The future of Darktide is vague (a transparency issue)

Hey, what the hell? Why is there some kind of hell going on in here? In one of the threads I made 2 reply comments, both implying an end to the conversation and conflict with 1 person, but no, even so he(they) took offence and pelted me with complaints. What is this pathetic attempt to give users the power to silence others (Forum moderators should do that!).

And here there’s a whole thread filled with toxic crap that Elodie is constantly whining about (+ violates it himself) and nobody cares?

Moderator, sort it out.

Huwha? visible confusion

I have only maintained civility and reciprocated what is sent my direction. If you have an issue, perhaps you’d like to clarify further? I’ve stayed on topic.

Even then, the test results are subject to bias with interpretation.

I honestly hadn’t considered Oceania. I use the West NA servers and West NA in any game is pretty quiet past 9pm. This game doesn’t have that problem.

I agree though, A lobby browser could help.

Hey! That’s a pretty good meme, here’s one I think you’ll like!

I suppose you didn’t recognise your own words – that was me poking a little fun at you :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Hey what do you know, the sky is blue.

All this to say it’s more useful to look at games within Darktide’s genres (competitors) than not, and player count is in fact a useful metric with which to perform some observations on.

No, I didn’t pick up on that. Sorry I missed it.

Well, I respect you, too, Riku. You always argue your points well. It’s easier to digest when something is backed up by reason.

That’s exactly what they said they would do. At the start of this year, they said Penance update first, crafting / itemization update second.

So following that timeline the next big update will be itemization.

Lost their minds in a good way, because finally the elephant in the porcellan store was mentioned. An acknowledgement, that things have to be done. Shifted around. Will it go in the right direction? We will see. But Catfish indicated we should hold onto bricked weapons - Insinuating we’ll be able to change them up.

Pretty sure the current system is a holdover until the real thing is done. Just like the early classes or penances. We got the game 2 years too early.

Hilariously Division 2 is highly customizable. You can do so much with the gear and find many ways to upgrade it, too. Take customizations off again, etc.
And the stuff you can upgrade is interesting. You can turn a 21 shot pistol into a 40 shot pistol if you play your cards right.
I main pistols in that game and it’s as viable as any other gun type.

Yeah, not having stuttering with an RTX 4080. Of course that isn’t going to be that terrible. I have quite terribad perfomance and I run an RTX 3070Ti with the same CPU you have. Also 32GB RAM.
That’s terrible.

Compare with PirateSoftware, who released Heartbound - The CEO of that small studio streams every day of the weak, his work hours and his free time. He has balanced takes on almost anything and gives people advice how to do their own programming, marketing and so much more.
The guy is a one-person sales force for his game, polar opposite of Fatshark. Seeing that sort of thing does put Fatshark’s communication in perspective.

I’m not saying “Hey Fatshark, stream every day”. But getting left on silence for months on end is something else after all.

every time the CEO of fatshark as streamed in english he’s gotten confused and said something that wasn’t true but many people had been demanding because he misunderstands someone’s (admittadly intentionally misleading) comments and tried to meet their enthusiasm.

fatshark needs to have people whose job is just keeping the CEO away from the fanbase because that has never gone well.

Oh yes, but were you there for the launch of Division 2? The system has been, let’s say, fixed a great deal compared to what it launched with. At launch it was at least as restrictive as DT, capable of changing only one thing per item, and with no way to grind for a specific item or even class of item. It was a disaster.

In other words - even in an actual looter shooter that showers you with loot, the power budget system with completely random stats and completely random rewards was way too much, making it impossible to get items you wanted, or to create a meaningful build. They had to build in mitigation after mitigation, fixing it over a long time.

RNG is why I and many others put down darktide. and helldivers came along at the right time. If they bother fixing rng I’ll try it again, Maybe

Aye yeah. People may not make purchasing decisions about Darktide vis-a-vis RNG crafting (particularly before experiencing it first hand), but they absolutely stop playing over it.

Has he really?
In either case, he doesn’t have to get carried away by the enthusiasm of his fans.
Caving to fan demand is yet another trap many creators fall into (and I don’t blame them for that, but it’s something that doesn’t have to happen).

Thor, the CEO of PirateSoftware for instance does confidently rebuff people, when they tell him their ideas or what they expect and it doesn’t fit. But that’s the thing. Confidence.

True, Division had a lot of updates.

I’ve also ran it with a 1060 GTX 12 GB (or was it 8?) What is your VRAM?

Oh sh*t, really? I quit playing the Division before that happened i guess, because obtaining new good gear was a huge ordeal. Maybe i should go see what’s happening there.

On second thought, maybe not, it’s a ubisoft game after all.

Why do you want other people’s non-expert opinion to dictate your value in the game you bought.

We on that cattle type shi.

So, in five days, I’ve managed to gather the following list of things Fatshark has let quietly die:

Solo Mode: abandoned

Aquila packs available through more than just buying them/getting them with the game: never happened

The 100 Aquilas pack: Never appeared

‘Retroactive penance completion’: At minimum, did not ship with the PoR update.

This is why nobody thinks highly of Fatshark PR. There’s only so many instances of not following through on the things you say you’ll do before people just give up and assume you’re out to get them, or just straight up incompetent.

A good number of these could be addressed forthrightly and honestly. But until they are, they’re just broken promises.

no, we got this. the retroactively completed all penances that they had data recorded for. penances that required new tracking couldn’t be filled because the data didn’t exist. it’s why i was able to log in and get like half to 2/3ds of the penance rewards track before i played a game.

have they come out and said this, or is this just your personal opinion?

There were no additional qualifiers.

Not to mention that while plenty of penances did autocomplete, there were plenty of penances we know they track the stats for, that didn’t autocomplete. So Jakal is wrong there too.
