Weapon balancing takes so long

It took 4 months to nerf flamer that literally everyone was screaming about how it trivializes game and 3 other people can go afk. You should hire some vt2 vet or something to advice you on weapon nerfs/buffs. For example rn shredder pistol is leagues above other weapons due to stupid combination of blessings but it will likely take 4 months again until devs catch up to it since it doesn’t annoy team as much as flamer and people aren’t complaining as much

This and broken weapons that can’t headshot. Finally hung up my Krourk cleaver out of annoyance and the new clubs have it too. That’s just early access crap. Debating on taking a break if the next update is no content and no 2 second fixes like these. Another week of boring dogs and bad updates soured me.

Balancing take time… you have to analyze the datas you have, the reactions of players, test different solutions, and before making live the change, be sure there is no bug.

See by example the PS. See the reactions of several players… imagine that they had not took the time before making it live. And imagine they should have to revert and try something else that they would make live fast again… but it would be again bad… so they would revert again and try something else that they would make, again, live without testing.
Imagine the mess! imagine the player base reactions…

Tbh, the nerf is not enough for the flamer (again I would prefer an heat mechanism like for plasma but with current nerfs and ammo reserve reversed to what it was prior this patch)
For PS, double feeling. This makes the PS without power cycler really bad, but with it, you have yet enough power to kill an horde. Worst would be to give two swings as a base and +1 for power cycler. In my mind, the weapon should have a cooldown between 2 activations.
But what OP says is that it doesn’t go enough fast. So, how can they do it faster? by changing everything at the same time. Then it would be a disaster cause balancing weapons need to consider the changes in balance of the other weapons. But if you change all of them at same time, you have no reference.

They could do more frequent smaller changes rather than rarer bigger changes. Because that is one of the issues currently now, they just drop 4-6 changes for a single weapon and then take who knows how many weeks or months to remediate any overcorrections or bugs.

They could also fix broken blessings (see link about weapons), change useless ones and… let’s dream, fix broken weapons.

But Catfish seems to say it will come… so let’s wait and see.
Balancing weapons is not, in my opinion, easy.

It isn’t easy, but you also don’t drop multiple changes at once because trying to pinpoint the thing causing the actual issue takes longer.

Honestly, imo this weapon is not a problem at all.
Does not seem overpowered in comparison to other weapons (i have a good one with T4 pin fire on my zealot).

pinning fire 100%+blaze away 50%+180% maniac modifier+25% peril bonus+24% warp stacks bonus but even without psyker ones it deletes anything except carapace. I don’t know any other weapon that comes close in single target dps atm especially vs maniac

Infantry lasgun with headshots (without blessings).
Probably can 1 shot all maniacs in a single headshot with all of the external damage bonuses fully stacked.

Probably has lower dps than the autopistol in close range when enemies are lined up behind each other.

Anyway: many weapons can kill the enemies before they are even within effective range for the autopistol.

You have to use vets ult and it’s ranged class weapon while anyone can use pistol and output more dps than vet in his ult with lasgun. Basically only area lasgun comes on top is stray shooters and really long range and you need ult anyway

It takes 4 mutant headshots with ult but you are unlikely to get headshots if it has it’s back/side against you. Pistol just deletes them in a second in the back. It basically outputs ridiculous dps especially combined with psyker buffs

it’s range isn’t that short too, i just tested in meat grinder and you can comfortably hit most shots on a rager that is 20m away since it barely has any recoil

I’m doing 4000dps (i assume its because mutant has 4k hp and counter in meatgrinder cant go more than that lmao) vs mutant with tier 3 pinning fire on my zealot. Now add to that all the psyker buffs…

Vet has a couple of choices that can compete with it but for other classes it’s just really too strong of a weapon that overshadows it’s competition

You do not have to use vet ult.
Every class except ogryn can use the infantry lasguns.
Your example was using all possible damage buffs from a psyker.

Wut?? Without ult my max damage + specialist damage mg does 1200~ dps in the back for mutant. Even vs maniac rager it takes 3 headshots

My example was on a zealot, i just did it in the meatgrinder. I don’t have a good pistol on my psyker. It also had tier 3 pinning fire and not 4.

Vet has bolter and his ult+weak spot dmg perk and he’s supposed to focus on ranged so yes he can compete with shredder. It’s the strongest build for psyker atm and everyone is running it, staves are better for crowds but no gun even comes close.

It’s highest dsps zealot’s ranged too except for bolter which has insanely long reload and is harder to use than just unloading clips and killing everything. Are you seriously arguing 4k (more since counter stops at max hp) without psyker buffs is not overtuned

They should take from Paladins instead of Apex Legends in their philosophy to this. Paladins wasnt precious about balance and constantly just threw stuff at the wall at a high speed. It was always intersting and if something was OP and terrible it’d be gone in like a week. Apex dribbled our changes so slowly i would uninstall frequently and come back months later to the exact same problems and like one new gun.

Here is your initial example. With Psyker.

Mutant is probably the only maniac, where the autopistol beats most other guns in dps.
Bomber, trapper, both flamers, dreg rager…
Those are also maniacs. And those have a health amount, head position and body size, which is great for short time to kill with weapons like infantry lasguns.

It is pretty pointless to focus on just a single enemy within the maniac class, that is a massive fatty, comes speeding into close range as soon as it spawns, and which you can barely headshot at all.

Well its maniac damage type too… I tested again in meat grinder and i can kill any maniac enemy
while being 17 meters away and my dps is clocked as their max hp (since it doesn’t go higher)
Again this is without psyker buffs and with 3 tier blessing

It would be easier to get a sense of what needs to be buffed and nerfed if they RNG wasn’t so awful.

Your initial example included the psyker bonus damage sources to claim how strong that specific weapon is (which makes no sense because the bonus damage sources are also available to other weapons).

So i said that infantry lasguns can have better dps against maniacs.
To which you replied that they require the veteran ult for that, which is simply not true, since infantry lasguns can also be used by all three human classes and therefore have access to the same class specific damage bonuses, as the autopistol.

Yes. I am aware that it is a maniac. But as i said, you focused on the single maniac out of the six available ones, which happens to have the perfect properties to benefit the dps of the autopistol and to diminish the dps of the infantry lasgun.

Now shoot any of the maniacs (except mutant) with an infantry lasgun and see that you will also have the same dps with autopistol (according to the meatgrinder dps).
Depending on the range and your aim, your time to kill will actually be shorter than it was with the autopistol.
