Also, i think partially cosmetics are so bad cause rejects can’t have 100% indentical look as comissar or regiment soldiers, so it’s like we have a budget cosplay that was approved by GW. If it’s so then rejects theme sucks even more and means there will not be any lore accurate skins. Just an inquisitorial warband would have been so much better.
agree, the moment they told us its going to be rejects i tought that, why limit yourself
In before something something licensing. But you’re right. Especially after Vermintide, where we did play hero characters (albeit “undercover”) they could have easily gone with a hero setup yet again.
Part of me wants to say GW restricted it, but I don’t know that.
to my knowledge GW doesn’t restrict much in regard to story setting/characters and their status
what they mostly look at is wether or not the product is meeting coherency with their established lore
Yeah, also i don’t know how (if) there will be admech or arbites they gonna make it a reject, especially admech, doesn’t make sense mechanicus being put in a regular prison, like they are separated faction and rip out implants for punishment.
Like they can be non-rejects, but cinematics will make no sense then. Just with regular warband it realy could’ve been anything, even xenos or sororitas.
While we’re at it, can we please get the Kasrkin carapace cuirass reworked so that it’s not missing half of the abdominal plating and leaving our Veterans’ guts exposed?
That poor guardsman on the right saw the absolute state of veteran armour in darktide.
He’s now scarred for life.
This all just solidifies the fact that I will not be spending a single penny in the cosmetics shop until they have sorted their shop out.
I also decided not to spend a single penny more in the V2 shop until they sort this out.
“What would sort it out?” I definitely hear you ask:
- Premium currency earnable in-game would be a guarantee. Right away I would give them money. I would easily spend £100 or more if they did this.
or - Remove the FOMO aspect of the shop, fix the issues with many cosmetics and allow colouring and include colour patterns in the sets instead of selling them seperately would be the other. ALL of these. Not just remove FOMO, not just fixing clipping and GW model consistency and not just colours. ALL of these. I would buy a few select cosmetics if they did this instead.
Out of everything, the FOMO cash grab is the aspect of this game I am most disappointed with. Words cannot convey my anger at how the shop, colouring and lack of appreciation to detail to GW’s designs the sets have. Im livid, fuming, seething, not coping, bubbling furiously, grinding my brain-gears, lamenting, indignant, outraged!!! Id need a Thesaurus to elaborate further.
Darktide’s cash shop is genuinely the worst premium shop I’ve personally seen in any game, Its actively hostile towards it’s potential consumers. I’ve wanted to support the game when it had a positive future, but the cash shop’s revolting design kept putting me off
you dumb lying karker, every third game right now sells a gamble for getting the item you want at cash money prices and you’re calling darktide the worst? get out of here.
Its their own opinion and its valid. Even if its light hyperbole, DTs is among the worst Iv ever seen too. Maybe thats because I generally dont play games with gatcha or FOMO mechanics much.
Anthems shop was quite bad for this except you could earn the karkin currency in game, albeit at a medium rare grind with no chips or peas!
The only other games with shops almost this bad that I can think of are free. Warframe and Path of Exile. On Warframe you can both earn the premium currency AND its free. PoE is at least free, although I hate their pricing.
I know there ARE other games, but I either dont play them or dont know them or maybe a few Iv forgotton over the years.
Anthem at least let you change the colour and the texture of your armour
Dt does neither of these and instead chooses go with an even worse system of let’s just sell reskins at full price. This is quite literally worse than every single AAA store on the market period.
I fail to see how people think this is ok or defend a company doing this.
im not defending Fatshark, i despise any ingame stores frankly, but “The worst the idustry has to offer”
is a really, really, really low bar
That’s why I said “personally seen” not “worst in the industry” I will admit, I don’t follow up with the latest cash grabs circling the industry anymore
But there’s so many things wrong with this cash shop, you can’t deny that it’s poor quality stands out, it’s bad for both consumers and fatshark’s income
-
The snarky vendor npc as genuinely made me close the window when I was considering looking at what’s available on multiple occasions
-
There’s that time around the games initial release, where one of the ex-community managers implied that player’s were too dumb to use a catalog, rationalizing the rotating shop
-
the rotating selection is probably there to encourage impulse purchases, which is just hostile to the consumer. Not only that, but when I’ve decided that I did want an old skin, it’s no longer in rotation, and very well may never again.
-
The blatant price increases are just insulting
-
The mismatched sets are an obvious attempt to squeeze multiple purchases from a customer
-
often, items and sets will just come back with nothing more than a recolor, and a price increase
-
the outsourced materials seem to be made by workers with no interest or concern for accuracy, which is just a sign of apathy from the primary seller, fatshark. This is a problem when you’re asking for a premium price on already established themes, characters, and armies.
I don’t know about you, but darktide’s monetization has been exhausting for me. Multiple times I’ve wanted to give money just to support a game that I want to see succeed, but I just can’t bring myself to. I feel like I’d be giving money to a bully. It’s not the shop itself I have an issue with, I’d rather the real content in the game be free, with cosmetics being paid. But this shop has been grossly mishandled.
The fact that a Call of Duty collab is much more faithful to the source material and probably cheaper than whatever Fatshark is doing is absolutely disheartening. COD got a full carapace armored guardsman with a complete helmet (with a visor, do you know what a visor is Fatshark ?) before the only official Warhammer 40k still actively developped (if we can call the current pace of content “actively developped”) featuring regular human beings as main characters
Of course, then you’d be playing Call of Duty, and I don’t know about you all, but I’m not sure I could take someone seriously if they tried to play the “our devs don’t respect our time and money” card if they actively play CoD.
The fact Activision in a crappy cross over did a better job with guard cosmetics than the official licensed 40k game has done in a year
Is the main point of contention
Fatshark being scared by veteran existing carapace helmet getting a visor or having any sort of armour plating over his abdomen while it’s absolutely fine for zealots to have that while cod slop gets it spot on first try it’s a pretty solid inditement of fatshark quality control and cosmetic design team.
Pretty sure both of these were outsourced to a cheap Chinese subsidiary if I remember the game credits right.
The quality control was outsourced to their players.
If we had a system like rust or tf2 where community created cosmetics can be added to the game
The quality of dt cosmetics would be a lot higher
