The Vanguard Bundle

Hey can we get the Vanguard Bundle put into the game? I know it was given to PC players as a gift over two years ago (I got the game on PC a month too late and paid full price for the Imperial Edition). It just seems wild to me that armor sets directly related to the lore of the game are not available to earn in game or buy as cosmetic DLC (I would gladly pay for this) and is not available to console players or PC players that bought into the game after an arbitrary date. I would understand if it was a guard regiment not present on Tertium or something like that which you see in the premium store commodore’s vestures. This is a regiment in the game that you work with and is integral to the lore of the game. Yet most of the player base is not able to acquire it, why? It makes no sense and is super unfair to those of us currently playing the game.

it was meant to be a reward for people who didn’t refund the game despite it releasing in a very questionable state, it definitely would be even more unfair to just give it to everyone

I disagree, if those players got it for free and other players had to pay for it I think that would be more then fair. Locking cosmetics like that just discourages players who want to get into the game. This is why Space Marine 2 sells so much better. When they made the preorder exclusive cosmetics or the Ultra Edition exclusive Champion Skin available to everyone to buy I didn’t complain and neither did the community. When exclusive Twitch drops were made available for everyone to earn in game I didn’t complain and neither did the community. I think Darktide would be a more inviting game for players if they followed the same strategy, permanently locking cosmetics from future players is just a huge bummer and hurts sales. They should have just gave those early adopters free aquilas instead of locking a cosmetic bundle especially one so specifically tied to the lore of the game.

honestly i disagree based on the rationale that what you’re describing is true for all premium cosmetics in the game because they’re in a fomo store and most of them just rotated out at some point and never came back, which your suggestion would indirectly support

if they did open up the store and stop the fomo stuff i probably wouldn’t have an issue with it being purchasable, i think it’d take away from the “thank you” a bit but it’s whatever. but so long as it’s fomo then the quoted argument is weak and doesn’t apply. if the alternative is the fomo store i want them to stay exclusive for the people who actually supported early development

Well I definitely agree with opening up the premium cosmetic store and doing away with the FOMO mechanics. They should also reduce the prices and give us more ways to earn aquilas in game while they are at it. I’d spend so much more money if more stuff was available and I didn’t feel completely ripped off by the prices

having gatekept cosmetics is actually unfair.

i have this vanguard bundle but i’d hope new players can access these due to the fact game already lacks of free cosmetics and customization. and vanguard is not that are even that good looking to begin with.

this argument about unfair it was the same stuff with portrait frames in vermintide 2.
" nooo portrait frames need to remain exclusive or it would be unfair"

turns out Fatshark decided to release portrait frames from special events to everyone again to obtain. morale of the story = everyone happy and it was a healthy change. instead of doing fomo and exclusivity. now they re-releasing portrait frames that were only obtainable during 2018.

anyway you could still release these skins in the premium shop or unlocking through penances (since they are ugly anyway) and people that already have it, they don’t need to do any penance for it and automatically unlocked.

it was also a scuffed gift by the way, because they were supposed to give us aquilas.

when xbox players or whatever got a deal promo getting 14,000 aquilas or something like that just for buying it on release, meanwhile us pc players got a ugly set and 0 aquilas as compensation. despite being the actual original supporters of the game

it’s not really fomo hough, it’s a thank-you reward of sorts for early supporters. making it available to everyone kind of takes the “thank you” back

look at it this way: the game has something like 200 cosmetic sets. on the store you can buy like, 20 at a time or something. if we’re talking making cosmetics available to anyone clearly that’s the priority right? rather than the one set that was specifically given to people who early supported the botched release, we should be looking at the 90% of cosmetics in this game that are not available for no good reason other than fomo

i would agree with you if it was just a random event reward. it was specifically meant to give something unique, cool and exclusive to players who bought the game early though, not a fomo reward. it becomes meaningless if it cycles back in.

it is technically fomo, because it was something you could obtain only if you bought the game at a certain period. but i’m not even sure if people knew about this and had a deadline to act on. because it only happened i think because of the drama with xbox getting a deal better than pc.

and Fatshark decided to do something to compensate and giving something to the pc players to make it even. it wasn’t because of a thank you for early supporters. but it turns out that 14,000 aquilas or whatever they were for xbox, was much better than the vanguard bundle imo.

i dont think it had anything to do with this. to begin with, nobody reasonable actually thinks the gamespass aquila thing was unfair right? like you know darktide is included in a gamespass subscription so they have no reason to buy the game? it’s just “get aquilas for 40 dollars” because you’re buying a game for 40 dollars that you don’t actually need to buy

i mean to begin with didn’t gamespass players who bought the game via the 14k aquila thing ALSO get the vanguard set? how can it be compensation for that

it was, but it wasn’t only for gamepass. it was also for xbox players. people that bought the game upon release for xbox, they were granted 14,000 aquilas, which by the way is more than 1 set.

meanwhile pc players, getting scammed of the 14,000 aquilas? why it is ok the other way around? xbox and game pass players getting vanguard and 14k aquilas

but pc players not getting that despite being the actual og supporters.
and this 14k promo deal it was even if you were buying the base version, so not the deluxe.

forgot even about this :woman_facepalming:

i dont think you get it

  1. gamespass can play darktide for just the sub fee, they pay 40 dollars for 14k aquilas which is how much they cost ingame no? if they didnt get aquilas for it they would have no reason to ever buy the game

  2. gamespass players got the vanguard bundle too so how can it be “to make up for” that

yes ok but you forgetting about the xbox players too?

but u realize that xbox players can just log into the game on pc real quick and get it right? it’s shared

gamepass is not for 40$

Put 'em in the Commissary for an absolute premium (no Acquilas tho, or better yet charge 14k ). I’d be satisfied with a lore tooltip to explain the history of the vanguards.

Don’t care much for FOMO, surely enough of us OGs have kicked the bucket that there are spare uniforms laying about if we are speaking thematically!

game is playable without buying on gamespass

game costs 40 dollars to buy

why would they buy it if not getting aquilas worth 40 dollars on purchase?

from what i reckon, microsoft game pass darktide and xbox darktide are distinct, to the point xbox players wanted to transfer their progress across versions.

but i’m not sure about this.

u reckon wrong

vanguard bundle was not to make up for the 14k aqula cause all the people who got those could still get the vanguard bundle too
