According to my experience today, it is very unforgiving to stand on fire. Both my Vet and Psyker died in 2 seconds from full HP (around 180-200). It was fire from Bomber special. And yes, we just wiped because of that LOL. We were very close together, and horde + elites came and we had a decent spot to hold, and BAM! FIRE IN THE HOLE! Even the Ogryn died too
I reacted as soon as it exploded, however, I was right in the middle of the radius and almost got out. If it kills me in 3 seconds, I would survive with 5HP I think. But man, I got roasted to ash within 2 seconds.
I’m wondering why they increase fire damage. Does anybody know?
It’s really extreme. I wonder if this is really the intended behavior or if it’s bugged to be giving double stacks or something. Given the prevalence of fire-based enemies and damage, it seems too strong.
I’m new to the game, only been playing on difficulty 3. It still seems to down in a second or two - if you are not moving out of the way before it starts, you lose a big chunk of health at least.
I really like the idea that I’m not punished instantly but punished over time instead.
It sucks to react to a flamer quickly but still get staggered or simply lose all my toughness for not acting fast enough.
The higher, ramping up fire damage at least gives me more time to react and It feels better until I (or my team) don’t realize there is a bomber behind me and then sabotages our backline for free.
An acquaintance had tested damage resist to bombers and it let him live for only 30 more milliseconds. Not good, and it shows that the ramping up of the damage is even over-compensated for that.
So yeah, I love the idea and intention of it, but the damage resistance is still garbage and the punishment for not getting out of the fire soon enough is severe. It needs to be addressed.
I honestly don’t see why it needed a change. Losing your toughness in one hit feels bad… but that’s the job of specialists, they’re supposed to leave you vulnerable. A bomber can’t prevent you from fighting back like a dog/trapper does, so shattering your toughness was their way of achieving that goal of opening you up.
Without any toughness layer, its bit rough to lose 90% HP in a bloody second.
My gut feeling says its bugged somehow because when you got toughness it honestly does almost next to nothing.
It dodnt need to be buffed it shouldve just not broken toughness and not slowed you and it would have been a fine change, bombers shouldnt be killing anyone they should discourage moving through them slightly
A flamer without slow or damagebuff/toughtness would be pretty easy to ignore compared to other threat. It need a reason to make you panic to be efficient.
Personally, I don’t really feel the difference in flamers because they always die instantly since they have to come relatively close to you and it only takes 1 dodge to the side and shoot back at them. Bombers, however, they can throw far as hell and increasing the bomb radius is quite critical because this game positioning is key.
