On the contrary they’ve expressed that Darktide is designed to be along for a long time. Think it was the same blog/article. It’s kind of sad how they really don’t understand their own fanbase (outside of the ones spending big money on cosmetics).
I’m pretty sure they also expressed how Darktide would have a modular system that would allow them to generate random maps (Chaos Wastes), but…
Yeah, effectively being able to explore an area not dissimilar to a space hulk without playing Deathwing (Deathwing was… disappointing. The devs tried, but they just didn’t hit the mark imo) was a big draw… yet as you posted…
and, yeah, 500 people for a website that is not much checked by game copy owners plus 22,5k views (which is bigger than LOTS of OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENTS threads) is… very impressive
the question is - how much time left until FS actually… do something with it?
and, fun fact: I recently got my 2nd full points weapon on my account (not even character)! urah!
needed to spend ~700 hours on game, experience lots of money and plasteel shortages, failed random crafts, and thats just for kantrael lasgun (my 2nd favorite of all las weapons)
the agripinaa rifle was almost at start and was my main weapon for ~100 hours because i couldn’t get a revolver that had good perks and modificators before it became overused by everyone
I think Fatshark really needs to change their structure when it comes to interacting with their community. Even the Valheim Devs took a different approach with their latest biome and interacting far more.
The Starship Troopers devs are communicating despite the near unanimous negative reception to the upcoming character class overhaul that will wipe class progress, the horrendous performance and quality of the new map and new bug designs, and almost as soon as they returned from their holiday break. They even had a 2x xp holiday event, which is more than what Fatshark did when they went on break.
fs did have a unique scenario scripted out with new vo, which is pretty neat tbh, so credit where it’s due and all. I also think people wouldn’t be as concerned about communication if there weren’t as many issues to address to begin with. The root of the communication problem is their (in)ability to openly recognize issues that the community addresses, rather than the frequency of it.
I actually remember a time in early v2, where we had DEVS occasionally talking in these very forums.
Funny how far even the discord seems to have fallen and the trend we are seeing despite promising to improve the communication.
