There's apparently a "booster" type system in the code. Hopefully not yet another paid system?

This cannot be emphasized enough: Anyone who is inclined to give anyone at FS still the benefit of the doubt, just look at this new revelation and ask yourself if all the annoying things in the game are not the result of incompetence, but of malicious calculation.
No shared inventory and deliberately grindy weeklies for each character, paired with TWO non-premium currencies are deliberate choices to give you motivation to buy boosts for your lesser played characters. No one at FS has, so far, given any reasonable explanation why the inventory is handled the way it is - and there simply is none. Want me to prove it? Very simple:

  1. Shared inventory worked in VT2, and quite well at that. Switching heroes was relatively effortless, worked without having to basically reboot the whole game, and so did crafting and sharing both resources as well as necklaces, trinkets and charms - and shillings.
  2. Aquilas are shared between characters, so any excuse of this being an oversight and / or impossible can be identified as a blatant lie very quickly. If the premium currency can be shared easily between all characters, so could everything else.

Once the holidays are over, their PR department will come up with something to appease the player base with more business mumbo-jumbo, half-hearted excuses and promises that are only promises at first glance.
Just read what anyone is saying very diligently: Whenever someone says “We don’t intend to do X” or “We have no plan to do Y”, then you know that it will happen. They are not saying: “It won’t happen, promise!”.

and here I was hoping for something similar to potions in vermintide 2, performance enhancers for combat (or something like that) and ofc they go full r3t@rd

What do you think is the more likely scenario :

Fatshark will completely rip out all the systems (and their intent) and replace them with new systems based off the feedback they have received

Fatshark will continue ahead with the systems and the intent they are going for but will tweak those systems according to feedback

Fatshark could have increased the loot cycle in many ways during the beta and during the pre-release with all the feedback they got. They did not. So they are not going to change how this works and I think its foolish to think they will. Whatever plan they have for the gameplay loop of Darktide they are going ahead with it until its fully developed and deployed it would seem.

If boosts are coming, boosts are coming and I doubt we can change that. If its set in stone that they are coming, saying ‘I dont want them’ will just be ignored, but saying ‘I want them to not be premium exclusive’ might not.

I would never buy a boost for this game with money.

The power level of the boosts doesn’t seem large enough to be cash shop. At least I can’t see anyone paying money for 20% experience increase/dockets increase.

0.99, 1.99.

Would sell like hot cakes.

I would still be very upset if they simultaneously made it so you could get boosts with either in-game currency or paid. As other people mentioned, this means that they’re intentionally going to keep the horrific “silo” system to keep the grind per character to try and encourage people to pay money to make it less annoying.

I want them to fix the silo grind, and I don’t want them to have more than a small handful of paid features in an already paid game (though with the 100+ paid cosmetic leak, that’s already a losing battle). I want this to be a game, not a paid service to have even more money funneled into.

That’s the worst part. If they do monetize it, no matter how much we complain, or “vOtE WiTh oUr WaLlEts” sht like this apparently sells exceedingly well even if it’s completely anti-consumer. People are going to see this as a way to fix “how annoying the grind is” with their silo “design intent” rather than actually work with the developers to improve their design into something that makes both parties happy - you know. Like in VT1 & 2.

Why make good games anymore if you can just make a game centered around making people spend even more money - at this point it’s proven to work. I’m genuinely scared/sad that we might be at a point of no return with this kind of stuff.

This. They said they would fix Aquilas so we can buy the correct amounts and it still hasnt been done.

Its too late now. 80% of the player base is gone. They made that extra money already.

They knew what they were doing. There is no fvcking way they didnt anticipate any of that and it was just an error.

We are already at that point. Heck, that is how the world works unfortunately and its now fully into gaming as well. Instant gratification.

Albeit I do agree that people can spend their earn money the way they want. Its just that gaming has become predatory towards that weakness.

I have just lost faith in Fatshark. They have had such a long time to change the game before now and they have not. Nothing really changed from the Beta, nothing at all changed from the Pre-Release and I have no faith anything will change now.

Sure they will tweak things a little, like token adjustments to look like they are listening to feedback but the core will remain the same.

I don’t want boons (free/ingame/premium or otherwise) to help with gear acquisition but its probably the best we will get. So I really hope its not premium only because as I said I won’t be spending money on boosts

Note that the shared inventories in VT2 fully works only between the careers of the same character, which is kind of OK since characters have their own specific weapons (OK, let’s ignore that some of them were the same). Majority of weapons in DT could be shared. Which brings me back to my increasingly strong feeling how this game lacks not only in character, but also in item diversity. :disappointed:

Personally, I find that Boons could be interesting providing they give nice challenges. I would definitely like the ability to apply additional challenges for greater rewards provided they’re skill based and beneficial to the team.

I’m already incredibly frustrated at the RNG Mission board gate-keeping me and my friends from playing the levels we want at the difficulty we want, so hopefully that gets fixed at some point but if boons help make it more interest or helps diversify challenge then that would help a lot imo

Making games is hard, don’t you know?

consider this stolen

If it’s immeasurably complex then why are other game companies able to pull it off? Are they cheating?

I think they are. It’s called listening to your players. Maybe Fatshark can figure this cheat code out sooner rather than later.

Here’s hoping they don’t add it and say “it’s not pay to win it’s just to speed up leveling and currency gain!” A rate at which they have complete control over by the way. It’s a classic scummy move, creating a problem to sell us a solution.

If the booster is 50% they could always just boost net gains by 50%! Which also tells me that whatever the amount of after a booster is the “intended” amount.

or if they do provide both an in-game currency & aquilla options it’ll just be “Oh but see you don’t have to spend money if you don’t want to”

If this turns into paid boosts FatShark. Then you as a company are dead to me. I will leave Darktide, warn all others against your games and never will I touch another game that you have had a hand in ever again. Period.

I had hoped Tencents influence would not destroy you fully. Please don’t kill that hope…

People absolutely will pay for XP boosters if offered. So many gamers buy those trying to rush to max level in games.
