The Crafting Memorial; lest we forget

Even if the locks are removed you still need to pass repeatedly through the rng chain in order to build your blessing library. I’m hopeful that we’ll see a bigger reimagining of how gear works. That said, there’s no reason not to remove the locks. Should be easy peasy right? A simple point release? Go on then.

That’s actually pretty good if you use it on a vet deadshot + rending stack build. I agree with the sentiment though.

Following up to my follow up. It’s been just over 3 weeks since I came back to Darktide after abandoning it back in January.

After playing some 40-50+ hours for the first week my play time dropped down to about 20 hours in week two. And this week I’ve played less than 10. This sharp decline in my play time is almost entirely because of the items, crafting, and the ridiculous gacha RNG systems employed in them.

I want to be playing auric missions because standard damnation is becoming stale and boring. But I can’t upgrade my characters hardly at all by playing those more fun missions due to the higher failure chance and longer mission times hamstringing progress. Thus I have largely resorted to WarGames logic and all but ceased playing entirely. This week I’ve pretty much only been playing when I receive an invite from a friend. A habit that took almost 5 years to set in with Vermintide 2.

Here’s an idea to fix the craft system by building upon the foundation that’s already in place.

  1. Introduce Exalted weapons (red items)
  2. Exalted items can be purchased or awarded from Aurics, or created by upgrading with Hadron.
  3. Exalted items do not have lock limitations.

There, problem solved.

Yes, i had suggested the same as well, in a different post. Use diamantine for the upgrade so you have your diamantine dump. Diamantine is very scarce below T5 so you should be able to not have a new player get a red item instantly to “carry” him.
Honestly now with patch 13 there are so many interesting builds to try but we are bottolnecked by this gatcha crafting.

You could take it a step further and make it so exalted items can not be purchased from Grunt or Melk until they reach 30, just like how you cannot play Auric until 30. You can make the cost to upgrade to Exalted with Hadron 10x the price from Transcendent. The exalted items in the store can cost 10x the price of profane items. Which are 12k? So an exalted item in the store can cost 120k.

This would guarantee new players/characters can’t just get exalted items and have to work for them.
Heck, it gives all of us something to work for, there are a lot of careers and weapons to choose from. Both in melee and range.

Emperor, I’d settle for 100x times the price if it meant we can get exalted items with the mentioned improvements,

Yeah… they just need to do something they already did in Vt2 … But I guess it’s incomensurably difficult for whatever reason …

Don’t worry. I heard that they learned their lessons from VT2. I bet it will be fixed when they release crafting in December! (or maybe February if it’s slightly delayed)

My 1 year anniversary for dropping the game is coming up in Jan. I’m pretty excited! :tada: :champagne: :boar:

Well that something I also hear and at the time trusted 1y ago
Update 13 got me back after more than half a year not playing but idk for how long if the crafting don’t change …

I mean you can tickle a crushers head with that gun and then run away a bit farther? xD

Trusted a year ago? The release is surely nov/dec this year. I’m sure crafting will be just fine when they release it in the live version of the game.

The crazy thing is they fixed crafting in V2 but sadly they locked it into the Weaves game mode…
That still makes me cringe with pain whenever I think about it.

I hope they handle Darktide with more tact and grace.
I definitely think the solution is red items. Perfect ratings with no lock limitations.
I don’t think anyone would mind if they cost 1mil and are only awarded in auric missions (or the auric main event), it’s something that would be worth working for.

Only potential issue is if Auric only is where you get loot the players who don’t have the skill or means to competently and reliably do auric will suddenly go to it so that they have a chance at getting reds.

It’s why in VT2 I think having cataclysm give the same rewards as legend was a good move.

Yes, I remember there being an argument that legend was too easy and people wanted it harder, and more relaxed players hated the idea. Cataclysm was a good solution and it was suggested there be no cataclysm chests so casual players wouldn’t play for the loot and then argue it’s too hard.

In short, I don’t disagree with you. I only think if Red items can be looted, because of their value they should only be obtainable on damnation and only guaranteed on Auric.

That said, if unskilled players started playing Auric it would mean you’d have to build a squad in the Morningstar or with friends before playing Auric.

No. Ditch this bit. Leave the higher difficulties free of the the extra loot grind. They should be for people seeking a new challenge, not for deadweight seeking to be carried in search of good loot.

Fair enough. It is frustrating to have low skill people playing on difficulties they really shouldn’t be, so I’ll concede on this issue.

The rewards for the highest difficulty need to be extra bragging rights. Cometics, but if cosmetics are too much, then it has to be border frames and the like.

Everything up to the hardest difficulty being for gearing and the finaly difficulty then being the “raid boss modo”.

No they don’t, all that’ll do is infest highest difficulty with lazy players that want reward with no effort.
