Veteran is worthless now

No he isnt the damage gold ping is goated the res shout is goated and the med crates healing corruption is goated

Having played a bit with it I noticed my reserves were around 80% all game instead of 95%. Your mileage may vary depending on how much you like shooting. Its definitely a change to the game that is worth noting, and less of an all eclipsing game difficulty lowering you could not opt out of because the game forces vet bots in official. Seriously the amount of Steam discussions I’d read ‘melee choice doesn’t matter’ convinces me there was some weight behind the decision. Ie to force you to use those secondary weapons of yore that were always called primary weapons. They whack, they slash, they hit.

Close order drill and confirmed kill are mandatory

No, thanks.

I never have rely on Close order drill, confirmed kill or survivalist soo i can’t say how bad the nerf is, but this build and many others without using those perks and aura have worked for me in every difficult.

Ok, I misspoke. They’re not mandatory with voc, since that itself is a crutch. They would be mandatory without voc.

I haven’t tested the nerfs yet so I can’t say how it’s affected me personally, but my gut tells me 5 seconds is probably about twice what it should be. Especially if the cooldown is shared across all vets in a team.

We shall see how I feel about it after a couple of runs this afternoon.

I must say though, I’m kind of confused about the goal of these changes. It’s like they want you to use your gun more, but also not be able to use it as much. On paper it seems like a recipe for frustration.

LOL, welcome to the club brother, the: ‘‘nerf scavenger every big patch’’, been going since patch 13.

I got so accustomed with it that i’m just fine with it now.

You can play other auras, sure, but those are leagues away from the original vet concept, thats no vet, those are just filler talents that eventually became just as good as the main thing

If you want a tip from a pro veteran, just go grenadier spam, that will fix it, get both Demolition Stockpile and Demolition Team

immagine

this is your new scavenger, untill next patch of course, enjoy the carnage

They’re obviously talking about the ammo nerf and how it affects ranged play.

I genuinely think iron will can fill in for close order and out for blood is at least equal to confirmed kill at this point. Honestly EH is good enough you can skip CK with it at this point too. Top of tree is pretty free to your preference at this point.

even with 1 second cooldown it would be completely worthless, to all those who tells you otherwise i suggest them to try to get any value off it now and they will realize it immediatly, most of them don’t even play the game now, rightfully mind you

to me scav is dead since patch 13 so its just funny to me that they kept sinking it

bolter boys were ammo hungry even before that so you can imagine how good it does to you now

i’ve always been cleaning the map from all the ammo pickups since the very beginning

Out for Blood was already good before, no clue why they buffed it even more now, balance team clearly dont know what they are doing when it comes to vet

Close order drill and confirmed kill are mandatory anyways dont let anyone tell you otherwise, you just suck without it, of course if you suck normally you can’t tell the difference.

if you are used to confirmed kill i tell you, its going to throw you games not using it even with this ultra nerfed version you got

its the only talent that is able to get you any value off Iron Will

Well now they done this they can finally balance the auto to semi auto options better.
Before you can’t run a auto gun with out it or you will end up stealing all the ammo picks ups form your team the whole game.
Now they got to increase the ammo capacity or no one will ever use any of the full auto weapons.

But idk how big a issue in the lower difficulty this is because 5 seconds seems fine for malice but in Hi intensity shocktroop gauntlet it was almost a must have since you could be killing 30+ elites in a single fight.

The class with the strongest melee weapons in the game is never worthless.

I’m just going to steal all the ammo pickups. :man_shrugging:

Now it makes even more sense to show team mates ammo count natively without needing mods. Becomes more essential to balance team ammo distribution.

What good are those melee weapons when you go down easily as Veteran in melee compared to true melee classes like Ogryn and Zealot?

And I sincerely hope you don’t mean Power Sword, because it’s overrated as f… low amount of dodges and big window for enemies to hit you while you’re charging it.

Veteran’s main strength is ranged combat, sidegrade playstyle doesn’t do him any favors.

Veteran just keeps getting ruined. First it’s the powersword nerf which didn’t seem to affect my performance in the game, then it was the talent rework which didn’t seem to affect my performance in the game and infact made it better, and now it’s the scavenger aura which came hand in hand with a huge buff to marksmans focus, which is now also one of the strongest ranged keystones in the game, and as such made my veteran even stronger. Not to mention the new weapons that can oneshot crushers being added before that.

Yet somehow each of these incidents individually ruined veteran and made it unplayable. Crazy. I wonder what’s different between my veteran and your veteran.

Veteran is a strong class now, if you don’t play like a veteran, the current veteran meta gameplay is the very same of Kruber on Vermintide 2, you have your melee weapon equipped most of the times, and just keep your ranged to counter specials and the enemies ranged, it works well because its how tide games are developed to be played.

Although if you want to play veteran as an actual veteran, picking all his traditional skills, you are going to have an underwhelming experience compared to all the other classes

I did play lot of games with Exe stance last patch, and it wasn’t the best of the experience, this patch i outright refuse to do so.

I like the Mk VII Shovel because it gives me plenty of dodges and I can use its heavy sweep attacks to knock over any of the enemies that WOULD’VE hit me if I was instead trying to charge a Power Sword.

Knock the trash over, special attack an Elite/Specialist, knock the trash over, repeat. Spam light attacks if there’s any stragglers left, simple as.
