What if we could level our Weapons?

Lets say you could level your Weapon by using it.
With every level you would get a WeaponSkillPoint.

WeaponSkillPoints could be used to:

  • increase weapon stats (damage, …)
  • unlock locked perks
  • unlock locked blessings

This would improve the crafting system and it would give players a reason to play the game.

Kinda reminds me of Warframe. Overall yes. This type of system would be pretty awesome. This way you can be leveling up a weapon all the time, no locks, so trying out new builds. Could be used with current materials.

But nope sorry. Too much good could come of it. Fatshark would never touch it unfortunately.

Aliens Fireteam Elite did weapon levellng too.

In addition, two-thirds of the weapons were given from levelling or bought from the shop (ie, deterministic), with the rest dropping randomly based on mission difficulty. About half the attachments were also given the same way with the rest being mission drops. Nice to have stat bumps, but nothing felt essential.

No random stats. A much friendlier way of doing item progression.

lot of people would complain if FS did that here , imagine you have to use DT crafting system then you have to “waste” time being “forced” to level your gun just to get it to the point where its “useable”

myself , i like that DT is just an intrinsic based old style game, you play it for fun theres no other reason. i dont get the attraction of nailing extrinsic treadmills to it. i fail to see how it makes it better.

it would be good idea if it the breakpoints for upgrade would be easy to achieve (lets say equavilent of playing 10 matches). hence all depends on details.

if to remove all locks you would have to kill 1000 pox walkers, sure looks doable. but if number goes to 10k then this getting hard. 100k would be pretty much impossible as it would be easier to just get weapon from melk

on the other side we already have diamantine that noone uses, locks removal / upgrades would be perfect sink for it

Almost anything instead of the current crafting system would be an improvement. It actively drags down the game the moment you want to try anything different to what you already have.

Funnily, Google pulled the Athanor picture from this very forum.

Great… wait… no… worst idea proposed I have seen.
Levelling a char to level 30 is boring. Levelling a weapon would be worst thing they could implement.

Levelling to 30 is boring because you do not have access to your feats.

Levelling a weapon could be fine if the baseline was as it is now, but if leveling it allowed to remove locks and to increase modifier stats.
Of course it would be better, if we got the perk/blessing locked that we chose to put there instead of getting the other one locked.

But imagine if every 1-2 damnation missions gave you enough xp to level your weapons up by 1 lvl. You get a skillpoint for that weapon and can lvl up the weapon again (as many times as you want).
You can then choose to either upgrade a modifier by a few %, or to remove a lock from the weapon.
Would be fine with me.

Question is, if this should be per individual item, or if all individual items with the same name (same mk of same weapon type) should share the lvls.

Seriously… You believe seriously that they will put a system to remove locks? Seriously?

Off course something will come… Later… As a part of what is planned for DT. This is called red weapons and that wouldn’t be the perpetual demands of locks removal that will see the evolution happening.

Locks removal is the reason why I post less and less on this forum. I play the game every days.
But when I see all threads with complains about Fatshark and lock removal complains / demands, I feel that I will waste my time on this forum.

You do not believe they will make it possible to remove locks, but you are certain that they will introduce reds?

Ok.
Well idk whether or not they will add a system to remove the locks, but i certainly hope that they do.

They did announcec they are going to look at crafting locks. But I believe it won’t be completely locking. It might involve

  • Grinding something i.e. Just use the weapon alot
  • Dockets/materials
  • A mechanic that requires sacrificing weapons similar to it
  • etc

You’ll have to give something to unlock it one by one. Whether it’s time, dockets, materials, other weapons etc. There will be a cost to it.

That’s why I suggest everyone to stop crafting until FS decide otherwise you could be spending dockets/materials in vain now, only to realise following month the crafting becomes more flexible.

Lol… I have close to everything I wanted. Why would I stop crafting as my method works well and I get everything I want?
Off course I miss several things, but it is not linked to locks… rather to Melk that doesn’t want to deliver me the blessings I need (thrust T4 for Thunderhammers) or cause I need a better weapon (agri shotgun for my vet woman by example).

@Ralendil

This may not apply to everyone. If crafting well works well, then forum wouldn’t be so vocal about it.

I know… that’s why I plead for less time spent to craft weapons.
When you understand how it works, locks are not really the problem.

Most people already have certain ideal weapons. They just want to do collection. Just takes time, not complexity or difficulty. Dockets/materials is measure of hours of mission time because in 15 mins armory bulk buy/crafting it all gets used up very quickly.

If people already have ideal weapons they plan to stick to and want full collection without intention to use them all, might as well wait to see what FS will plan in future.

“When you understand how the lottery works, win chances are not really the problem.”
You just win right?
Those who actually calculated the odds and tell you how bad it is statistically, they have no actual understanding of how it works.

Everyone who has elaborated why locks are bad as they are, clearly does not understand how it works…

Sure man.

I remember a certain thread that was posted as soon as someone got a bad run with RNG, demanding that it had to be a bug.

I post you again every good weapons I have?
I have so many good weapons that you cannot consider it “luck”.

Should i show you people who have won the lottery?
Some people have even won multiple times.
It can clearly not be luck.

All the math is clearly wrong.

———-

On a serious note, what you are doing is quite common behavior among people who got lucky.
In order to feel better about themselves just having lucked out, they trick themselves into believing that they somehow earned it, or that they are somehow smarter than everyone else and won by skill.
