I found this gem, had to share before it’s no longer valid:
You’ve had your say Hadron, but I’ll have mine. You’re a rascal! You’re a rascal who has no respect for acolytes!
So you finally won lol. Only took a year haha.
I just wish that they’d remove the RNG entirely. 380 stat cap is fine in my book if we’re given full control over distribution of our stat budget.
The problem has ALWAYS been RNG. It has ZERO PLACE in gear progression.
I’ve gotta say that they could learn a thing or two from the new Space Marine game. There’s no RNG in their gear progression. Just pick your desired weapon, pick your perks, pick your talents, and play. Your experience with that weapon is the same as everyone else’s because there is no RNG that lets them do things like hit key breakpoints that you can’t hit simply because you were unluckier at the lottery.
Team effort. I was simply the collator.
If only they had listened to us all sooner
I am playing Space Marine 2 co-op now and putting aside any discussion of “SM2 vs Darktide” - I love the Mastery System in SM2. It’s long enough to have a progression to earn on every class but there is no RNG involved and game even give you Armory Data that allow you to skip leveling each weapon variant for Mastery Points.
Overall it’s really nice to just play the game while knowing you are progressing with your weapons without the idiotic RNG part.
I am glad devs from SM2 didn’t take a lesson of RNG from Fatshark.
I hope they will remove last bits of RNG totally later after Itemization Rework drops.
Aye, the RNG fetish afflicting someone at Fatshark hasn’t added anything of value to this product, it’s just pissed people off. Fatshark has now spent nearly two years slow rolling it back piece by piece, kicking and screaming and only doing so in the face of sustained and repeated negative feedback/reviews.
The upcoming update should at least help some of it, but the fundamental nature of RNG item acquisition still being present is still going to result in players being stuck with slot-machine-esque frustration, and nobody at Fatshark is willing to talk about what value any of this item RNG they believe actually brings to the game, not once have any Community Managers or Developers spoken to this.
@FatsharkStrawHat I challenge thee.
Give us the value RNG brings to this game. Grace us with the opinions of the c-suite executive who’s mandated this.
there he is:
linking to a similar post by me in another thread. after nearly 2 years, i still haven’t found whatever value this rng is supposed to add. all it has done is make people find a way around it.
just watch one of the whaling classes that were posted on YouTube, it almost fits the bill perfectly for the freemium retention modus operandi, (never grant satisfaction for free, let people only scrape on the surface and then, sell the premium relief, basic mobilegame stuff
assuming they either thought that retention works without the relief or actually planned to offer relieve initially but couldn’t due to the already bad PR in beta
It might not even be that malicious or incompetent.
It might be something as simple as the guy in charge of that decision really enjoys mindlessly running the same fn dungeon/raid/whatever over and over in [insert mmo/destiny-type game here] for that 2% improvement in gear.
I’ve never undetstood this line of reasonning. Fatshark is getting no cash what’s so ever from us bricking 57th weapon in a row. There is no paid way to speed gearing up, so all this frustration is basically venting into nothing.
Shh! You’ll give them a bad idea, sibling!
It’s good, that they are taking only skins from China, not their monetary practices.
Their ‘logic’ is probably ‘if they’re forced to chase some random grind, they’re more likely to buy cosmetics’
It makes you wonder why those that work push you to chase leveling up your character with ranks, and not with the equipment.
