This 3 day beta was incredible fun. The game feels great to play, and I already know I’m going to be buying it on launch… Unless it launches on the currently promised date
I know most folks are clamouring for quality of life options which can reasonably added in the month we have until release, but the amount of crashes in the beta was so severe that I don’t expect the devs to be able to stabilize the game in just around 45 days without immense crunch conditions. For example on my system, I was incapable of playing for more than 10 minutes at a time if my worker threads were set to anything above… 1. I have a ryxen 7 3700x.
Performance and stability need to be the core focus moving forward, and the people at FatShark deserve to make this game the best version of itself without sacrificing their livelihoods. I have too much respect for these devs for them to be forced into crunch conditions. I think this game, and it’s devs, deserve a delay.
The beta game files were several months old already. The main goal of the beta was to stress test the servers (again), and gather feedback on mechanics - not necessarily performance. Still good info to give though
Did anyone watch the video it asked you to watch in the splash?
It was definitely a good test of bugs and server capabilities. As for performance, was pretty good to be fair, given there arent any dedicated drivers for it… Ryzen 5600x and 3080 running on High definately gave the system a run for its money, not 100% smooth, but not BF2042 levels of bad.
GPU arent really the issue , its more that Darktide seems to hammer 1 Thread on my r7 5700X to the max , my 3080 was without RTX idling at 30-50% because of that at the same FPS than with RTX on lol
Aka a cpu bottleneck.
it defaulted to 13 i think and i changed it to 14 , then tried 4 , 6 ,8 , 10 , 12.
no change ( with 4 performing worst obviously but the max fps were allways except for 4 the same ) it seemed to hammer one of the earlier Threads ( 0-2 ) allways to 88-95% ( aka in MS range as cpu clock likely 100% )
Another Delay thread. Oh boy. If you want the devs to succeed and see the game, the only option is to launch Nov 30. If they delay it again by 6 months or a year, it will loose funding and never be released.
To many games in the past have delayed further and further. At this point its release or it dies. With the funding and success, correct down the road. Most successful games today followed the same process.
Delay will ensure this game never see the light of day.
I have an old computer all around and didnt experience a single crash. It might be an issue with peoples actual computers. Crashs seemed to be common among people with the newest stuff, while people running older stuff had very little or no issues of crashing.
Your question clearly shows you are new here. Yes, it was full version with just cut content. Vermintide 2 was exactly the same disaster on launch, it was 1:1 the beta with all problems, bugs and performance issues. They ignored the feedback, didn’t delay the game and lost like 90% players in first few weeks because it was just alpha-fiesta.
You really belive it? Countless examples shows it is just PR talk, the beta is usually almost 1:1 what you will get on release. Vermintide 2 was the same, Battlefield 2042 was the same, Fallout 76 was the same, Overwatch 2 was the same and many others.
The whole “beta is on older build” is just industry BS to make sure people will pre-order after getting hyped.

This.
So much this.
How on Terra is it still possible after the hundreds of examples in recent years to still be so naive as to think that the beta and the release will be two completely different builds…
