So I got “1000 Scrap melee kills” & “1000 Dreg melee kills” for Vet AGAIN…
The reason why I bring this up is, that it really damages the intended(!) playstyle of the Vet.
Also it hinders the player, because:
The Veteran has:
-No ability to quickly close the distance on enemies, and takes extra damage while sprinting.
-No toughness damage reduction in melee.
-No stun reduction in melee.
-Little capacity to create space or CC while in melee.
By extend I also think that “melee kill”-weeklies for the Psyker aren’t really helping,
BUT they are not as horrible as with the Vet.
And yes, before you say it:
I know team kills count, but that still doesn’t change that one tries to do them quicker,
by activily going for them.
This results in a bad teamplay performance by Vets going for those weeklies…
Hence my point.

That’s why there’s melee kills and ranged kills. I was going to comment on the sheer absence of dregs lately, but for some reason we’re complaining about quests that you tailor to the class anyway. I roll off ranged kills as Zealot, does that need its own topic?
Well you know that already, but rerolls cost money after the first attempt.
I usually reroll “grims/scrips” or “8 missions”, because they take too much time,
which I don’t have to spare.
I’m not complaing.
I’m suggesting, that “melee kills” for Vets isn’t really a good contract.
But I explained my point above.

I personaly think that “ranged kills” for a Zealot is much more senseable then “melee” for Vets,
since the Zealot can actually use most of his abilities just fine with ranged.
Think Flamer & Chastise the Wicked, Stun Grenades, The Emperors’ Will
Even Martyrdom & Until Death work fine with ranged.
Vet with melee on the other hand:
Volley Fire switches to ranged.
Scavenger & Make Every Shot Count only, but not really…
The Vet simply is build as a ranged fighter.
That why I said asking for a Vet to kill 2000 enemies in melee is atleast odd.
I thought I made that quite clear.
I never said the Vet can’t or shouldn’t melee.
I’m not “disillusioned”.
I aim to play the Vet as intended: Support Fire, Ranged first, melee is a backup/fallback, not the main combat option.

Let’s look at the discription of the Vet Class:

For me generally melee kills for the weeklys are frustrating… I don’t get why so many people insist that they need X “meele” or “range” kills for the weekly contracts… Just a contract with Kill X Scab or Dreg shooter… Easy solution… So everyone can go for the kill how he sees fit… But dang… Everytime someone come up with this, “uh oh grab ur melee sword and do ur job”… “uh oh I see just skill issues here”… I’m so tired man…
And inb4 the “skill issue elitist show up”… Yeah OK… I have a skill issue if u it helps ur ego… I’m fine with that… And on top of my skill issue, when I’m going on the praised 1000 melee kills like an r3tard who’s even to dumb to kill stunned dreg/Scab shooter, most of the time when I go for hatred melee kill weekly I get matched with 3 random vets who apparently go for the 1000 range kill contract (so totally the opposite, great). yep, its soooooo beautiful… I love it when every single scab/dreg mofo get killed with a HS before mit TH can crush their damn skulls… But yeah I think its me… Me and my skill issue
The only contracts that need some changes are the “finish x missions” and much more importantly “finish x missions without any team deaths”…
Finish 16 missions is too damn high for a single character and having to do 8 should be the high version, not the medium.
Finish x missions without any deaths shouldn’t include my teammates! Only my own death should count. It’s behond frustating to have someone else ruin MY progress.
The kill rewards contracts are fine, your team can finish them for you so you don’t have to actively go after them to finish them. Obviously knowing this won’t stop ppl from doing so but they are not problematic in any ways once you know that your teammates kills count.

The only “finish x missions” contract that i have seen across 4 characters (~1 million dockets in rerolls per week) within the past few months, was “finish 8”.
Yeah right… And exactly for that reason the kill x scab/dreg shooter in “meele/range” need a change… Because someone else (3 vets going for 1000 range kills and I go for 1000 melee kills as example) ruin my progress… Its beyond me why so many ppl don’t understand this… Like op that… We know there is team progression on kills… We know we can reroll melee/range contract… But both are “unhandy”… Reroll are luckbased and costs ordos… Team progression on kills are also “rng” … I play mostly with randoms… When they are 3 guys going for the opposite contract, then it has a dramatic impact on my kill progression… Means I have to play one or two (worst case even more) matches to get the kills done… So why ur pointed contracts deserve a change (what they do, no question ur are right on them) but the kill contracts are OK how they are??? No they aren’t… They need also a change, like the one’s u mentioned…
Yeah this is such a easy solution… Kills in general would hurt nobody… Everyone could kill the heretic scum the way he likes, and the team progression on the kill count would make a lot more sense… Instead of melee/range contract they should change it to general kills, but with more “X” options … 1000 / 2000 / 3500 or something like that…
