This is an everyday occurrence now, having at least one or two people leave after going down. They aren’t dcing, they aren’t leaving because they have stuff to do, they are leaving because they are playing above their skill level, dying, then abandoning their team to grace another team with their stupidity. I have seen it 50+ times and have even had leavers rejoin 20 minutes later after they cleaned out their diaper.
I know that feeling. And the reason behind leaving the game (mostly Auric/Maelstrom) is simple: the ,Auric Exemplar" and , Auric Storm Survivor" title. This people don’t understand(willingly of course) that both titles should represent sort of skill of a player. And most people can’t reflect on the own playstyle, so they start to disconnect and blame the team for it.
Its unfortunate but about 90% of the player base cheesed both of those titles so the only way to actually gauge skill is with True Level and playing with them lol
Sadly, the title is not the main reason. I only play auric maelstrom since the difficulty is in the game. There were and are basically no runs where noone leaves. Not before that penance, not after that. If a mission ends with noone leaving, I am generally just shocked.
And in other discussions people convinced me that it is not really possible to do anything about this if you don’t want to punish people who just have bad internet or real lives. So yeah, we will have to tolerate these people.
The penance update brought out all the basement dwellers that leave at the first sign of hardship. The difficulty update brought out all the anti-dark souls players that can’t comprehend difficulty options.
I really want to give you credit for that, but believe me: True Level doesen’t even in a glimpse tell you something about the playerskill. Some people use curious with exp to level up fast. And i can’t tell you how many people with high level get killed by trash mobs because they still doesn’t know how to use melee weapons. It’s easier for me to tell you, how many trees i saw in my live
Oh I know, have had level 500 players be worse than level 50 players. I just use it as a gauge to overall playtime and experience - its a lot better than staring at a blank (30) and having no clue about them lol
for that reason i wore the title only briefly, until discovering it being the reason for the recent surge in disconnects/people leaving.
there had been a few frustrated ones before but ever since that cursed penance it skyrocketed.
whats the meaning of a title soiled by ill-gotten means?
had an ogryn leave midrezz the other day in the first room…
some matches i realize only at the ending screen theres actually 3 people, the bot did an even better job for i hadnt noticed the leaving guy being absent.
Leavers have always been a thing, way before the titles were. Some would do it either way, but I don’t think it’s a coincidence we see a whole lot more of that since that Oct 3:rd introduced all those lovely bugged spawns.
I encounter a dozen soundless trappers every single game, or a soundless mauler from behind, or a soundless dog from where-ever. They’re everywhere, all the time. And if a single one of them catches me odds are I’ll leave the game then and there, I don’t care. Even knowing I’m losing all of the materials and other progression earned thus far. Even when I’m usually the one gathering most of those materials.
Well that and ppl have clearly become very aware of the exploit where leaving & re-joining in time basically means they lost nothing. I never do that myself but I see other pubbers do that all the time and multiple times per match too.
Anyway it’s been almost a year and the AI still cheats on the reg, I will not apologize for leaving bs like that. In fact, if I could I’d install cheats myself right now so I could simply erase every single trapper and other special that failed to play their sound cues the moment they spawned.
I hate cheats. Whether it’s a player or the AI makes no difference at all to me. I’m thoroughly, and completely, out of patience at this point.
Then why do people still quit when they already have those titles?
And why do people quit on lower difficulties as well? (i assume that they do)
To be fair since resapwns can be really crappy to the point of reappearing at the other end of the segmentum, I can understand why folks wouldn’t want to wait 7-10 minutes to be able to play again. Sure, don’t die in the first place but as we all know accidents happen.
then again sometimes, if i take the backseat, there’s a real good performance to enjoy so i dont mind the wait.
learned quite a bit from that in my early days as well.
this and if i’d leave i get zilch for the effort already done.
I am relating to this comment right now. I love this game, but the current state…and I hate to complain and be a baby about it…is awful. Sound cues are broken and inputs/hit registers are dropped all the time, every game, every region. The servers are busted and it has become near unplayable.
Now as for leaving games. It’s nothing personal, but I leave games because it spawns me too far away. I am not going to wait 10 minutes to play again. I am leaving and finding a new game. If there was a set respawn time like 30-60 seconds, it would be fine, but I am not waiting ~50% of the total mission time staring at my screen doing nothing. Death penalty needs to be reviewed and balanced. It doesn’t matter if it was some bugged out BS that I died to or I legitimately died due to my own mistake, I don’t care, I am not waiting that long to play again. If this would unbalance the game, then the game needs to be rebalanced to accommodate a shorter respawn.
With that being said, I absolutely do not care if someone leaves a mission after they have died. Good, fine, it does not affect me at all. As long as I am alive and playing it does not matter. I don’t understand why you think it affects you. You get the bot back and eventually that bot is replaced by another player. If you can’t survive in the meantime or you think it makes the game too hard, then maybe look inward for the issue you have here.
it robs me of a chance to spice up the match and see whether we can 3 or 2 man until the rezz point or fail.
an additional challenge and potentially more fun.
that being said, someone threw the idea of a no-rezz mode kinda like the karnak hardmode, which i’d enjoy.
and though i like the group dynamic, a solo mode with progress could spice things up even more.
Which I’m sure you know isn’t even even that reliable. I’ve had level 30(20) people do Maelstrom just fine. Just yesterday though I had a game with 15 deaths. It was a regular ass Auric Hi-Intens. Only one of my teammates arguably had the skill to play at that difficulty. One of them died relatively early on and Alt+F4’rd because nobody joined on that bot slot for the whole rest of the game and the other one was a lv 30(25) Ogryn with 6 wounds. He made most of those deaths. Imagine how many times he actually fell down if he had 6 wounds and most of those 15 deaths. I picked him up 9 times myself but eventually left the task to the bot or the other dude to pick him up. I politely said “I don’t mean to be rude, but I’m not sure you’ve picked the right difficulty”. No response. I just don’t get it, it simply cannot be fun to play like that. He most likely spent more time on the floor or dead than walking. While he was alive he wouldn’t do much more than pick up all of the ammo (he was a big gun ogryn) and then proceed to sent it to the void along with himself.
Sadly though, besides the acquisition of the titles which can be fixed easily, fixing people leaving or making them play at a difficulty on which they can be effective is impossible.
you’re viewing at this from a personal perspective, based on ambition and reflection.
two things these players lack, like totally.
so for them its “normal” that the round develops the way it does, someone else will fix it, or not.
my guess is the false incentive of materials.
lack of weaponry means the desire to farm plasteel and stuff so the “easiest” way is the setting with the highest grossing reward.
make rewards equal on every setting and those wanting to farm quick will stick to malice and lower.
i’m betting my rashuns on this.
Yeah probably a portion of them wouldn’t bother if resources were the same on all difficulties. But to be completely honest, I don’t think it’s right that you should get rewarded the same stuff for sedition and an Auric Maelstrom. Nothing would change for me personally, in fact as we said it may even alleviate some of the issues but it just feels wrong.
I think i gave that answer in the same reply, no?
I have seen some really awful players with A.S.S. and A.E. adding those titles was a huge mistake they should have made it games played so at the very least they’re forced to play the game.
I have never seen a person with the 500k kills frame be bad at the game just ok-great
force them to play the game long enough and they’ll eventually learn it
time to address alot of things in darktide but you wanna take a wild karking guess as to what WONT happen?
