Eh, no one wants to create martyrs… Except the imperium.
It is amazing how across many months this thread reached 1000 posts in November 2023. 2 months later exponentially grown and shortly to be 2000.
Closing the thread would just be way of dismissing crafting opinions and won’t be well received. It has been kept open on purpose. Never reached a 7 day timeout last response to close either, so the subject of the matter remains an issue.
Question is - How do FS decide or quantify “Players will get bored if reached ideal weapons too quickly and lose engagement” or “If crafting too much grind, would it cause loss of engagement anyway”. If they unlock completely they can’t revert back to nerf again, like taking a gift away from someone. It has to be middle ground of cost to players for freedom to unlock.
But decision has felt very static in this for a year. In fact only decision was still 2 locks in different way, slightly made crafting easier.
New players. People who have played for months or since launch. They have benefit of being way ahead on their weapon collection. New players first time join and see the road ahead is very far so can be off putting to consider time investment. New players are who they want to attract though $$$, legacy players already bought the game. Sure they get royalties from game pass, but steam direct purchase even better.
As time goes by legacy players will get less vocal due to reaching desired inventory over months, ones who already paid for the game. It hurts new players more, the very ones they want to attract most.
Is this a compendium of all the posts complaining about the dog crafting system? This is pure genius xD
Might as well bump with what I was saying in another thread:
I don’t recall what the usual number to calculate is on how many hundred people’s feelings are represented by each person who actually takes the time to say something, but I think it was about 500.
Now, if I remember right, that was what congress assumed would vote according to each letter they got when I was a kid. As such, if we guess the 512 in the memorial represent about 256,000 people’s feelings over crafting… we aren’t going to be far wrong.
It’s glorious.
And now, you are a part of it >:)
This has been my extended friend group’s experience.
Out of the 12 or so friends and family…
3 of us have played on and off since launch (500-600 hours each).
We finally convinced 3 others to give it a try last fall when the class rework landed. They all gave up in short order. 2 didn’t last 10 hours. 1 gave up after hitting level 30. They all said the RNG cliff they were starring up wasn’t worth trying to climb to feel competitive and on-par with the rest of us. They convinced the other 6 not to waste to their time.
The game is entirely hindered by this crafting system that drives people away.
I mean, hinders me too. I have 455 hours in Darktide and played wide. All classes. I didn’t play tall per character so I had to focus on specific weapons. And I made progress when there was the crafting refund glitch.
The new shovels released, and I was pretty interested. I love the X1X (I believe) on the ogyrn… But I have never hunted for shovels not extracted their blessings. Focused all on the bully clubs.
And then I just look at what it will take to get good bases and blessings (let alone perk combos) and I just sigh and say “forget it”. And now I go play hell divers 2. Which my friend group loves. Honestly, even if they fixed crafting today with void crew and hell divers 2 I doubt I could get my friend group to really invest in it. Fatshark missed their shot.
I kinda think Fatshark is never going to change the system, and instead that they plan on addressing the power problem by just making the players so OP that weapons and blessings won’t matter.
I wish that at least we knew something. This silence is deafening. If they continue like this, they will drive even us, veteran players away with the level of neglicence they keep showing towards us.
How does one give more than one “like” on these forums?
a cornucopia, if you will. A fruit of their loom, as it were. A smorgasbord of shenanigans, if it may.
Yeah i got the same feeling sadly. Only thing really holding helldivers2 back right now is the server issues and even that has gotten more CM/dev updates in past few days, than we get updates on darktides progress in 6 months.
Like all the way down, and you will increase the sum total of the engagement on the post. You might skip anyone trolling, but even that will do something.
Dito. Almost 50 hours since launch, all with the pals…
I promised I’ll write HD2 up in here earlier, but I’ve been busy playing it …
You’re all testing my resolve.
I’m having traitorous thoughts about fighting for Super Earth instead of for Atoma…
I’m hoping against all odds that Fatshark will deliver eventually…
Both in terms of usable cosmetics (fully sealed heavy armor, or Tempestus Scions armor, or good looking Psyker coat - full one, not “tucked in”, ugh) and this damned crafting…
Also story and campaign…
you think you will ever get semi decent armor pieces without paying 1/3 of an actual good game? the trend doesn’t look great in your favor
Yeah, I’m done, although in the interest of honesty, the last straw wasn’t really the crafting, it was the realization that Fatshark employs some weirdo mutant who thinks a bomber jacket gets tucked into their goddamn pants.
Incredibly suspect judgement being displayed by management.
You know… This HD2, it’s strange at first…
You observe some dev talk, and you think “yeahyeah… you say that… but I know better!”, and then you hop on the game, and they weren’t misleading or lying…?
And then you start to notice these strange sensations - no gacha? You get a gun and it’s good, does what it does and you don’t need another 11 systems to proc just to make it work?
You start to feel stranger… An hour has passed and you’re already on your third dive, blasting away, moment-to-moment… No FOMO, nothing keeping you away from the action…
You start considering builds and upgrade paths… Because you progress at a steady pace and every dive or two you’re poised for a new unlock…
And somewhere there, you might notice… You’re having… fun.
