We have tons of bugs, cheats, mods that ressurects u, lack of content, rng shop, useless melk, fomo cosmetics, lack of information about updates in PAY TO PLAY GAME.
It’s just unisex armor – if anything that’s probably more lore-friendly.
Also if you’re going to run around with sack on your head and then complain your character is not distinct enough… even if it’s just for demo purposes I know the Sackville Bagginses are out there
Interesting that you can have so many facial customisations, but most headpieces cover them up entirely!
Male and female bodies have different proportions. I don’t need double DD breasts and a deep cleavage on every female cosmetics - a female stature would be a good start.
And yes - as we know from character creation that our female do have visible breasts (I‘d guess C cup but I am no expert) their contours would show beneath some of the tighter clothing. That has nothing to do with sex sells. It’s just lazy that they seem to use only scaled down male cosmetics.
The inability of her character to actually look female is definitely annoying for my wife - and one of the reasons she is already losing interest.
They charge for skins. @Ralendil asks that these products they sell are improved to match their absurd price tag. What is your problem with that?
My problem is that asking the GAME developer to finish the SKIN is not the most rational idea when it comes to the incompleteness of the product as a whole.
This is called “concept substitution”.
It seems to you that if there is no “game”, then you can ask for something else.
We have to admit to ourselves that we are buying a game to, well, I do not know, play it.
DARKTIDE is a game about shooting, slicing and cleansing heretics, not a clothing simulator for “body type 1” and “body type 2”
They outsource their cosmetics modelling anyway so it’s not even work they’d have to commit time towards.
Yes, in a game in 2024, a female should at least appear female.
Some of the premium cosmetics on females looks ridiculous and comical, when it shouldn’t. It makes them look like they have insane giant rectangular bodies.
Look, you can argue that dev time should be best spent on, you know, developing the game, and I don’t disagree with that, but these situations aren’t mutually exclusive. Though they should be.
What I mean by that is that FatShark made the mistake of splitting their attention. @Ralendil obviously didn’t receive a high quality end product. I defy you to claim otherwise because, I mean, Jesus, just look at it. FatShark is the one releasing this and they’re responsible for their mistakes. Especially if they’re charging money. They should either up their quality or provide a refund.
The skins are made by a third party but are sold by FS. Hence OP correctly complains to FS - and if they told their contractor to do a better job none of their own resources would be spent.
But even if FS created the skins - the dev responsible for player skins would very likely not be responsible for crafting/balance/netcode. So even then FS could tackle several issues at the same time.
You give no valid reason why it‘s ok for paid cosmetics to suck or why @Ralendil who also criticises other aspects of the game regularly shouldn’t criticise bad skins as well.
Btw: The prospect of selling skins in the future is basically the only reason FS is still further improving the game. If nobody buys skins they have no further income in which case they’ll drop the product and move on.
So the quality of these skins is extremely important for the future of DT in general.
Agreed. I refuse to buy any skins since well… There arent any, at least for a female.
It doesnt matter how bulky the armor is, the difference would almost always show.
Hell at least the difference in the shoulders would already be enough and wouldnt even take that much effort to adjust.
Female models don’t need humongous mammary glands, but what they do need is proper body proportions. Too many cosmetics are straight up male, unadjusted for shoulders/torso/hips/etc, resulting in goofy looking barrel chested wide-shouldered female combatants that are only distinguishable by viewing the character’s face. Looking at you Commissar cosmetic.
But that’s what you get with outsourced cosmetics from a digital sweatshop on the other side of the planet.
Lots of people however did pay for cosmetics, and that’s the game’s one ongoing source of revenue to continue justifying updates. Fatshark charges for those cosmetics, and the wares they sell are, in many cases, crap. Improving those doesn’t cut into Fatshark’s development time for gameplay stuff because the cosmetics are outsourced in the first place, the people working on bugs and new guns and new levels in Sweden aren’t the same people handling cosmetics, that’s a Chinese studio many thousands of miles away.
