imo it’s standard dev practice, if you aren’t certain on whether or not you’ll do it, you don’t want to say yes outright because people will get annoyed if you takes age or don’t deliver at all, if you say no people can’t anticipate and hope for it being added. In terms of versus I think they really meant the ‘no’ at the time, then later reconsidered. That’s also always a possibility.
Based on how VT2 has three factions now to VT1’s, and it’s getting versus mode, I’d say FS are willing to experiment, the question is in what direction they go.

I would personally expect a Bretonnian to be a very likely character, but I still just really wanna see a Lizardboi - last, best chance, IMO. Especially regarding interactions, I think one could provide a very interesting take on it; arguing with Saltz about Sotek and Sigmar, jibing Kerillian for no longer being the oldest race on the block, being confused by the fact that Sienna thinks he’s like a cute puppy, that sort of thing. Though to be fair - any character the devs make will undoubtedly be written extremely well.
Interesting note; when Loehner mentions that Morrslieb is getting bigger, that’s actually because of the Skaven trying to pull it closer - and the Slann opposing it. So that provides yet another potential avenue for a Skink to appear - a scout, searching for the location of the Grey Seers causing this!
