It is just natural that presenting a class, full with loadout restrictions, abilities and talent packages, comes with a heavy lore-package and a specific “you’re choosing to play THIS GUY”. We wanted to change that.
Says class, not archetype. The meaning is that they want your veteran to be able to be anything he wants to be within the talent tree, rather than locking him into 3 distinct lore paths of sharpshooter, squad leader and infiltrator.
The meaning was never that your veteran should be able to be a psyker (and he still can’t become one) those are archetypes
Obviously the veteran would not be designed to become a psyker. But I’m sure what can be thought of could be easily adapted in one of the existing or even a newly made up skill path.
There’s a lot of ideas. Personally I want the lore we select to mean more and actually be able to read it after we made our character. Also atleast 1 extra voice for everyone. But I’m a weirdo lol and ofc more weapons I would love even gloves or letting me go barehanded. Shield weapons for humans and a few other stuff.
You couldn’t add a ratling or an admech anything as a tree for any of the existing archetypes because they quite literally have nothing to do with a veteran. They’re not veterans. It’s like saying you could add ogryn to the psyker talent tree.
They could probably add ratling to vet and say the only difference is the height and they can say they didnt want to restrict us in that way. N they wont give us Admechs cuz thats just more lore, mechanics, and graphics to invent which they’d rather put the time into the existing characters. Bang for buck in time efficiency.
They meant a new Archetype. It’s all good, it’s not that big of a deal for the OP to make such a minor mistake in semantics when they made it otherwise clear what they meant.
That’s like some 2010 dawn of war fanmod thing, they definitely won’t do anything that scuffed
You’re probably right about the bang for buck thing though, but I dunno, I think if they keep going with that reasoning the game just dies sooner than later
I always welcome being wrong. I hope I am. Whether it’s no classes no archetypes or both, I dont like it. Someone recently said “if it doesnt add anything then it takes away.” But taking away is taking away. That sht sucks.
At launch we had 4 archetypes (Ogryn, Psyker, Veteran and Zealot) each with 1 class (respectively: Skullbreaker, Psykinetist, Sharpshooter and Preacher).
With the initial promise of 1 class per quarter, with 2 par archetype being datamined (respectively Bullgryn and Gunlugger, Protectorate and Gunslinger, Squad Leader and Commando iirc, Pious Stabber and Banisher).
At thr tree update those datamined classes were introduced as part of the tree. Then in game the Archetypes were renamed Classes because most people were calling them as such.
If we consider the 1 class per quarter still, it’s talking about branches, which we don’t know if they’re going to stay at 3 for each or not.
As for Archetype (now class) they’ve never truly mentioned it before (there was an interview long before launch that mentioned that they aren’t closing the door on it, but 1. Might not be relevant, and 2 I can’t find it back, so take it with a grain of salt.
If I had to point to 1 thing that to me mean that we might see some admech arche it’s the “Good Old Plasma” Vox interception.
Where the initial plan back when the Vox was recorded was to have Admech weaponry accessed by thr Veteran, as we hear 2 Veteran personalities that are using “Admech toys”.
Most likely a Phosphor and a Radium weapon.
As for what I would like to see in 2025, based on what we saw in 2023 and 2024:
10 new weapon Marks for old weapon types
10 new weapon Marks for “new weapon types”
→ New staves
→ Dual Wielded melee weapon
Traitor Curse type update for the Dreg:
→ New sector (Underhive, Chem Planr/Greenhouse)
→ 2 missions in it
→ New Assignment (Dreg Sorcerer target)
New Enemies, mostly focusing on the Dreg:
→ Dreg Mauler
→ Dreg Sorcerer (Special)
→ Dreg Sorcerer Lord
rework some of the useless zealot passive nodes and make them better to increase opportunity costs. Also, maybe don’t make choosing a blitz a 4-point investment
new archetype
new weapons, especially dual wield, flail, shields
ogryn needs something. Can’t put my finger to it.
use the relic sword special on new marks for chain and power weapons
guide new players to understand what difficulty is appropriate for them. Nowadays, there are many options and they don’t have this natural progression into higher difficulty as we did at the beginning
maybe look into some mission times for H40. One took me like 70 minutes. That is something that feels too long and makes me want to avoid that mission on that difficulty.
take the segment of the train mission and weave it into a normal mission without the timer. The map is cool, but you don’t always want to play against the clock
seeing as the dark communion interview said that the ritual did have an effect on tertium, i hope for nurgle demons like pestigors and plaguebearers to appear alongside 2 polar opposite maps,
one in the upper spires and one in the lowest part of the hive.
Maybe well get the meltagun and other weaponry like a powerfist or weapon marks.
More earnable cosmetics would also be appreciated.
My gues is that a 5th character was planned but pushed back cause of the state of the game at that time. And with the changes to the characters having a talent tree it is beeing pushed back further.
Yeah, it genuinely makes no sense for there to be five Character Slots SPECIFICALLY unless there is another Archetype planned. Why would Fatshark only want you to make ONE extra Character when there are FOUR Archetypes? Having at least eight Character Slots would make that narrative infinitely more believable.
