FAQ (Frequently asserted quibbles by the vocal minority) New Player Experience Now imagine the first-time experience for someone brand new jumping in right now. The road is so far compared to the time investment of a year to even catch up to their level of inventory of players who joined from the start. Seasoned players already paid for game. FS want “new” players more to buy the game and recommend to others. At least make crafting flexible for sake of where the money is. Skill vs Time vs Luck Crafting weapons has nothing to do with skill. It is completely time based. It is not locked progression behind difficulty. You could easily run T3 missions, and someone runs T5 and collect the same type of resources without gating, just more resources at higher difficulty. So, no skill factor, just time. Being “lucky” is really defined as success on one occasion. Roll a D20 and hope for 20, you got it! But rolled 50 times. That’s not luck. You simply played more, so of course eventually you get what you want. So can’t use “lucky” at all when it comes to this game. Time is not reasonable. It takes somewhere between 20-40 T5 missions to accumulate enough resources from experience to gain a “decent” outcome of playing the crafting game. You really didn’t get any satisfaction because it was not challenging, you simply rolled more. Progression is meant to go forward, but it puts you two steps backwards based on a dice roll outside of your own control. Losing a mission can be fun because it is challenge to your skill and to surpass. Nobody says it is really fun mechanic to lose something out of your own control. Reasonable Time If they made it so 1 mission gets you enough resources to get one ideal weapon, too easy. 100 missions too much. It sits around 30. Some may say 20 or 40. We are talking weeks of in game time for one ideal weapon between 20 to 40 T5 missions. The tuning is bit wrong there in time frame. Ideal weapon “What is the big deal. That extra 5% damage won’t change anything.” Slam that Crusher twice and it’s got 5% health left. A bit more is enough to turn 3 attacks instead into 2 given good hit chance stat. Ideal doesn’t mean 380. Depending on weapons 360 won’t make a difference, some weapons 370 does make difference. You see at least blessings are fixed elements of T1 to T4. Now instead of rolling a D20 dice you are rolling a D380 dice and hope to get 370-380. Blessings and Perks are the easy part. The initial insanity is that getting that good stat and face the strong prospect to get Perks and T4 will most likely fail and turn that weapon into a brick. Breakpoints matter. Defined as number of hits given good hit chance for crit to down a certain enemy on average. T5 missions are easy though. True. You can complete T5 missions with grey weapons. You are playing the same old maps to the point you have memorised the spawn points. What makes a game replayable? “Diversity” - You will be playing the same maps. But this allows you to change your playstyle of “How” you play those maps to alleviate repetition and fun of different results. You play with different builds and you’re not hunting for meta you’re looking for change and something new to bring out different results. It then opens you up to realising that certain skill nodes compliment weapons with certain blessings to enhance to YOUR playstyle. You can’t change the maps, but there builds allow “creative” thinking to make the game more replayable. You can either play Anno games and know exact meta blueprints for optimised production output or you can play Planet Coaster or Planet Zoo and allow creative thinking to keep you coming back for more. We’re not looking to make the game easier - Just allow us to change the way we play in “reasonable” time (See above) to make it more engaging in the build mechanic part of the game and see the effects in missions. Crafting UI Ever used Microsoft Outlook application. Now imagine if something like that for inventory. You should be able to filter/hide by certain weapon stats, weapon type, blessings, perks anything. Even an archive to hide away clutter. “Not a big deal” - OK fine let’s say you like to doom scroll like instagram. Let’s say you have million resources and you’re thinking now I can get the ideal weapon I want quickly. Wrong. There is 2nd part of crafting which is pure admin task. Enjoy running 180 between Armory and Crafting station to buy/sell constantly. Do you enjoy running up and down the stairs at home. No bulk action commands. One by one clicking UI buttons sequential commands like mobile UI. It is 1-2 hours given enough resources as 2nd step to crafting. Time you would rather spend playing missions. Time you would rather spend putting together build. Not staring at UI buttons. Mass buy until 370-380 weapon obtained. Craft and most likely fail. Mass buy until few 370-380 to save you running back and forth. Re-roll We are turned into human macro scripts. Mods “We got mods” to fix crafting. Some mods can do filter, bulk actions, automate. Imagine a game mechanic so good we are looking for a mod to minimise the interaction with it. Means it isn’t a good mechanic. Best “UI” improvement would be to make everything into same UI without having to move your character. Is walking/running around part of immersion in the game. Mods can break per game update and then having to play trial and error to test which mod is problem. Then you lose use of that mod until modder updates it. Xbox users - No mods. Means they’re cut out from QOL. So makes sense to natively include common mods in the game. All they have to do is take the mods from nexusmods, ask permission, credit and reward modder, integrate. Work is already done. So why didn’t they remove RNG entirely? Creates engagement. Same way I want my garden clean I must do something I don’t like which is cutting the grass to be happy with the result. Time involved, no skill, no challenge. What have they said? They historically requested OP of this thread about stats to create reinforcement to present internally about RNG change. They are going to “minimise” RNG but unfortunately not remove completely. A poll of over 600 responses does indicate dislike of crafting in majority of forum users. Arguments arise that forum users do not represent opinion global player base. True but they’re not going to get every single player opinion so really that’s all they got to work with. Steam, Reddit plenty of similar opinions. Nobody says they want more RNG in crafting, so obviously it isn’t a good thing. https://forums.fatsharkgames.com/t/the-crafting-memorial-lest-we-forget/79281 - Pastebin.com Threads that have had the [image] brosgw: Unfortunately the community managers confirmed the super store rotating armor will have both passives and stats (just like the other armor pieces). And while the passives on their own won’t be unique, the combination of passives and stats will be unique to super store armors. But yeah everything is going to boil down to whether it’s a “reasonable” grind. How many POIs and POI types per mission? How long to complete a mission? How much SC per POI/POI type? The fact they’re not giving us those objective numbers is worrying when they should know them. The grind has to be bad enough some will grind for em. And that’s a new warbond once a month so like… 1000 per month on average maybe? Depending on if steeled veterans is an average priced warbond? I dunno. A lot to worry about. Exactly this. It is now “Pay to save time”, “Pay for advantage of time saving”. You can put monetary value for time. Yea definitely “Pay to affect gameplay” they can call it for what they want. Cosmetics do not affect gameplay at least. Saving time is win to me. With this, rotating skin store and previously mentioned nProtect GameGuard over EAC. Nope Whilst credit to the real developers in making the game, once again we got a higher level of management looking for a quick buck instead of understanding that building strong reputation builds players trust, following and more money in long-term than simply short-term without needing to sacrifice integrity. FOMO: [image] [image] [image] [image]

[image] brosgw: Unfortunately the community managers confirmed the super store rotating armor will have both passives and stats (just like the other armor pieces). And while the passives on their own won’t be unique, the combination of passives and stats will be unique to super store armors. Oke that almost single handedly killed my hype to play it on day one. Wait and see approach it is :face_exhaling:

Further clarifications on the above HD2 details: Store is cosmetic only. They made a thread specifically for that question and the warbonds. The armor available there will have stats and passives taken from already available gear. There will not be combinations possible only with store armor. (lots of confusing terms going arouond “perks”, “stats”, “passives”…). So far, no p2w. It will rotate, yes. 4 slots available, 48 hours rotations. The consensus so far is - good at the start, but if the gear gets to a large number, we end up with… FOMO. Prem currency earning rate has been revealed at 10-40/hour. With the average run at 20 minutes and 10 currency being equal to “not even looking for it…”. Assuming 20-25 per hour, that would suggest one can opt into the most costly warbond at launch (equating to 1000 prem) after 30-40ish hours, on average. Warbonds will have varying prices and different gear in them. The lead dev and cm pointed out that the rate is not fixed, will be closely monitored and potentially addressed based on feedback. That last part could go either way, tho. As it is now, before launch, it looks reasonable and hardly driving for prem currency purchase. The GameGuard anticheat is the worst one on the market, objectively. That said, it’s been standardized along EAC in terms of root kit and CPU usage years ago. The only legit issue still going around is that it tends to mess with AMD cards. Anyone with concerns there - wait for reviews for at least a week or two. There’s a ton of discussion on the discord, but I have to say - having devs, CMs and the CEO actively communicate within minutes and threads being opened the moment a topic starts to trend is a breath of fresh air and kinda gives me hope. All that being said - the game isn’t out yet. I’ve no faith apart from what’s directly said by devs and shown in gameplay footage.

Yep, this horrible unsafe rootkit is my main concern as well with HD II. The communication from the devs is reassuring, but I will wait on this one for now. I am really interested in the Galactic War and how it will progress moving forward. WH40k Eternal Crusade was sold on a concept like this - we were deceived by the devs of that raging trashfire just like we were by Fatshark. Maybe one can argue the deception by Fatshark was not to that level, but it was lies and false marketing nevertheless. So let’s see what happens with HD II. I will personally play the waiting game.

[image] Jasper_of_the_Dawn: and send FS the lua file, all they would have That was my response at the time, I basically wrote something along the lines of a lua file. This was the first crafting which TBH I don’t remember as well except it was bad, but it worked enough all they had to do was cut and paste a little and remove a line or two to have good crafting.

Hey I found it! [image] It's over General Discussion Except 80% of the communities complaints could be fixed in a day by typing in different numbers on the back end. We aren’t talking a whole new tile set or anything. Weeks is right out. Hell, most of this could be done in an hour. [image] It's over General Discussion Well, since you need to spelled out, “No crafting.” Except we do have it. Just turn it ON for more then one perk. TURN IT ON. Copy Paste. Delete single line item limit. Earn Aquilias. GOTO Sire Melk. ADD MISSION–XYZ–>Complete–>Grant 100 Aquilias. Restriction of weapons “Power sword” Vet 1 Psyker 0 Ogryn 0 Zealot 0 Change to “Power sword” Vet 1 Psyker 1 Ogryn 0 Zealot 1 Adding "Level 380 grey weapon of every type’ to the shop would be a bit more complex, but wouldn’t take mo…

Yeah, its not that FS cant, its that they either wont or are to lazy/incompetent to actually do it

Armor stats are different. 2. I don’t believe they are complete carbon copies of Warbond items, afaik. They’re unique to the Superstore.” Unfortunately they seem to be unique. For example if there’s an armor with medic passive that has heavy armor stats in vanilla game/warbond, super store will have armor with medic passive but light or medium stats. Looks like they’re intentionally avoiding armors in any case being the exact same with stats and passives. That said, if you can end game eventually get around 30-40 SC that’s not bad. And to keep things on track… I would STILL prefer a system like this over the crafting RNG in Darktide.

It would be nice if Curios could get a second main stat if we got a crafting overhaul and got red tier. One can only hope though, and until they make grimoires worth while the grimoire corruption resist will continue to be useless.

The entire crafting system needs to be made user friendly ASAP. I have been treating the game more like L4D2 lately because there is no incentive to play other than for the fun of it (and it is fun ^^). Hop in, play a few rounds, call it a day. After thinking a lot about it, these decision with crafting still make no sense to me. When a game has a fixed level with no prestige system, it all comes down to gear / loot in the end. The talent system in combination with fully customizable gear to aid your playstyle would be INSANE. Yet here we are… Every new weapon added to the game is basically just a smaller chance to get what you want in the emporers gift. At this point, the RNG is so bad, that I’ve fully stopped caring. Simply because the chance of obtaining what you want is almost none existent. It wouldn’t take much to fix this (or am I wrong?) Add red item tier → Breaks all the locks on the item Add base stat upgrading Add higher base stat limit = 400 Buyable LVL 1 Blessing Upgradeable Blessings This is a simple fix (in my eyes). A step in the right direction. Its also not just a “break the locks Fatshark”, but rather a “We can break the locks now ourselves”. With the base stat upgrading and available blessings, it would be more appealing to the average gamer. If you like your shovel so much at lvl 1 , why not keep it and make it stronger along the journey? This is just what I consider “Quality of Life” changes. You’re free to debate me on this xd. However, nobody who plays atleast one other title has enough time to engage with the current system. The time-sink is WAY out of hand and kills your satisfaction after achieving no progress for too long. I believe that, if you had an idea in your mind, as to what you want your weapon to be, you’d go into a match and think “Gotta do my best so I can get materials to make my gun strong!”. This is the most basic form of satisfaction in gaming = Number go bigger YAAAY : D This would also add the actual feeling of progression after hitting lvl 30, which would probably keep people engaged longer. If the above came to be, I could finally recommend my friends this game, knowing that they wouldn’t feel the same kind of frustration that so many others have felt. Here’s hoping that patch #15 will hold some positive changes…
