And there we go. Arrowhead did it in Helldivers 2.
The players have been asking for more in-depth weapon customisation since the dawn of man in Darktide, and here we are. Still without it. No; swapping store bought skins and the borderline offensively finite weapon skins from the Commissary and trinket options do not count.
We all know what I am talking about here.
I will say this again: your game is set in Warhammer 40 000.
WARHAMMER 40 000.
Thanks for listening to my TED talk, have a nice day.
Helldivers has dynamic events… now they have put the weapon customization… the give new weapons, new enemies pretty often…
You cannot compare with darktide. Honestly the only point that permits Fatshark to no go bankrupt is the fact that they have the only game with a a good melee combat that is a cooperative game. An other studio gives us same gameplay, I don’t bet 1€ on Fatshark that they would survive.
And no… Warhammer, as the game universe, is not the reason why they survive.
Sony cops a share of the blame for that one, iirc they forced PS accounts on everyone and even excluded a bunch of countries in their TOS despite having purchased the game.
At the very least Arrowhead communicated what was going on, allowing people to review-bomb with appropriate prejudice. If there’s any one thing I would like FS to take notes on it’s comms and letting people know wtf is going on.
The Superstore is also getting an emergency expansion to boost your arsenals for the fight. No more waiting for items to come back into rotation–now the items you want are always available, ready to stock your ship and armor your Helldivers with items you might have missed the first time around.
I don’t want to exaggerate, but how are we supposed to keep faith in Fatshark when we see that all other studios can introduce on younger games than Darktide what we ask of Fatshark constantly ?
I don’t have such a problem. FS continues to deliver interesting and meaningful updates on schedule (quarterly) for free and fix issues, and that’s all I truly care about. More communication would be nice, I’d like to browse the full cosmetics catalog when I get a fiver burning a hole in my pocket, and solo is still painfully overdue. But all I see ahead of DT is years of more updates.
It is not a $40 game economy, or they would not have survived.
It is a $40 entry (€30) and an expected fee of €12-25 / month, because they expect you to buy their cosmetics.
Well that statement doesn’t make any sense to make here. In fact, it only strengthens my argument. If one is to bypass buying any cosmetics in Darktide, you are left with almost nothing.
That is my point. We do not have any extensive customisation.
I really, really want to support FatShark with cash, but I can’t. Either out of spite for implemented mechanics or because cosmetics are poor quality.
As for spite part - RNG was a kick in the balls with every weapon roll for almost two years including beta. I still get kicked in the balls every Monday when I reroll contracts from Melk.
Most of you dumped that karker long ago, maybe I should too, but for some reason I feel compelled to keep it up.
I cling to hope, that when DT is finally fixed to the state where all annoying gimmicks are either removed or changed, so new, starry-eyed player does not get kicked in the groin behind every corner, FatShark will learn and their next game will be made with some basic human decency and respect for the players time in mind…
But then my little guardian devil asks “But wasn’t Darktide the game that was supposed to learn from VT2 mistakes?”
Yes, it was.
Regardless where you were on the planet, on every Monday for last 2 years, if you listened carefully you could hear a whistling sound at either 5-6 AM or 17-18 PM CEST. It was me boiling with rage.
I don’t expect them to have created a game without any DLC released if they don’t get money from cosmetics.
So the game is not a $40 budget game. It is above that…
Plenty of people don’t spend a dime over $40 and get all the content updates. This wasn’t the case for many years in VT2. The existence of cosmetics doesn’t mean anyone has to spend more than the game’s price. There are loads of people here with hundreds and thousands of hours who proudly claim to have never spent a cent on cosmetics.
