so if someone is outright griefing or clearly joined something way above what they’re actually meant to be playing im supposed to stick around because you dont like people leaving for whatever reason? whats next? gonna be penalizing everyone who (un)willingly fell off a ledge(something i would do if whatever quit penalty system was in place)?
what is it about then? please enlighten us, oh so wise penalizer of unworthy, how would you distinguish someone bored/annoyed from a chronical lobby hopper? i’ve played and finished auric maelstroms with up to 7(!) people walking in, dying and then leaving shortly being replaced by the next one. if any of them actually sticked around they would finish it too. whats the difference between someone who cant be bothered to play and a bot?
it has become the de facto playstyle for many who i guess developed an alt-f4 reflex the moment they’re down, invalidating the concept of rescue.
and it will take some time to disappear, even if fatshark realizes their big mistake with this penance tomorrow and changes it to something more sensible, maybe 50 / 100 auric maelstrom matches, just not in a row, which is the culprit here.
i got the ASS title without cheese (surprised me, i just didn’t track or expect it) but prefer not to wear any titles or big frames.
I guarantee you thats not why its happening. They aren’t bailing because they are down, think about it? They are bailing because they blame either themselves, or another person in the squad, for causing an avoidable setback.
I’m not saying its the right thing to do, but if someone is quitting immediately after going down, its because they are frustrated and want out. And, quite frankly, I wouldn’t want to stop them. Its their choice.
Should there be a penalty for being frustrated at the match? I don’t think so. Sure, it can cause a chain reaction and lead to a wipe, but there are countless more examples where someone leaving does nothing, or in some cases, improves your chances of completion.
As for the penance connection. Who cares? The penances sucked anyway.
It most certainly did become the norm, so no, they not all frustrated, just hardwired this way since the penance shenigans.
Some tries to cheese alt-f4 rejoin, only to realize Fatshark fixed it, and than leave for good. The slot will also be reserved for 5mins, severely slowing runs down.
I don’t expect anyone to be good, I expect them to try, since they have chosen to participate in a co-op run.
for me its pretty much the other way round, if i’m called off (gladly happens rarely) by the time i’m back after fixing whatever needed help appearantly, any kind of timer would have run off anyways.
so the “real” matter takes time in and of itself.
as for the phantom that strikes every second can of energy
well
as for the just recent uptick: it wasnt that bad ever since beta and coincidentaly rose to annoying proportions come new penances.
I take issue with this because the time window to rejoin is really really long. If you’re unlucky, which happens often, you’ll be slammed with something horrible and you only have 3 players to work with. I can never tell if an empty slot is because the ragequitter is refusing to rejoin or if nobody is queueing, and I have suspicions it’s the former.
Maybe don’t punish players for leaving too often, but give them a minute tops to reconnect to the game.
ohhhhh, umm, well that exact thing is something I experience too!
And I have a pretty sound theory.
Lets say I leave the match, with esc + leave game. It immediately puts your group into the option pool for joining in progress.
What happens if instead, I just esc + exit to windows? It holds my spot for 5 minutes. Then, if I still haven’t rejoined, drops my spot and adds you to the list at last.
So, if you crash? Holds your spot. Alt + f4? Holds your spot.
You see where I’m going with this, right?
Ah man, that sounds tricky. A minute just won’t be enough for many people. But I really do get what you’re saying. Its annoying when one person hitting alt +f4 can leave a group with a bot for a crucial part of the game (maybe even on the approach to the endgame lock on joining).
I wish I knew more about the actual hardware and software involved, because maybe there is room to adjust the numbers? Its a tricky conundrum!
This is why whenever I ragequit I always make sure to click on “Leave Session” after forcing disconnect with the mod. I may be mad but I’ll be damned if I throw my team under the bus as well because of negligence.
i mean if you leave for IRL reasons you shouldn’t care too much for a 10m timeout,
maybe give people some grace and repeat offenders get flagged then timeouted
I think there are so few people playing the game that alot of really bad players with little to no experience have seeped into auric and maelstrom. Yesterday i played a maelstrom with a plasma gun vet who never once used any grenade not a single one. He also never once shot a boss with his plasma gun and was just generally a bad player. Then I played a hi intensity game with an ogryn that was actively running back through the map we had already cleared all game and when he wasnt doing that he was standing around behind us doing nothing. He was also regularly way behind us meleeing trash zombies by himself as if he had just played some low int malice mission before hand and his behavior was very odd. Uncortunately the player base is so low a ton of bad players have seeped into maelstrom and auric and there isnt anything we can really do about it.
People were leaving way before the introduction of the title too. They all ragequit, and this has nothing to do with the title. This is why it is has been and still is a problem.
