The Crafting Memorial; lest we forget

Can’t believe i would ever see the day, but it is finally here.

I was finally able to unscrew the Ripper, that i put a wrong blessing on by misclicking…that was 31st december, 2022 (the screenshot i took back then has the date).

Some minor gripes here and there, but the itemisation update is exactly what this game needed…way, WAY overdue as it was.

This game is finally starting to look like it’s ready for launch.
Oh wait…

Still really think* the empowerment cost could have been inverted (diamantine>plasteel), or have curio swaps be pure diamantine.

OR…

Have a material/currency exchange. Trade ordos for plasteel/diamantine, plasteel for diamantine/ordos, dimantine for ordos/plasteel… Hell, add premium currency to this exchange at an arbitrarily inflated rate.

*typo correction

Best thing is - Vermintide 2 has currency exchange… Same studio lmao.

Yeah, again… why is it that so many lessons from VT2 were not taken into account when developing Darktide? It’s absurd that they had developed systems that were appreciated by players only to start from scratch with systems they knew full-well would rub people the wrong way and waste people’s time and effort.

Well, its all just theory but from my experience working in corpo structure - there is probably 1-3 idiot executives who think they know better and corpos like that have “toxic positivity” attitude where nobody dares to criticize higherups ideas (don’t want to be “that negative guy” or worse) and you get results like that. It was simillar with CDPR and Cyberpunk where 2 executives + CEO thought they know better than all team leaders of every team combined and in the end we got what we got on release (if you heard details about Concord failure, it was simillar, executives were pushing hard their brilliant ideas and nobody inside dared to criticize). But that’s just my theory and wild guess. Could be just greed or incompetence too.

Personally, I choose to apply Hanlon’s razor to basically all human-involved ventures…

“Do not assign to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity.”

Well, I worked in both few corporations and gaming studio and from my personal exprience ego is way bigger and common culprit than stupidity. Though obviously that’s just my bias

Kinda wrong. Devs came from multiple established companies, devs themselves thought they, and the game, were too big to fail. Execs want nothing else but money, they dont push agendas. Artists on the other hand… All about sending a message. Well message recieved, response given.

Kind of, but the insider said that there few executives who were pushing narrative that it will be next Star Wars for Sony, PS4 Pro seller, next Jesus Christ. And most devs perfectly knew that it won’t be the case, but everyone put “toxic positivity” attitude and nobody dared to wash that dreams with harsh facts becasue noone wanted to lose job saying their boss “you are delusional, this is gonna flop”. At least that’s what I have heard on YT.

Mhm, it’s always a culmination of errors. Not just a single one/part.
Too many Firewalk employees still holding on to the Concord Dream though.

At over 15,000 concurrent sessions for the first weekend after this update, I think it’s pretty obvious the popular opinion. Last time numbers were above that was December 2023.

Having played more with the system and after a few days having most masteries at or near 20 I think it’s good. Not too hard to just find something close to the dump stat you want.

Now I am actually trying all sorts of random builds.

I would just want them to make contracts not tied to one character.

i said that in the dark ages of locks: less restrictions means more ways to try things, instead of clinging to certain weapons because they were so hard to get.

I’ve been busy playing. I think this update hit the mark, there are some bugs that could really use fixing like when the masteries or talent tree bugs out and doesn’t show the changes you made. Or lets you keep endlessly adding things to one already full. Beyond that I haven’t had any issues with the actual systems themselves.

Now it would be nice to get rid of the rng item acquisition, but that’s more a pipe dream at this point.

FS lowering the barrier to entry for new builds has brought numbers and maybe sales up. Ideally also gamepass subscription players to also make direct purchase $$$ to continue their journey.

I’ve always stayed away from Brunt for over a year, until I realised mission drops were giving perfect 4x80% weapons with 60% dump stat weapons so easily.

Went to Brunt, chose a random weapon attempted a 5-6 tries buy and got weapon with 4x80% and 60% mobility dump stat, 2nd time got it in 2 buys. No more 50-60 quantity mass buy. Almost as if it was like a direct purchase of stats you want now. 100K dockets instead of 2-3 million.

Obvously those that prefer complete balance across all stats will face the greater RNG. i.e. 5x ~76% stats, but even that is more favourable outcome post patch now.

You now spending less time trying to get what you want, which translates to more time in mission and build experimenting and not wasting hours button click slot machine.

The Brunt and crafting process total is minutes now compared to 1-2 hours pre patch given plentiful resources to reach it.

Yea it really is improvement in terms of lower time investment.

I’d say it’s been mitigated, but still ultimately pointless to have. There’s no purpose for it to be like how it is now. We should be able to control the stat layout. I’d like to try some 75% full spreads, which don’t seem to be possible to roll.

75% exactly might be an ask, even in the old system, but a few points here and there off was definitely previously a possibility, one that I have not seen often with new drops. They seem to bias to max out 80x4 distributions (not always, but again, the system seems biased toward these arrangements).

I just looked through my whole inventory on one character and found 38/109 weapons were +/- 3 points off of 80x4/60.

71/109 had spreads that were further spread out.

Did some more experimenting buying a chainsword cadia mk4 weapon. Setting myself limit of 100 mass buy.

If not willing to settle for 4x80% & 60% from brunt and looking for 5x 75% even distribution…then the mass buy RNG feels like pre-patch.

I picked out the ones out of 100 buys which are “close” to 5x75%. Only 3 out of 100.

So you either settle for around 5 buy and get perfect weapon with 60% dump stat or face the old RNG of over 50+ buy like old RNG and just get “close” to 5x 75% but never exact.

Can weapons be upgraded to maximum stats?
