

Fortunately there is an answer as we saw when we were fiending over Hi5STG before the mission board update: Just put more goddamn slots on the board. Either give Auric 4 Maelstrom slots, or put Maelstrom modifiers on regular Auric missions.

More slots means thinning out players, too.

Better: Have different modifiers hard coded to appear at a minimum rate. At least one Hi5STG. At least one Lights out. At least one “mass enemy spawn”. At least one “Assault”. If of every type one appears, the selection will be wide enough.

three months without updates to hear this… That is, new content in the form of weapons, maps, and certainly not a class in the next few months is not expected again, class. About the twin bosses that die of boredom, I’m already silent in general, only rejoiced in the plot movement, as the game was forgotten for 3 months spoiling everything with this

We got the classes with the Tree update. Archetypes were never promissed

For me personally new weapons will only be interesting after the itemisation rework. Before that I won’t bother to gamble for new stuff.

Well, in the context of what @korznik wrote (I assume you were replying to him?), we have and always have had 4 classes. They were going to release additional classes on a regular basis (source).

It’s true that the trees have opened up the ability to take variants of those classes in the way that they made multiple Bardins/Sienna et al. in VT2. But a new class in itself would still be nice. I didn’t like my second zealot very much anyway, so happy to nuke him!

Yes, as in the tree update opened what was gonna be 2 new classes per archetype. The tree is composed of 3 classes, the old one and 2 new ones.

We don’t know whether or not they’ve closed the door on having more branches and/or new archetypes.

And it’s difficult to know for sure when people mention that, cause a lot of people confused the Archetypes/Classes initially (So some people were saying that we would get a new archetype every 3 month, so 3-6 VA, new models, new abilites…).

So if the question here is will we get new branches, we don’t know, and while I would want that (Zealot Enforcer; Ogryn Pit Fighter) I don’t think it’s something that should happen in priority right now.
