He started his studio (DiscoGarage Games) and worked with Arrowhead (Helldivers 2)
Also worked on the content that just now made a lot of people reinstall Helldivers 2.
It’s funny how updating a game with actual fun™ content instead of taking away player agency even further whilst adding more RNG works. What a novel concept. Shame he’s not working on Darktide.
so he’s the guy who designed this hybrid melee / shooter combat system in the tide games? that sets them apart from conventional shooters.
Considering the new warbond drops with melee weapons and shields…yeah I wonder where that hybrid expertise got put to use lol
He is the one that created most of the base both the VT1/2 and the DT teams build upon.
ok, sucks that he left of all people.
He wasn’t on his own
And we’ve got some cool weapon that appeared after he had left, though he might have worked on them before leaving.
That was the first thing that popped into my head after reading the OP. Hope he gets the chance to help them improve the melee a tad in that game, it’s kind of ass at time of writing. Haven’t tried the new stun stick yet.
Too many games to play this weekend between this, HD2, and Hunt.
I am also really curious what that guy’s studio is gonna cook up for themselves, if he’s gonna build on the experiences at FS to make something similar or completely different.
I’ll give it a swing (heh) tonight, there’s the lance in the new warbond as well.
As of now they’re certainly taking the comfy route, given that HD2 uses the same engine as Darktide.
I hope we can see some fist person combat game from them in the future. I’d gladly ditch Fatshark for a smaller, nimbler studio without the shackles of a GW license.
Sorry to be a party pooper, but I’ve removed the LinkedIn link to protect his privacy.
Probably for the best, some people get weird.
Depends on the combination of gameplay/world design for me. Similar gameplay is a huge plus, but if I’m not at all interested in the world they create, I likely won’t stay long term.
I’m all for healthy competition though, so let’s see where they go.
Fair.
Ditch FS? Are you married with a legal entity? Lolz
I don’t get this romanticised relationships with game companies. They are for profit businesses, now that’s not something evil but its not a living being with feelings or care.
If some other dev brings out a better game that marginalizes tide games, yeah I’m off playing that game. That’s how it works.
It’s not personal, it’s business.
Nice way of interpreting a full blown novel into what I said.
By ditch I mean find the same gameplay somewhere else. I have time and time said again that fatshark is a terrible company that lucked out on the tide gameplay. If another game would offer the same thing I’d immediately abandon this travesty of a neglected game.
But since no one is offering this type of gameplay I’m stuck playing Fatshark games. That’s what I mean by ‘ditch’. I’m simply hoping that someone else delivers a better product.
No idea where you get romanticising/relationship from.
Given Fatsharks business strategies as of late I’m pretty much hoping more people quit and do their own thing. These games are great, but it’s certainly not the RNG retention shite and business models that make them great, instead they’re the only things standing in the way of making them my favorite games.
The sooner the key devs that make these games great unmarry from the corporate entities that take their work and sully it the better.
Good for him, maybe he can make Helldivers experience less dull.
But it was his public announcement
I will attach a screenshot then
