Ive given up asking for the large important mods being added to basegame its never gonna happen (you just don’t care or something i dont understand the logic there tbh)
But please just give us the one where we can see our level past 30. Its like the only thing i can use to see anyform of progression now. I only play this game pretty much and have nothing more to gain ingame i just want to see my level past 30 so i can see and make my own achievements like hitting lvl 100, 500, 1000 etc. I have to ask ppl on pc to tell me my level once every few weeks but its just such a tiny detail like whhhhy just put it in game. (It was in VT2 might i add)
Also a screenshot of me begging like a little peasant for a mod dood to tell me a tiny number on his screen. This is what I have resorted to Fatshark, I hope youre happy -
The PC Master Race graciously supports this request from the console peasantry. Also NumericUI functionality, especially for better communication of the effective dodge counter.
omg NO. Don’t you DARE. Some of us don’t want to see the bloody levels. I don’t need it, want it, or care about it. Keep it OUT of the basegame thanks.
“but whyyyy Crayvun?”
Its a measure of how many months you’ve played. Thats it. I could have been sleeping through most of it. Quickplay gets you more exp too, you know, compared to normal missions. Like I said, its just time.
The last thing we need is more people who’re so freaking hyped to see that “omg dude, you got level 700!!! OMG !!!”
And finally, the reason they don’t have it, is to avoid elitism. A situation where me and another person might see you, with only a few levels over the base, and then might choose to kick you from our Auric mission, because you don’t have enough experience. I’ve never liked Elitism, in any games.
The compromise here would be to only see your own level as base. That’ll satisfy people that want to set their own goals, and prevent that issue.
Of course, having more interesting weeklies could also serve to give players goals.
True level only shows how many hours you’ve put into the game. An emblem like the karnak twins one is a better indicator.
But ultimately, hours and trinkets are all worthless as with trinkets you can be carried to get, and hours dont mean a thing.
There are players with 1000 hours that are only capable of playing malice-heresy.
And others with only 200 h that play on auric damnation.
Oh and, I see no reason why we shouldnt be able to see the true level. I say add it in like unlimited said :
(personally i dont care but others love to see their own stats so, it’d make them happy)
yeah I should have put in my experience, I have seen so many ASS be clueless and more often that not people with high true level’s have been better overall while solo joining QP
As a 2.5k/h player and a lvl 30 +1400 Veteran, what you say is correct, but TrueLevel, like Gearscore in an MMORPG, is the only metric we have presently, and claiming that it is irrelevant in Auric Maelstrom is untrue.
While hours played do not necessarily convert into skill level, there is a noticeable difference in my personal experience while playing with a team of TrueLevel + 800 - 1000 players as opposed to 30 + 20.
It is true that people can be very competent at low levels, roll new alts, and so on, but as I already stated, TrueLevel is the only metric we have.
If Fatshark ever incorporates TrueLevel or prestige levels for the baseline, I suggest accounting for your entire account instead of each individual character.
I’ve had more bad experiences from people seeing my “true” level than anything else. Heck, I’ve been accused of everything from grandstanding to picking up grims to harm a less experienced team to not knowing how to play - all depending on the lvl of whatever character I bring of course.
If there’s one mod you don’t implement, let it be this one. In fact, I want the opposite. I want a setting that HIDES my “true” level from everyone else. And while you’re at it, give me the same for scoreboard stats.
It isnt elitism in the slightest you can see ppl game time anyway so it makes no difference. Like you said if its gametime then it has no relevance to skill anyone with a brain knows this and if you find brainless ppl in quick play thats your fault for playing quick play just make an LFG and get nice ppl instead
Until there is some frame or insignia awarded on some kind of damage dealt vs damage received basis, character level is the closest thing to a workable signifier for someone’s capabilities. It’s obviously possible to just dumb your way through loads of missions and level up, but the higher the level goes, the less likely it is that that is the case. To say it’s irrelevant is wrong and reductive, it most certainly is an indicator of something relevant.
You don’t get to call it objectively good for contributing to your experience anymore than I get to call it objectively bad because it detracts from mine. Whether you think true lvl is good or bad depends entirely on what it does for you.
In any case, I’m fine with you wanting to opt in. As long as you’re fine with me opting out.
Honestly man I am not trying to come off mean but you should try saving for a PC. You could get a great PC that can run practically every game now at good fps for $1k or even cheaper. Only reason I have a PS5 is so I can play console exclusives, otherwise I wouldn’t even own a console anymore.
When you see one which is secret then it’s nice. But when you see hard one it’s like dude probably don’t even know about the secret one, and the impression is bad.
But that’s not an indicator of proficiency. Like I have a secret one and I’ve done it on gamepad.
All I’m getting from this topic is that people try way too hard to make snap judgements based off of stupid factors instead of just seeing how someone plays.
