How is it that DT is fumbling so severely with their cash shop releases?
FootKnight skins in VT2 were always an instant buy. There were some lower qualitly ones, like the Huntsman variants, but overall they were fancy additions I just wanted to have.
DT just manages to crush my desire to buy skins every single time. Stuff that should big hits, like the Kriegers, got massacred. Now the Scions are about to feel Fatsharks desire to “reinvent” iconic regiment garments in a way that makes it look like someone wanted to circumvent GWs license. DT is a GW licensed game, right? There is no reason at all to go the Palworld route. They just do it for… what reason?
Whats the point? Just stay faithful to the originals. Dont fling cheap knockoff looking stuff at us anymore.
Just as an FYI this wasn’t even supposed to be in the backend yet - but thank you for your write up on the cuirass shape! I’ll pass this feedback on for sure.
There is an approval process with GW so any skins are up to their standards already! They may not always be a 1:1 with the model and open to a bit more creative interpretation, and of course there are restrictions of what we can do in game (especially with clipping being such an issue).
Thank you for transmitting the feedback regarding the cuirass shape, and the lack of gloves/dataslates.
I believe this back and forth feedback will be beneficial to both Fatshark and their customers. As the more accurate the model is, the more likely people are going to purchase it and praise the work that has been achieved in order to reach this accuracy.
Of course we understand some form of creative interpretation is to be expected for sure, when it comes to making the shapes more photorealistic so as not to clash with darktide artstyle, which is aiming for human proportions. And in some cases, it’s obviously fair to reduce the size of a shoulderpad so that it doesn’t looks like it’s flying or comically oversized.
But this is one of the cases where the “creative interpretation” of the model goes too far. And the artist has taken too much liberty with the original model. So its departure from the source material became too excessive.
And it is lucky that it ended on the backend, as it allowed people to express some form of feedback in a civil manner.
That is why I believe upcoming cosmetics should be advertised on the various social platforms avalaible for darktide, the forums, discord, reddit, twitter, this way they would be able to generate both engagement and feedback from the community regarding these outfits. Which would surely increase the number of customers willing to purchase these cosmetics rather than to attract complaints if the cosmetics do not meet the expectations of the customers when they are released.
Yeah, the bare neck and hands is more than enough to ensure I’d never pick this up, even if the cuirass issue wasn’t present. Just doesn’t look right/complete
Let’s be honest though it’ll still be all over the place and people pretend it looks badass. Kind of like the commissar set which looks absolutely disgraceful, no gloves, wrinkly coat that doesn’t fit, hat proportioned in an extremely strange way, all in combination making your character look like a 10 year old who raided his dads cabinet. Even worse on female characters because the coat comes in one size only.
Yet I see people wear it constantly and roleplay as cool commissars with ti etc. For WH40k nerds it’s more about the fantasy than the actual looks. So they’ll pay and there’s no real reason to improve it
