I think the talent trees and classes have come a long & great way to bringing players choice. So great the original success of Ogryn is now left in the dust and needs some fine tuning. No longer do we need grand reworks but slight tweaks & re positions.
Our Ogryn has some unique artifacts left over in his once ground breaking tree.
The lock-out passives and operative modifiers that hide some of the stretch numbers that would look worst, general lack of flexible Aura choice and bloat passives/pathing around the auras that detract from choice.
Any other ideas to bring the big guy’s tree or function more inline?
PS: I think the new voice for Ogryn was also an attempt to help Hive Scum launch with a big protector but talent tweaks would have also gone a long way to helping out our squishy Hive Scum more.
I would just like to see Ogryn be a proper tank/staggering supportive class instead of crutching on the rumbler so hard. Almost every Ogryn I see in Havoc is running Ogrynheimer build.
The lower talents should not be separated by preceding talents. Fatshark set this tree may because of they followed the former design process. But it’s unreasonable in new trees system. Some talents should be contacted together for build diversification.
Tried the rumbler spam build yesterday btw because Melk something about shooting scabs and it’s a braindead, +forward & mouse1 build fitting an Ogryn with a damaged implant.
I straight up missed when the Rumbler got buffed; I’ve been running it in my taunt builds for the funny crunch sound it makes and the way the grenade can bounce straight up when you dome a heretic just right.
For structural changes, my only request would be for the blitz modifier nodes to be rolled into the main blitz node. Blitzes, all of them, have a pretty severe power creep issue present that really needs to be addressed, eventually.
In fact, pretty sure all of my opinions about Ogryn’s talent tree are based on Power Creep. Whatever “Rule of 15%” FS has been going off of is fine and all, but only when that 15% can reliably build off of other sources of 15%. So, Crunch! and PBB ain’t pulling any weight by themselves and they have even less going for them now than 3 months ago.
That should be Feel No Pain. IMO, Feel No Pain should provide the best TDR and Stagger output, but at the cost of ammo efficiency and melee damage.
Heavy Hitter should be the best melee damage at cost of ammo, stagger and tankiness. So for that reason Impactful should probably go to Feel No Pain, replaced by something else for Heavy Hitter that allows Ogryn to close the gap for melee combat more effectively.
Burst Limiter Override should be the best at ammo efficiency, ranged armor pen but the “squishiest” Ogryn keystone by far. One way this could be done is by changing Back Off to something like this:
On Killing Melee Attack gain +10% chance to trigger Lucky Bullet for the next magazine. Stacks 5 times. At 5 stacks, magazine is loaded from reserves.
The next magazine coupled with chance reduction to 50% means Rumbler spam is no longer an issue, as Rumbler only has 1 shot in the magazine. It would however still be useful for Rumbler, as it would reload it from reserves and provide a 50% chance of free second shot.
I really like this nick name =) (lil unsure about the emoji though… is he shooting a gun at other guy? or just pointed to his well made excel sheet) (THE NUMBERS)
I’ve ran out of steam to make full blown tree drawings and suggested talents… at least…for now…
… I would really like his Toughness generators be tied to light attacks or heavy attacks per node so i’d only need to take one and swing in that pattern to regenerate as needed than rely on one or multiple enemies… and may as well revert those numbers back up 5%.
I played a lot of Ogryn recently, and it feels like the most well rounded. Even though Ogryn doesn’t have that many weapons, they all have a use and significantly alter the way you play Ogryn.
@Raichu, you pretty much nailed the remaining little issues with the talent tree, and then this class would be perfect except that you’re not spoiled for choice with what weapons you have. The Ogryn has a few really good hybrid builds, but just allowing more choice in the mid-section would allow more ranged/melee hybrid builds, and more tank hybrid builds.
