The worse part is there are actually HDR references in the Lua code, it was at least on someone’s radar then shelved . I was stoked when I stumbled on it then heartbroken when all my inquiries vanished, like tears in rain.
Try the RenoDX modlet or the oft forgotten Special K, barring that you can fallback to RTX HDR or Win 11’s autohdr.
Just an aside when it comes to user tweaking config files in games, often times it’s just placebo effect and sometimes it can actually be negative changes like the RTX “DT RT always on” nothing-burger fiasco that went viral and had ppl turning off important lighting; tat myth persisted for years with user still citing it and doubling down on placebos.
My grudge, that I would like added in the book, is that Vanguards eat Krak grenades, which often results in me wasting Kraks when trying to get them to stick to a Crusher, but a Vanguard is in its way.
Absolutely - I wouldn’t be able to say which settings are the most effective (well, maybe a couple), but I did quite a bit of testing and Vizra’s config makes a substantial and very noticeable difference. Without it I can idle at 170fps, dynamic action averages about 130, but stutter drops my FPS down to as low as 30. With the config changes I usually don’t drop below 60/70.
It’s still not great and requires lowering other settings as well, plus texture LOD is still an issue, but the gameplay experience is just night and day.
Yeah mine turned really bad after an update a while back and never got fixed. I have an nvidia RTX5090 with ray tracing turned off and the rest of my specs are good too…but the lod/texture popping is super bad. Can take a couple of seconds on the character selection screen to turn from a picasso blob to my actual character, every single time I start the game. Similar effects throughout the game too. It never used to be like that and I didn’t change any settings.
I feel like many of the stuff on the list has been addressed and it needs to be updated and give some due to the developers for actually fixing most of this.
Dont we have this already? you select any level on any difficulty you want. and even if you queue up for a quick mission, you can join some of these. I do not see how this is not added at all.
Is this not already a thing? are they not dolling out around 1000 aquilas a year with the events? or you want to horde them like you do plastiles and finding them around the level which makes them kind of pointless - they are giving these out on events which I think is very fitting.
I am confused, 100 aquila? dont we already get 1500 from the events?
is this not something that was forbid to them by games workshop? i recall this is what they said.
Are we not getting this? we are getting classes with multiple builds, whereas when they made the original promise it was a single build per class which would have sucked so much. you are highlighting this as a grave sin but they did something right.
how is this a grudge? you are complaining about playing the game?
there is more detail i can go into for the classes might do later, this is all i can do in a quick post.
Okay, technically Battle for Tertium fills this now, so I need to update it.
They give out a tiny amount that isn’t even sufficient to purchase a single shop skin. If every event had an Aquila award (which I’ve been agitating for) you’d have a point, but they’ve refused to make Aquilas consistently available, so this still stands since nothing has meaningfully changed.
We were going to be given a 100 Aquila pack available for purchase to allow people to buy exactly however many they needed for a given cosmetic rather than the BS ‘oops you bought slightly too little/too many better pay for another pack if you want that stuff’ mobile game nonsense. This still has not materialized.
There have been no statements to that effect by the devs, and they openly published interviews discussing customization before the game came out. If you have some proof I’m happy to change this.
It’s still an unannounced change in dev direction they haven’t properly explained the reasoning behind and part of their history of making such decisions.
I’m not knocking them for it too severely but it’s still part of their whole schtick of changing plans while letting previous announcements go unchanged.
People complain about it, it goes in the Book. I think it’s kinda dumb but I also thought the furor about being called Rejects was kinda dumb, but it’s a complaint that pops up consistently so it goes in here.
This is also one that affects both old and new players, as we’ve seen on this board just during the toaster release. It was novel to go back to the low difficulties with space cop…for about 2 missions. Then even I engaged in essentially speed running to get it over with. I apologized in chat to any new players for it, but FS is to blame. And now we’ve seen posts from some new players having their new game experience “ruined” and unsure if they want to keep playing.
I don’t think either side is entirely wrong and it’s a FS failure - 100% a grudge and no small part of why I haven’t bought a new class since.
Not quite, a lot of elements that make up difficulty are unavailable for the player to select such as mission modifiers and the havoc difficulties & modifiers. The campaign mission select technically allows me to play any mission on one of the 5 base difficulties but there’s a big difference in difficulty between Auric campaign and Auric Hi-STG or Maelstrom. And Darktide’s missions expire far too fast now for MMT to adequately provide me with choice in the matter. Also Havoc difficulties are completely separated from the concept of player agency, can’t choose shït.
Anyone who has an existing l30 character could get an 10% bonus xp per l30 character in their slots…so the more l30 characters you have, the faster you climb the xp ladder with a new char.
So if you have 4 l30 characters, your new character would receive a 40% xp bonus when levelling.
The annoyance with leveling comes more from the gated difficulty progression than leveling IMO.
I have to play like 3-4 uprising missions to unlock malice, 5~ malice missions to unlock heresy and even more to unlock damnation or auric? That’s incredibly boring, so I just skipped those difficulties using MMT and playing on heresy/damn/auric while leveling. I was level 28 when I “unlocked” Damnation and level 35 when I “unlocked” Auric I think, doing all that while hard stuck yet simultaneously over-leveled/powered at uprising/malice/heresy/damnation would put me to sleep fast.
Levelling is annoying for experienced players but still there needs to be some easing in and ‘practice’ with a new class I guess. Otherwise you’ll get loads of low level people trying to use a new class in higher difficulties that they haven’t mastered yet.
With my suggestion, levelling would be much, much faster and especially so if you have lots of l30 characters already. It would fly by so would ease the pain a lot IMO.
I would go as far as saying 20% per character fully leveled to 30. realistically if you have 4 characters at 30, you should get a 80% bonus. Do it faster, but not outright remove it and applies only to the character, not the weapon obviously.
I am not sure if I dig this level of customization on levels. it would guarantee no one would play any of the levels provided at all. and everyone would gravitate towards certain combinations. You might call me crazy but giving you exactly what you want is a bad idea in many game loops. you need stuff out of reach so you have incentive to play, saturating you with what you want takes away from the fun of it. I bet if what you wished were to happen, you would get bored of the game and call it quits in a week tops.
No, there has to be those annoying Malestorm levels, so you have to go through them and not the same select levels that everyone plays, we have this same issue in Vermintide 2, people play only certain levels over and over, you do quick play and you are joining the same damn levels every single round. it becomes exhausting.
So you are denying yourself enjoyment of the game because of - realistically speaking 3 or 4 hours of grinding which is not even gridning but familiarizing yourself with the game. and if you have friends that can carry you or ask around the morningstar, you can do it far faster. I feel like you are turning this into a waaaaaay bigger issue that it actually is.
I am still not convinced of tihs explanation, they imporved the class system - instead of that God awful verminide system of choose one of these 3 skills, which all sucked, you no get to craft your own identity in the tree, specially with skitarri, which i find myself changing nodes between mission depending on the mission i am going to undertake. they put out a whole blog post about this, so I am confused as to what is the grudge here? lack of communication? then put that as a grudge, not the “why did they make something that totally sucked, into something that is actually engaging and amazing! and not explicitly tell us that!” I am just so confused.
Help me please, it cant be this right? i am misunderstanding you for sure. no way this is your grudge here.
The issue is they said they would do quarterly class releases, then didn’t. While we can guess that they turned the VT2-style system they launched with into the (objectively superior) talent tree system of Patch 13 onwards and thus folded the initial plans for the other ‘classes’ (so stuff like Veteran Squad Leader w/ a shout, or Ogryn Gunlugger w/ Point Blank Barrage, the tree sections essentially) into the talent trees we got, at no point did they explicitly state this was what they were doing with it during the year plus of development it took to get there.
This is a really simple thing - they said they would do something, then didn’t do it. If they had at any point said ‘okay so quarterly releases have been shelved as we are reworking the class system from the ground up, stay tuned’, this would be dealt with.
