I was wondering what are be going to see in the future besides new maps and weapons. Are we going to get more characters or careers? Maybe more game mods? More races to fight againts? Lords?
In my part I would love the see karak azgaraz in V2, its my fav dlc from V1. Also it would be great to have new ranged weapons, I understand that the game is melee focused but I see no reason why they shouldn’t add some ranged weapons from time to time.
Another thing that I loved from V1 was the Lore Book in the Red Moons Inn.
The closest thing to an answer that I’m aware of:
The biggest upcoming thing we know of is the Versus mode. Whether or not this will be part of this game or stand alone, I dont know.
Versus seems to be the future and it looks like much is happening under the hood that maybe at least partially goes under the category of redoing the game from inside out. Except for bugs those changes are not visible to the player for now at least. My personal opinion is that many of the recent issues have arisen from Versus development - we are beta testing some of the new and changed mechanics which I guess is a good thing given how it seems real betas are just early access with no chance to affect the version going live kind of a deal.
Given how the assets are bundled so that each level has it’s own copy of everything (tens of gigabytes of duplicates as show by IamLupo) and assuming that bundling style is here to stay, it would be very easy to make Versus a standalone.
Also that means it could be a integrated part of the base game. I hope it will be, and hope it will be very much integrated into regular gameplay just for having fun and then a separate game mode for the competitive side of it. Fun mode for me would be getting to control some enemies if you are dead and also a spectator mode from which you could join if a slot frees up. The fun mode is slightly problematic in the sense that it would allow deliberate sabotage of the pact sworn side and that generally seems to be something the game designer doesn’t like (any little thing that makes the odds more in players favor are fixed).
As it is quite obvious there is no longer much work done for the base game (adventure game mode), I hope the Versus team will see things from another (fun) perspective and drive some good decisions through.
I still see dedicated servers being a possibility given how the game internals are getting changed into a direction where it could actually work (also direct work on dedicated server support seems to be happening, not.just vague hints of it). How that would make any difference except for Versus rage-quit prevention I don’t know, but people seem to still want to run a server regardless.
Performance (both in terms of frametime and network) has been going in a steep spiral down for as long as I’ve been playing, but the Versus team must know that a PvP game cannot be this bad and thus I see hope for that getting a serious look at some point.
I hope they look into the dedicated servers tbh. Not many people play in my region and if there is no friends to play with I always play with 200+ ms cuz the host is so far away.
I read about the vs mode and I seems pretty fun, I also hope it will be a part of the game more than a separate game itself. I just dont know if it is worth to have so many people (I dont actualy now how many people are working on this) working on a “new” game while the base game has so many flaws o things that need to be changed.
At least one new career during 2020 has been promised. We’ve seen the throwing axe beeing added (new ranged) but not much else range wise, nothing has been said about it as far as I know.
You’re not alone when it comes to the dwarven dlc. Most of the people I’ve discussed it with holds that particular dlc in very high regarded.
They already said it, that they will never happen, because of financial reasons.
I don’t understand how dedicated servers would help you with that.
Its not the same playing on a server placed in my region and playing with a host from another continent.
Who would be playing in your server if nobody is now? You can host your own games right now too, so (given the network issues going on at the moment are fixed) the difference shouldn’t be huge.
Not to mention that Dedicated Servers would have to be run by the community, at their own expense, with their own access and rules. You think Fatshark is gonna pay for what’s essentially several cores of a server CPU running full speed just to let 4 people at a time play? That wouldn’t be economical. There’s no guarantee there would be any available dedicated servers in Volskaya’s vicinity.
I will admit without any doubt that I was very disappointed with the cosmetics that were released. Many of them boring, dull, and weapons (like the Conflagration Staff) still only have one alternate skin when some weapons have as many as four. And purple glow instead of blue doesn’t make it a whole new skin.
Was really hoping for something more inspired than some depressing recolors in brown and slightly different brown .
I wish they made another roadmap for future updates. Brings more structure to both their work and our expectations. Be as vague with dates as you must, just give us something.
Yes, I would love to see more detailed body cosmetics tbh, 90% of them are just recolors. Even if they take their time to make them I think it would be nice.
100% agreed I miss the lore book and the dawi maps ;(
I knew nothing about warhammer lore back then and the lore book helped me a lot.
I’ve still got my fingers crossed that traits get spiced up a bit. Man I miss some of the traits from V1. Increased clip size, chance for bullets to split in two, some really impactful stuff that could make a weapon feel different. Yeah traits aren’t in the worst spot at the moment but trading out some of the duds like inspirational shot for some more interesting ones could add some really fun alternate build possibilities.
I know, right? When I went from V1 to V2 one of the first things I noticed that weapon traits in V1 felt way more game changing. But we need to look into the fact that now we dont have only weapon traits, we also have talents and hero habilities so in overall it is game changing.
What I would like to see as well is more useful properties and traits, because it feels now that all you use is attack speed, crit chance, swiff slaying, barrage, conservative shooter and other ones. Like, all the builds have the same properties and traits because the other ones make no difference.
I didn’t play VT1 so all I know is there is more of them.
But, did you get as good in VT1 as you are in 2? I have heard many had lower hours, by a huge margin, in the first and I think it makea a big difference on perception whether you can be comfortably memeing around or are still learning the mechanics.
I have like 178h in V1 and 542h in V2. I bought V1 on sale in 2018 and later that year V2 was released so I didnt have much time to play V1. I think its safe to say that I wasnt as near as good as I am now (If im any good).
About the memeing depends on the difficulty I guess. I take cata runs serious but cata twitch runs are just a blast. Like, I dont play a cata twitch expecting to win the run.
I’ve been following this forum for less than 2 years now and it’s funny how little has actually been accomplished by Fatshark. Take NoManSky in comparison (also a small studio) which had a very profitable release. They increased their size and kept on releasing major updates and patches every 4-6 months. Now it’s a fantastic game.
In comparison Fatshark did f*ck all. They had enough resources to expand their team and code away. Their game was still buggy a year after release and all they came up with were some weapons copied from other classes and old maps. The major update adding cataclysm was mainly for them to implement a system to tweak stagger/health/damage etc which should have been there from the start. They didn’t listen to the community and they perform poorly overall.
There is a reason why former veterans like J_sat, barely play anymore and when they do, they stream VT1.
