The Crafting Memorial; lest we forget

i get it, i like to quickplay too, especially when just needing something to complete my melks (for whatever reason, now that he has become irrelevant for me :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: )

actually, i’m not so much interested in how, i just want to be able to play what i want, when i want, and not what’s on the menu at the moment.

Funnily enough, for me, quickplay gets monotonous because there’s only ~3 maps up at a given time, give or take. The map pool is so small that getting the same map multiple times on a given day is expected, and the map shift is way too infrequent.

The servers also have a tendency to reroll into the same maps over and over.

I get that… but every new QP is a new chance for failure with random idiots, so… That keeps it fresh.

I know personally I still have complaints about crafting, but people are ok with dealing with the dredges of RNG instead of that absolute scat storm that we had before.

I’m not. I want them to get rid of all of the RNG and allow us to just use what we want. I don’t know who at Fatshark thinks that RNG has to be included in the crafting, but there’s enough RNG in the layouts of the missions that kept me coming back into Vermintide 2’s Chaos Wastes. Why can’t we get that in Darktide?

After coming back I’m also not thrilled that you essentially still need to get lucky with a base weapon but i will say it’s a fairly large improvement now that i can actually alter things and try out builds instead of just yelling ā€œLETS GO GAMBLING!!!1!ā€ and hoping for the best.

I will say that the levelling speed seems…ok ish so far? At least for the Combat Axe and Shotguns i maxed them out fairly fast since i had a fair few blessing i had unlocked for both.

As for updates to old blessings it was a cool surprise to say the least, especially seeing some stuff like run and gun getting extra bits for it tacked on.

At this point I’d rather be able to pick my exact stats by spending melk bucks or whatever to adjust my wargear. But it’s still knocked down the amount of praying to RNG-ssiah to get kit that I want… especially with the HEAVY finger on the 4x80/60 splits.

Always wondered why 80 is the magic number

4x80 and 1x60

Why isn’t it a nice round numbers like 4x100 + etc so a full stat can be 500 weapon

Almost like the last segment of the bars are room for improvement or something on the cards to truly be full in all stats in future.

Yup easy to get a dump stat from brunt armory than more even distributed from. By far, you can easily get dump of your choosing in 4-5 tries. Even distributed one probably 30+ tries which resembles the old RNG system.

The Melk shop seems to regularly have the even distributed ones I’ve noticed.

Maybe that was the justification of existence of 2 different weapon shops…

Funny thing is I do play the game less as result of not chasing the dragon. There was a time I was simply grinding for the sake of it. Play it less not focusing on grind and enjoy experimenting with builds more I guess, which is positive respect.

After update my 1.4 million plasteel has become redundant

With every hotfix - So many little changes here and there to read. So now the forum for me is to scan for bigger impact changes to keep up with.

Not sure why the forum threads will quickly turn into conflict so easily. But they’re mostly weapon/enemy balancing and those are just too open to individual perception to be of any real consensus, so I don’t give any comments on them, it is a rabbit hole.

To maintain engagement is to introduce frequent content. Not weapons, skill changes etc but maps and regularly. So every month or two always something new in maps to come back to again.

I am assuming it’s for some later release date of end game weapons with higher stats. Maybe to compete with orders and the new difficulty game mode. And/or with the curio rework.

If you got the cash, just bulk buying from the armory and upgrading to green and sacrificing is a pretty fast way to upgrade. Or just buying what’s available from Melk’s and the rotating shop to save on plasteel. I got max on all weapons pretty fast.

I actually had a moment when I went to work on my Ogryn and modify the curios. I got a plus up one and went ā€œaw man, this curio would be great but the bonuses suckā€ and then I realized I can just freely modify them and could actually roll what I wanted.

It’s so dam nice to actually be able to have agency over your gear and not deal with bricked items and been far more easy to justify getting back into it.

Sure there is a bit of a time sink but I’m not feeling like I’m just feeding credits and time into the wood chipper pointlessly.

Been experimenting with curios too. Stacking all +3 stamina, ability regen, stamina regen and give up toughness, health across all classes. What a difference. I think I’ll keep it like this for maximum movement.

I would of had to grind more so than a weapon before to gear up like this.

Just using thunder zealot until this nurgle event over to get rid of the pesky things then go back to rotating builds and classes.

With flexible crafting thought I try voidblast AOE build for fun factor. Damn I suck at it. Lost a load of dockets/materials to optimise. But doesn’t matter only took 2 mins to put together and give it a few runs. Then decided not for me.

Back to Zealot and not have to think about ammo chasing. Used to like Vet until survivalist change and constant ammo hoarding from team mates.

Stalker 2 coming out in a day and I reminded myself since Cyberpunk 2077 to never buy day 1. But tempted to and it will give me decent distraction for couple of weeks or so. I really like how some developers give a nice table to be specific on resolutions, graphic quality and frame rate in system requirements. Something steam should do in itself.

I saw a newcomer Darktide player using alt+f4 rejoin mod. Everytime he got knocked down he would re-join so fast in like 10-20 secs. Which is a shame because spectating others play is part of learning experience, now he just denied himself that.

(Curios whatever you want, on Psyker I do two toughness and one stamina curio, I am not daring enough to try 3 stamina curios like you).

Knife is mainly for repositioning. Shield for range enemies. Smite to give you some distance when surrounded.

Void strike gone back and forth on warp nexus or surge. You get a lot of crit damage from the right side of the tree. It is a slower staff, but pretty good. You can’t test well in the shooting range since you can’t get disrupt destiny stacks in there.

A new fav has honestly been force sword and flame staff with EP key stone for psyker.

This build from Vet I like and isn’t too ammo hungry due to all the crits and lasguns not consuming ammo on crits

No key stones.

Slightly different version if I am playing against monstrous specials.

Curios, whatever you want. I do 2 toughness and one health.

Crit heavy shock trooper really helps with ammo, and you can one shot crushers to the head of a fully charged melee strike.
