Thoughts, Ogryn mains?

The major reason I posted this was to lighten the mood a bit from the balance, game performance, and Havoc issues.

But I also wanted to know what the Ogryn mains thought about this!

I try to make it all work but really its just Bullrush Melee Ogryn, the other builds just lack…they just lack…

He had his shining patch peak moment… where we all considered him OP even.. oh the memories…

I never got Slab Shield over the Bully Club light attack spam build. You’re invincible by just spam-clicking your mouse and with taunt you keep everyone on you 24/7. How’s the shield that’s slower at attacks better than that?

Pretty much this, though it’s wild Gunner fire drains the stamina of Shield so fast without that -30% stam consumption while blocking Blessing. Easily compounds in higher difficulties with Gunner groups targeting you.

The Ogryn overhaul was fantastic. Then the dust and meta settled. My conclusion is that the talent tree is better than it was, but still has pretty much essential nodes spread out way too far. Here’s my thoughts on that: Ogryn set the way for new talent trees, but is bloated in comparison

Then FS decided to address power creep by buffing enemy HP and Branx with Thrust and Crunch can’t even one shot a crusher anymore.

Frag grenade is a bad joke. Rock is fun against muties and boss stagger. Has its place. Box of grenades is also fun and a good stagger everything clutch.

Ripper gun still feels like shooting bird shot.

Shovel is just a worse Pickaxe.

All in all, Ogryn is a bit slow and anything he can do, another class can do better, besides taunting.

I still can’t get over the fact that Ogryn was the stagger class and then they made Arbitrator the stagger class instead of making his talents synchronize with electrocution. FS has no vision.

In short: lack luster and wasted potential.

In reference to your post:
Towering Presence and Lynchpin should be one Talent. Bash and Blast, Spray and Slay should be just under the Blitzes in Strongman’s spot like so:

No Pushover and Brutish Strength would be good combined too, same with Implaceable and No Stopping Me.

Spot on about Confident Strike, should only be on Push Attacks. Agreed on Smash Em and Best Defense rolled into one: “Replenish 5% Toughness after hitting one or multiple enemies with a Melee Attack. Increased to 15% Toughness if it is a Heavy Attack.”

Then put Strongman where Smash Em is at and increase DR from 10% to 20%.

now seriously, as ironic as it is switching back and forth since release: ogryn=crap/op/crap again, it’s one of the few classes today that shows physical skill and experience dominate lame number cushions and i-win talents. :man_shrugging:

sticking with the big man since nov 22 and still going strong. :saluting_face:

it lets you play like no one else was there with you, or at least ignore the fkups pretty consistently and move on.

it’s a nice insurance against incompetence and way of seeing the match through.

had a few good carries where toughness was constantly low no matter what, the chunks kept me going from healing to healing, not that anyone was left standing to grab the station anyways :smile:

Full health ogryn is awesome you get to be super tanky! I use 2 health 1 toughness though, I used to use 3 heath curios way back but then they buffed gunners and I felt I needed more toughness so switched one of my curious. I have tried 3 toughness curious…not a fan at all.

Ogyrn is the class I struggle with the most, mainly due to lack of mobility on avoiding specials on auric shock troop gauntlet.

I have still been experimenting to see what I like but:

I have had success with this one^ Especially since the paul’s explosion is affected by explosive talents.

This one for stunning everything with special attack wasn’t bad either.

Some other ones I am still in the process of trying.

But my main has usually been melee pick axe with stubber.

it’s one of those builds that relies on others to work.

reliance on strangers is a recipe for failure and premades aint for me so full health it is.

(1 toughness maybe if havoc 40 shts me neck deep with gunners, but thats about it)

I kinda enjoy health + corruption res curios on my Ogryn. Helps a lot on Havoc due to gas and green gunk spam.

oddly enough I got no corruption res whatsoever and walk through event/poxgas maelstroms like its nothing :man_shrugging:

need to be standing in one spot for quite some time to even catch some purple

Ranged Twin’s gas grenades and green gunk/gas from Rotten Armor can screw you up pretty badly on Havoc. I agree it’s not needed on Auric/Mael tho

yeah, don’t give 2 :poop: about the premade simulator, so that makes sense it messing with these numbers too to enforce cuddling and yellow shower ad nausea :man_shrugging:

It can deal with it easily if you dodge slide and plant the shield. Block cost reduction is good to have though. I run a stamina curio personally.

The real worst class in game is whatever the holy f- my Havoc teammate is doing. Love him to death, but you’d never know Vet was a good class watching him play.

But, again, I can’t talk to Ogryn mains because I either get The Council of Reddit Wholesome Ogryn response about how he’s secretly OP or I get the no-nuance YouTuber certified “Ogryn is the unarguably worst to ever exist”. Like, damn, screw me for wanting to pin-point big man’s exact strengths and weaknesses.
