While I appreciate the penance update (#18), I’m really holding out for the anticipated crafting (ahem itemization) update. For me, it will be the make or break moment in Darktide. And if it fixes things, I’ll finally be okay with changing my steam review to positive (for what that’s worth).
Moreover, I have half a dozen people that are waiting by the side that “want to play” but are so turned off by the current crafting system that they won’t touch DT until it’s improved. Even more people I know interested in buying it, but are skeptical and likewise waiting because they hear bad things about the progression system.
The earlier communication on this suggest a positive direction. But we’ll see. I really hope we start to hear more soon and get a dev diary soon as well. @FatsharkQuickpaw@FatsharkCatfish any word on a timeline for this patch or even an update about the direction of changes?
What are peoples’ thoughts about when this update will land? Optimistically, I’d love to see it in June in time for the summer.
History would suggest they can’t do it before summer.
But it needs to land before summer. The penances were neat and all, but there needs to be maps, new weapons, new balancing to keep this thing alive.
Considering it would be counterintuitive and frustrating to have new weapons or huge balance changes before crafting, that means crafting needs to come ASAP.
I’m not really holding out hope, though. The glacial speed of updates, lack of new maps, etc suggests to me only a very small team is working on Darktide.
you guys are gonna scream like babies if it’s not a full crafting overhaul that gives you everything, aren’t you.
man i hope the CMs spot this problem coming and do a month forum ban for everyone railing against crafting the day before to minimize the doomposting. not like any of you’ll stop playing or posting regardless.
I’d assume late July or early August. Gotta factor in summer holidays.
Maps and weapons are crucial to be honest. Alternatively I’d love the option to start private custom Maelstrom runs. This alone would probably get my entire premade group back into the game.
It will most likely occur in mid to late August. I hope you enjoy penances, since that is all the stuff you will need to quench your hunger for fresh things to do in Darktide. Fatshark is devoting an unbelievable amount of resources to a new project in the Unreal Engine and the ongoing development of important improvements. Vermintide 2 diverts significant resources away from the development of Darktide.
If the itemization patch fails, Fatshark may decide to discontinue development of Darktide. I mean, this upgrade barely scrapped 10,000 top players, and it will only become worse from here after people realize there will be no new stuff for months.
They have already demonstrated that they are moving on to new projects, and given how much talent is still being deployed to develop VT2, and while this is just conjecture, I believe the next game that they have been working on is VT3.
The majority of the content in the Penance patch has been sitting in game files for almost a year, and it appears that Darktide is receiving the lowest priority for development in the company. Below that of VT2 and whatever mystery project they are working on, the lack of active development in comparison to Fatshark’s other projects further discourages me from continuing to spend my time and energy in this game when it appears to be about to be replaced by a new title.
Our first update will focus on a comprehensive revamp and expansion of the penance system, including adding many additional rewards and a completely new way to earn them. We will be sharing more information on this update by the end of the month, along with a dev blog so keep your eyes peeled on our Communication channels to learn more.
Following this, we are working on an overhaul of our current itemisation process. With the new system we want to remove a lot of the unpredictable grind that came from an RNG heavy system whilst giving players more agency and a steady manner to progress toward specific loadouts, blessings, and stats refinement.
this is my point they dont actually say crafting this is an itemisation process , i think there will be changes to crafting as part of it but if this were a crafting overhaul i just think they would of mentioned it. given what a big deal its been around here
So the enlightened one graces us with his presence once more, his edict of peaceful resolution is to ban forum users. An action that anyone with even a semblance of forum moderation experience would know is how you ferment an explosion of hatred causing review bombing or any other way to have their voices heard. Do you ever think before posting Jackal or do you purposely just want people to be mad at you? Does it make you happy thinking of how mad people will be with you? Does that actually bring you any real joy?
Yeahh… FatShark works so slowly even at the best of times, so it’s difficult to be sure… but the game does feel like it’s pretty much on life support, with a tiny number of devs working on it now and then.
You hiding behind a screen while telling somebody else to “get crushed by a train” for disagreeing with you doesn’t exactly exude anything that impresses me either.
By the way that was only one report from me, it wouldn’t do me any good to personally report that post more than once.
The rng needs to be removed from this disgusting monstrosity they call crafting when in reality its just a horrible gacha. I like dark tide but it does feel like its on life support sigh
This is a pretty solid chill community we don’t need the slop of people telling other people they should die over differing opinions on MODIFYING VIDEO GAME WEAPONS here.
