You’ve been on a tear lately lmao
This is, and always has been the only way to judge skill. I have seen level 1000+ OGs go down nonstop, and i have seen level 32s outperform everyone. Levels, PC or console, mouse or controller, none of these things matter. Only if they are a good player or not. But there are so many elitists that actually think those things are indicative of skill.
Bayesian, or Frequentist? Which side do you sit on?
I agree with what you’ve said above. I hold no stock in the titles, or the third testicle cosmetic badge. But just by general laws of probability, the below
isn’t true if you’re playing your odds. A level 30 without top end oranges might well carry their weight, or more, but chances are they won’t. Could be an alt, true. But I’m happier to see an alt with 200 levels under their belt. Skill is an unknown factor in the loading screen but at least they’ve demonstrable experience and some gear on that avatar.
I just want to answer your question about why it matters to us that lose… others leave. First, it can take a lot of time to replace you, for example if you use Alft + F4, the game waits 5 minutes for you and does not let anyone else join during that time. And if a maelstrom mission leaves the board, noone can replace you.
Also you not telling us the truth, there is no map where it takes 10 minutes to respawn, maybe 2-3 mins on the hardest ones.
And blaming others for you being a bad player and a bad teammate is just wonderful.
The auric badges make me distrust the player now unfortunately. Just seen too many terrible players donning them. Ministarum Guardian title, on the other hand, is one I admire on people. It shows they’ve literally done their penances throuroughly - which can only be achieved with many hours on each arytype. The badge deserves to be yellow imo.
usually i´m happier with people having higher levels, so at least they´ve been around to see every variant of matches going south once or twice.
that´s not to say whether they actually learned something from the experience or just shrugged it off as an annoying loading screen.
best possible scenario there´d be an elo-like score consisting of every essential puzzle piece, time played, matches won( - points for leaving matches repetitively ), titles to a degree, classes at lvl 30 etc etc.
that´s to adress even my own deficits not playing zealot and psyker so i naturally lack competence in understanding the use of their abilities on a more complex level.
hasn´t true level an option to active an account wide number ? so even if he´s leveling a 35 zealot he could have 2000+veteran and at least now the game and its mechanics.
Hey! Idea Thief
Just kidding, but yeah, maybe.
immitation is the sincerest form of flattery
As much as obvious quitters usually make me laugh, Fatshark should track such stats. In few months any serious serial quitters should lose all associated achievements they were trying to cheese, and rewarded with “Quitter” title instead, both as a Steam achievement and in-game.
I’d love that, lol.
But I guess fatshsrk won’t do it.
I’ve given up caring about titles, frames etc just because of this.
Sometimes you can watch amazing play while waiting to be rescued, but when you see people stumbling around and the map is available only a few minutes longer, it’s better to quit a start a new mission.
Pretty much undoable, as long as game crash more frequently then once per 20 matches.
This would also punish those, who needed to quit for legitimate reasons.
To add my 2 €-cents.
Im good player, not great, but good. Can clear Amaelstroms, pulling my own weight and bit of others’. I’ve earned ASS without cheese, also own the green frame from befofe penance update.
It still happens that I leave the games.
Sometimes because I’d have to wait like 10 minutes per rez.
Sometimes new build just turn out not to be good at all, so I’d be more hindrance then anything.
Sometimes team is just so bad, that I know that we’ll never finish the run, it would be just stretching misery.
Very rarely, but still happens, my morale just brakes. After beeing downed 3 times in a row by some random bullcrap or mine skill issue, it is not hard to tilt.
Generally I don’t think that this is to big of a problem, as long as those leavers use “Leave Mission” instead of Alt-F4, typically new player can join within 30-60 seconds.
To be honest, sometimes I regret that some players don’t leave. They steal resources, fall down all the time, and wandering far away, contributing less to the team, then bot would.
It’s not a serious suggestion, but I’m talking about people who quit the same game multiple times to avoid “death”. Also geniuses who pull demonhosts, and quit, resulting in the demonhost aggroing on another, totally innocent player.
Everyone quits so often, we have enough, we have real life responsibilities to attend to, the build isn’t working, your game lags, your kitchen is on fire or your child is chocking on those Space Marines you tried to paint last Saturday.
There is still a massive gap between that and people who do it CONSTATNTLY to avoid losing achievement progress etc.
Also I’m no dev, but Fatshark can tell the difference between serial alt+F4 abusers, and the game crash because of technical reasons, mods etc.
Of course not, that would be “toxic”. I do remember one of the fps games studios, doing something alone those lines. Like monitoring cheaters for months, putting them in a lobby vs only other cheaters or spawning “ghosts” of other players only to players who they suspected of cheating. It is always funny in my books.
Yeah leavers are the most obnoxious griefers in this sort of game. They also make the lack of lobby browser worse, for when games lose their magic matchmaking flag. You only really see that in maelstroms (where bots are at their most useful). And also if you use many more try mod, since QP flags disappear 1 hour after a scenario was up.
But you get so much ‘but what if they had to do something that wasn’t video game’ when you bring this up that I doubt they’ll ever address it. Maybe don’t sit down and play a coop game that takes half an hour of focused attention to play if you do not have the time to commit to the 4 player co op game. Just a thought.
welp, if its confession time, i did in fact leave one match last week.
just…in…time to hit the porcelain.
that hot chili pizza and monster energy just didn´t mix well.
hope that´s a legit reason
oh, come to think of it (which i honestly havent cause it feels “natural”) i opt out of already started matches.
when the loading ends and the match ain´t fresh, i´m out.
usually i alt+f4 directly once the mission board skips the player timer, but 5x in a row i hope for a just starting match with me taking the place of a bot in time.
so yeah, those are the times i quit.
Leavers will be a big problem for as long as the bots remain as bad as they are.
Leavers ? The kind of players who always runs like a fool in the level ? Who never help you ?! Who take all the ressources (amo, health etc) ? And leave when they’re down or blame you on the tchat of the game ?! … I really HATE this kind of players.
Truth lol.
I particularly loathe the player who dies then goes on to tell you how you’re doing everything wrong… Whilst they’re waiting to be rescued by you…
But I do love the “this team sucks” player who dies and rage quits just 5 mins into the level then you and the team go on to totally smash that mission like pros. Those wins feel extra nice
I can honestly say, and (to be fair) have said over the past 18 months, there are just times where you’ve played for a while and need to dash off. Toilet. Kids. Cat. Wife. Doorbell. All valid reasons. Without wanting to repeatedly flog this dead horse: ffs Fatshark, get your shite together. You have bots. You can let people “take a 2 mins afk”. My god, L4D has outsmarted you 15 years in the past! Make it happen!
Otherwise - when I need to go - altf4 will happen. Why should I waste 20 minutes of adventure!?
