Visable level cap

Hi guys

I really hope you see this, this is my favourite game of all time, my friends love it too, but the only thing that stops them all playing alot is the level cap.

I undertand you have to for skill points, but pc have even added a mod to see our levels beyond 30, please add this to console, this would make the game so much more enjoyable and playable long term.

Many thanks
Sam

sounds good. I’m on PC but wouldn’t mind it being accessible in the base game either

BUT

you should only be able to see your own true level (>30) that way, not that of others.

Why?

Why should you see that of the other players? It’s their business, if you’re curious you can always ask.

not when they want to participate in high end difficulty.

dude lvl 35 with 20 hours playtime applying for havoc 30+?

huge help he’ll be i wager.

an account lvl would be the best solution to see a twink of someone with 1000 hours under his belt.

lets be honest here, neither ingame or in real life teams will the runts get picked if alternatives are available, simple logic.

You can’t be serious, yeah? Sure, arguments are to be made on how valuable true level after 30 is. But at least seeing my teammates are lvl 30 and should in theory have used all their talent points is good baseline info. Esp when bad friends sneak under 30’s into Auric (and then don’t babysit them).

Then a build like this comes along:

when applying for havoc 40 very helpfull i’d say, showing my char at 1780 and being around long enough to know every map and my talents inside out.

common courtesy for those investing their time and energy in the endeavour

Hah! i remember the dude here asking why he cant get no further talent points to reach the bottom and fill the tree :joy:
come to think “those” could be lvl 40k and non the wiser

I agree wholeheartedly. True Level gives this game tons of life for me and I love basking in awe when I encounter these 1k+ players. There are also plenty of those same players that show time is the only real requirement to see number go up, not skill/learning.

I’m currently trying to think if I’ve ever played or even heard of a multiplayer game with a leveling/numerical power system that hides that from other players. It’s just a basic feature and I’ve never seen the stance that it’s a private matter for the player.

and not forget those picking +xp curios to boost em fast.

one could argue though that sacrificing valuable stats for something so silly and still farming auric maelstrom does take skill

i mean kiddy pool settings dont net any xp worth mentioning so +xp curio or not he wont keep up with those finishing auric maelstroms in less than 20 minutes

On that note, as just another monkey who like seeing number go up, I’ve just recently realized that havoc provides no XP benefits, further decreasing my desire to play it. I do enjoy the higher density and challenge overall, but there just really isn’t anything but pride/boredom to play it for. And I have not reached that point with A5QP and Maels yet. :person_shrugging:

those difficulties should be gated then like cata was in vt2 instead of creating some kind of sick true level bigotry.

want to play auric heresy or damantion? win 5 regular heresy missions first.
want to play auric or regular maelstrom? win 5 regular damnation missions first.

the solution of “let’s see their true level so we can kick them” is not just toxic but also ineffective. you can have low-true level people playing amazingly (eg. cause they have a lot of experience on other chars) and you can have high-true level people playing like garbage (eg. cause they only play braindead meta or just have a worse day)

so yes their true level is their business. want less scrubs in your games? ask fatshark for actual difficulty gating instead of half-measures based on pure toxicity.

true level after ~30 is exactly worthless. you could see me with true level over 1k playing absolute garbage cause i’m tired, or you could see me with true level <20 playing amazingly cause i just leveld up a new char for the sake of it (actually did that btw).

again - you want difficulty gating, ask fatshark for actual solution instead of relying on half measures

That’s noble, but it’s just not realistic. And the incoming implementation of what you describe will likely prove it. Players can and are 100% carried to victories and don’t stop with a moment of self awareness.

And I’d never advocated for kicking sub 30’s. It not something you can do alone anyway. But I can decide if I’m feeling like dealing with it when I get that info.
I’ve absolutely seen the high levels play like shite as you say. I do it myself plenty. But I 100% to this day have not had a sub 30 in an Auric carry their weight. I welcome the day that’s not true.

hence my proposal for account lvl, that way you see how many time he’s invested into the game.

usually that goes along with being a helpfull team mate,…usually.

what did people do before the word “toxic” came in about every second sentence, when they didnt get picked for the soccer, basketball or whatever team and stood as the last “unpicked” one ?

we all grew up with accepting the logic that stronger individuals benefit the outcome for the team.

heck, we picked the best hunter to get us our meat when we still wore pelts :joy:

yep, an actual ingame measurement would be welcome, then again “win 5 maelstroms”… 1 good dude can carry 3 noobs through in 30 minutes.

after 2 1/2 hours of mainly spectating they’re still inefficient on their own. :man_shrugging:

that’s fair, more info to decide whether you want to play that game or not is sensible. but true level doesn’t convey much information about skill while telling others everything of how long you’re playing the game - and i don’t see why that should not be a private matter.

simply put - your comfort does not outweigh other people’s privacy.

That’s why there should be an account level aside from character’s. For aurics it doesn’t matter much, but for havoc it does.

Cause you can’t force people to win H39 10 times befor joining H40.

they are even welcome as comedic relief :joy:

You have a truly based opinion on privacy, sir.

I realize now I may have misinterpreted this to mean level at all, not just +30.

Either way, I support the console players getting to have the big number level fun us PC players get. Whatever form it takes.

exactly - it “sometimes” conveys skill level, but always conveys the time invested. and i don’t see why time invested into a game should not remain a private matter

even Steam understands that and lets you hide your game details. as I said before - your comfort does not outweigh other people’s privacy.

welcome to the 2020s, the world has changed a lot since the stone age. for example, you needn’t kill for survival - but you can for fun, in a video game.

you’re welcome to propose a better difficulty gating system. admittedly, i did not put much effort into designing this one since i just don’t care about it that much.
