Had this mission with grimoires which I selected to do the weekly missions of picking up books. Found both but the other people just ran by despite obvious markings and text.
Ok fine, they don’t want to.
Continue to play, and now barrels are being shot to try to knock me off and burster shot to explode.
I lost my book as well I flew over the edge from burster.
It’s just so pathetic. Just go outside or do something else if you are that petty.
(I am not 100% sure who did it so that is why I ask of replay).
It’s luckily the first time in probably 2000+ missions so chance is I’ll never play with that person again, or that whoever it was is in a better mood.
I abhor griefers, but honestly in this specific instance if you had picked up a grimoire against the team’s wishes then you were the griefer, you were the one in the wrong. If you’re doing the penance, ask, if even one person says nay then nay it is, but weeklies? Automatic nay, there’s literally no reason to do the book weeklies.
Just reroll the silly book quests, nobody has done them for the weeklies since they added “look at 3 plasteel stacks for 1000 points” ages ago and unless you’re FoB, you should know this. It really shouldn’t need to be explained; it should the default logical conclusion: don’t pick up something that harms your team, and in this case, it’s harming them more than once as it occupies a crate slot too.
They ignored the markings and text because it was an obviously silly thing to do, so nobody would take it seriously.
I bet there’s more to the story here anyways, it wouldn’t surprise me if they asked you to scrap it and you wouldn’t.
Thx. I play on xbox, should perhaps have mentioned that.
Yeah, I know, the books are kind of mhe and annoying with the corruption, but I figured it is monday = new melk missions, so people would be familiar with it.
I clicked the mission for the books too. But what ever, just annoying people feel the need for something like that.
I’m ok with people not picking up books, I get that you might not have either the wish to do so, or feel it is something that makes the mission hard. My issue is trying to kill me with barrels and bursters. Just get on the mic or type. I already had one book so I was fine with that.
I know the weeklies are not very interesting, but it’s more of something to do while you run around. Usually I reroll, but again 1 time in A LOT of missions, so not a big issue.
Seriously, trying to justify the behavior of the guys that use barrels to kill an other teammate…
If they did not want to have to deal with a book, I would advice them to never click “quickplay”.
This kind of behavior is what pushed me to play Darktide less and less. I actually don’t play it at all… Must say that I have a better game to play with…
I know this isn’t really helpful, but probably reroll that contract in the future. Lots of people don’t like grimoires. In truth, they are a pretty badly done mechanic.
Which, to be clear, is not to excuse stuff like this. But people like that are usually rare, so you don’t tend to encounter them very often. Assuming it was intentional.
Mind you, I’d suggest that it may have been an accident. I’ve had the best intentions sometimes in killing pox bursters and barrels only for it to end up killing someone.
i think this will be resolved with the mission board update, many time when i go to play the entire mission board is filled with slop modifiers and theres only one HISTG up in a map that i wanna play i should be forced to have grims on me if that was my only option for play
yup eating a grim cures corruption starting from the end of the hp bar while picking them up adds from the end so if you have 2 total wounds with 1 gone eating one would give you like 25% empty hp from the wound that was gone so you can still go down again.
its a nice little way of giving yourself or others another chance to go down without dying
i found a video here showing it
look at the HP bars of the teammates when the player carrying it dies
at they very least if they remove the link between the map option with the threat level we’d at least have more options to play with the desired threat level which would give you more options to play like the previous heresy aurics being playable at damnation not a solution per say but more options at least
Your teammates deliberately trying to kill you in a co-op game is the very definition of griefing. Picking a book in a book mission is not; it’s playing the game. While you have no right to compel anyone else to participate, likewise, they have no right to exclude you from picking one up… and If one player carrying a grim is the difference between the group’s overall success or failure, then that group has no business playing that difficulty!
That said… I would not necessarily assume this was malicious unless they said something in voice or text chat. I play in a LOT of PUGs, and about 50% of them are console players, who are just built different , but that’s a different threat .
As a front-line player, I find myself pre-exploding barrels and shooting pox bursters at distance rather than pushing them because I just know that someone is going to shoot them regardless . For that reason, I wouldn’t necessarily assume they were out to get you unless someone specifically said as much.
I’ve been out of the loop for a year or so, and just returning for the new-to-me weapons and Arbites update, so I don’t know if the block list has been increased beyond 50, but I’ve gotten in the habit of just blocking obnoxious players so I don’t have to run into them again.
Usual suspects in here subverting the game for their own intent.
Greifing you for picking up a book is griefing, if its the game mode its the game mode. There should be vocal thought about adding a filter rather than defending blowing up barrels to grief another person for playing the game.
