The Crafting Memorial; lest we forget

Why? The other guy didn’t. Unless you mean show you each result that flagged the search engine for the word “Crafting” But, I don’t see the point in that as this doesn’t add anything to the notion on “silent majority/minority.” If anything, it can only harm your case in finding those who talk about it amicably and favorably.

You’re the one trying to convince us, remember?

Trying to convince you that your data is flawed because you’re using outdated data. I can show you instances of outdated data through the use of this forum. Each and every one. But I won’t, I only need to show one that is outdated to prove that my claim is true. Though, I’d probably list twenty so that you have enough to challenge me further to warrant further investigation that your data is in fact, sound. The burden then would be on you to refute that by showing where people have checked in since their reviews to stand by their point in the assertion that crafting is bad.

I’ve already told you that I’m amicable to you sampling all of the data from the Crafting Update forward. Now, please go support your claim or don’t bother continuing this spiel.

Do you know the date offhand?

August 7th, 2023. Chop, chop.

Or if you want a slightly larger pool: February 22rd, 2023.

Even with those, you still have to account for people who either never made or updated their reviews.

Sure, though, bare in mind that there’s some potential hidden variables that will compromise this data. This is why my model resides on the recent review period of 30 days. Especially since the last update was close to 30 days ago (roughly)

Is this the data you’re after? Because the reviews are mostly positive… CORRECTION: VERY POSITIVE

The next available day to parse data was Aug 10th

Less questioning, more reading.

Is that a yes? I need to know because I’m not going to go do this with incorrect instructions, do the task just to be told I did it wrong.

You have two areas to search.

• From August 7th, 2023 onward (Which focuses on the breaking of certain locks)

• From February 23rd, 2023 onward (Which focuses more on the overall Crafting System)

I’d advise the latter for the most accurate data.

Your instructions are simple, provide evidence and read through all of those reviews. Take your time, please.

Even then, this whole spiel is kinda pointless… There’s a number of reviewers who don’t care about Crafting and would still be happy regardless of an overhaul.

Why not simply improve upon something? Why would one COMPLAIN about improvements? We’ll see if there’s ACTUALLY a “silent majority” when and if a good Crafting overhaul drops.

Evidence of what? People talking about crafting systems? This whole discussion is over the notion of the existence of a silent minority/majority. I’m currently loading reviews from November because for some reason (probably blackfriday cyber weekend) there’s a HUGE amount of reviews at that time.)

Then WHY did you suggest the reviews if sifting through them is against your point in the first place? I’m only telling you where to find any data with the narrow examples that you provided earlier, which included ONLY the reviews.

It isn’t. It augments my point.
I took the largest period of reviews 11/26-11/30 of which, there were 3k reviews. Crafting was only mentioned 85 times. As we discovered earlier, some of those reviews spoke favorably of crafting.

My suggestion and purpose since has been to provide a suggestion that will help make YOUR claims more relevant and visible by providing a living, updated database that encourages petitioners to be active in the process to really drive home the point to FS the disposition of players to their crafting system. My suggestion was to create a new thread as a petition, and have it be re-updated every month. Have people re-sign. Get the follow-up. Using data that’s as old as the game doesn’t carry over well. Especially since the information is obsolete being buried under different patches. Perhaps, the crafting system would not bother people if they had the talent system we have now. Or the current iteration may not bother them. This thread suggests that all those there in this “memorial” that their opinions are still true today and valid.

They simply aren’t. If you don’t want suggestions on how to improve, that’s fine. As I said earlier, I want to help you communicate your message, even if I don’t agree with it. But for some reason, I’m being sent on wild goose chases still, being told I’m wrong when I’m trying to help you make your case stronger.

Really?

Edit, I recorded my work via screen capture. From beginning to end, including my replies to you. I’ll post it if you want, but it’ll only show what I’ve already told you. I mean, just in the reviews since August ALONE the game is rated VERY POSITIVE. If the crafting system was as bad as was suggested earlier in this forum, I doubt that in the time frame you provided that it would reflect such a review score. EVEN for February 23rd. The score is still VERY POSITIVE. And those that felt compelled to write about crafting is extremely small, and the negative stimuli will usually win out when it comes to writing about how BAD something is.

People have put forward information that the crafting system was infact a part in why some people quit the game. It might not have been the whole problem for some, but a part of why they are no longer playing now.

Now you are saying that they should no longer count since they are either dated, not enough people have left a detailed reasoning on why they no longer play, even though not everyone leaves a review in the first place and simply just quit.

At this point, you can look on how many people are still playing, consider whether this is an acceptable amount of players and if you find that it is not, you might want to look through common issues and reviews to find whatever painpoints people have to try and improve upon them.

And by going by this, Fatshark seems to have done that and will introduce itemisation changes in the next upcoming patch.

Following this, we are working on an overhaul of our current itemisation process. With the new system we want to remove a lot of the unpredictable grind that came from an RNG heavy system whilst giving players more agency and a steady manner to progress toward specific loadouts, blessings, and stats refinement.

That said, I cannot stress enough that people need to temper their expectations about this update.

I think you misunderstand my purpose. But that’s okay, I 100% whole heartedly agree with your closing statement

ah yes, the guy unanimously antagonizing himself wants to help the most visited thread be more relevant that’s rich

Seriously I don’t get this mindset.

Is he unable to comprehend the criticism of the game? Or is he just unwilling to let things lie?

Because we’ve gradually transitioned from ‘crafting is currently in a bad place as a mechanic’ to him arguing that crafting can’t be bad because the Steam reviews for a given point in time are largely positive.

Y’know, Steam reviews written for a game that’s failed to consistently hit even 15% of its peak even on major updates because the game was so bad at launch everyone’s avoiding it.

Like, dude. Just leave the thread if people being annoyed at the crafting system bothers you so much.
