The Crafting Memorial; lest we forget

Seemed appropriate.

Everything ive seen so far of helldivers 2 is turning it more and more into what i wanted darktide to be lol

I’ve come to despise server hosted games too. Most of the time the leading factor for a company choosing to make a game server hosted is as an anti-pirating measure. The end result tends to seem like pouring shlt over something so no one will steal it.

Not to mention that you are playing on borrowed time. When the servers go down the game dies.

It should be mandatory that whenever a company does not wish to support a game any longer the server software is made free to the public so that the game can live on. Nobody can argue that a company must pay for server upkeep, but if somebody else wants to do it then they should be able to.

Too many games die. It’s a part of our history and our heritage, just like films and books.

… this went off topic fast.

I looked into this.

Whilst Darktide uses EAC which is ā€œless intrusiveā€. Helldivers devs are putting in nProtect Gameguard, which is deeper rootkit.

Kind of put me off it, but I’m still interested. But yup will wait way after release. I’ve noticed alot of buggy launches with games recently from day 1.

You, pal, ain’t kidding.
I’ve followed the game closely and loved the first one.

No preorders, but I’m buying whatever they’re selling on launch!

The remaining 10% get a godroll. Of which 5% maybe even use it. And those are the ones that notice, then, at the end… that the gear is still capped at 80% stats…

You reach for the clown wig and the makeup. The grind continues.

I’ve been thinking… (I know, a horrible habit of mine) why FS will not allow us to combine weapons?

Let’s say you’ve got:
Bolter (gold) with 80% damage, stability and stopping power stats.
Bolter (gold) with 80% reloading speed stat
Bolter (gold) with 80% mobility stat

You combine it and receive 400 base rating gold weapon with perks and blessings of your choice.
(So 400 + 50 + 120 so 570 rating overall).

You still have to hunt for weapons with 80% in all aspects and upgrade it to gold, but at least there would be a target in all of this.
Also finding 5 weapons with 1 stat of 80% is simpler and happens all of the time (I could be wrong on this one).

Any solution would be better than waiting for ā€œperfect rollā€ and seeing it bricked.

You could, I would prefer using diamantine to increase things. But you could do a system like you said.

Want blessing T4 pinning fire on your bolter that’s already locked? Maybe you can bypass the lock by specifically ā€œcombiningā€ the weapons and replacing the blessings, perks, and modifiers with one another. Still seems excessively Grindy but it could work. I would really want brunts to give higher base ratings for higher level account profiles.

I also think we have to ask when the ā€œredsā€ or things beyond 80% are coming in.

I keep coming up with alternatives because, maybe there is very autistic ā€œCrafting Group Senior Managerā€, who went:
- You don’t like my temporary place holder? Fine! I will not release upgrade till someone on forum/reddit/discord guesses what my plan for final crafting system was. Now suffer!
Also he/she’s blackmailing someone higher with something, so fellow is unfireable.

If I had to guess, it was also because they had some long term plans to have some mechanic or system to get reds they weren’t planning on prioritizing for awhile. They thought current crafting would be good enough (and were wrong). And now it’s implementing systems now that were maybe planned years after release. Some sort of raid, boss rush, or some other mechanic. (Complete shot in the dark on my part)

Or it’s that they were trying to monetize it and to buy reds or something and make reds very hard to grind or something.

If you look at how they are monetizing the weaponskins, which are available via mod, it’s definetly the latter

I just want Winds of Magic crafting, but significantly fleshed out.

  • Give me exactly one weapon of each type.
    • This gun is mine. It belongs to me.
    • Keeping an armoury of mediocre crap in a bag and actually have to waste time comparing and selling it off is boring as #$@#$.
  • Let me grind for upgrades to my weapons. Make the top-tier stuff really hard to get. Grind is ok if grind is fun (the missions in DT are great fun, I don’t mind grinding them)
    • Full book runs
    • high difficulty settings
    • speed runs
    • insert arbitrary hard-as-nails activity here
  • Let me slot in-and-out the upgrades that I already have
    • modifying a weapon with known blessings and augments must be no more difficult than slotting in and out acquired skill points.
  • Let me upgrade the base stats of my weapons with mats, some of which can be hard to find.

I would love a system like this. I don’t mind the grind. I don’t mind some of the stuff being ludicrously hard to get, but it should require skill and not luck of the draw. There should of course be plenty of stuff for lower-tier players like myself to get as well, but there you go.

I can dream. I’ve said this before. But I can dream.

Interesting to see the difference in methodology too.

Lets hope cosmetic store does not become too much distraction from rolling out regular game content/features.

Sometimes a skin can make more money than a game itself. It’s the new future of games!

That’s ALL MTX, basically.

GTA:Online has made more money off microtransactions than ANY of the official releases of GTA5.

Rockstar is one of the reasons GaaS is so heavily sought after by publishers: it makes a ton of money in the right markets for very little maintenance or overhead compared to making a full release title every few years.

It’s also unfortunately why a large number of publishers are really trying to push the limits and determine just how ā€œmacroā€ they can get.

Fatshark is doing that right now with increasing their cosmetic costs quietly. Slowly increasing the heat for the frogs in the pot (us).

Made a new thread on it. Might as well turn myself in for corpse starch conversion.

RIP fantastic base.
Thanks Fatshark.

WHY is even damage against poxwalkers a thing???
Who would EVER want that on a weapon?

No one. That’s the point. It makes rolling weapons harder.

You’ve just been …retained

You just earned the privilege of grinding more gacha tokens for another pull of the oddly fleshy lever.
