Still only getting useless gear from shop

I do understand that, and I wrote it down in this thread many times. I started commenting because there were some. People who jump from thread to thread commenting on how bad the system is want to change it to be a level playing field after around 100h of play, that’s the end goal.

I don’t expect you to read the previous walls of text so I just link one of my previous ones here so you can better understand where I’m coming from. Keep in mind that the conversation here got pretty heated and since then I made amends with the person to who I replied (I hope). Also, keep in mind that I have pretty well-developed viewpoints (to put it mildly) of several people on this forum who want a level playing field due to how they acted in other threads with a similar topic.

I would add to this that.

  1. I’m more or less fine with the current system personally as a direction (loot grind, chase items, etc.)
  2. I’m okay if FS implements a system with a level playing field. I’d probably burn out faster, but depending on what content and how often they put out I will stay for the long run.
  3. I think that the argument about how hard it is to experiment is overblown and usually mixed all around (Mixed as in it constantly jumps from perfect item non-perfect item 1 blessing 2 blessings 1 trait 2 traits etc.) same with what a “good” weapon is.
  4. It doesn’t help that there is always someone unlucky to point to, but when someone posts that he/she can’t get any good gear it can get really hard to actually understand what the person’s problem is. Is she considered 360+ good? 370+? t3 or t4 trait? What does this whole thing mean?
  5. There are some actual RNG balance issues in the game (Plasma, TH, FS…) that problem needs fixing, but when people don’t start their argument with “I think there should be no RNG and a level playing field.” you can point out any stuff like 322 K12 can be pretty dope and they won’t hear you because that not what they want. Edit: And they don’t tell you until someone wrestles it out of them after 100 comment posts.

This also doesn’t help:

This.

This^

Let me say this: I play more VT2 than DT because I like VT2. I would have played more VT2 even without the later content because I like everything in it except bugs etc., as opposed to DT which I play a bit in spite of all the numerous issues I have with it, the gear system having creept to the first spot the more I played.

And someone playing 1000 hours of VT2 and not having all reds… The only way I can accept it if the time was spent mostly on champion or below, and even then…

Nish is right about the odds in this case, that’s how probability is calculated.

Yes, except with Curios the blessing pool and perk pool don’t interact. So 26 blessings is still 1/26 (if you want a specific max blessing). Then lets even say only 19 perks with 4 tiers that’s 76. So let’s even say 3/76 and reinclude the perk you can re-roll. Then 2/75. And then we don’t care about the last perk since it’s a re-roll. That’s still 1/24700 or 0.004% chance of occurring. For one curio. Even if we lower perk numbers and treat it as rolling one after another, it still doesn’t look very good.

It’s even worse than that, because no one knows the odds of a maxed curio blessing compared to not maxed. It’s not like 17% toughness appears as often as 15%. It’s unknowable odds, but it’s dramatically worse than 1/26.

Which means whatever odds people come up with, they’re actually generous and far better than the trash FatShark has given us.

After almost 2 weeks of the changed shop I can confirm they have lowered a lot of rolls.

They fixed the rounding so the tons of 379s that would report 380 are gone, I literally have not seen 380 since then. Only 379s, and like 6. The actual roll of the amount of curios in armory exchange was changed to 2 at any time instead of 1 low 4 high. They very rarely hit 80% base rating, almost always 79% like the 379 modifier score guns.

Hopefully this isn’t permanent because curios are just a slog to deal with already. But I will keep drumming up my guy Melk, I will seriously run a curio that is like 16% toughness instead if it actually has 2 good perks and the option to change 1 out. At least 60% of the things I run came from him.

@Axehilt I appreciate where you’re coming from, but I’m just not interested in “just as good”…

I’ve had all 4 characters leveled to 30 since November 26th. I’ve completed all of the penances on all 4 classes. I’ve cleared all of the Damnation missions and am sporting the nifty frame ^_^.

I derive enjoyment from the game by collecting achievements and gear. That’s what’s fun for me. I do not argue that items that aren’t level 380 are worthless (they aren’t) or that I couldn’t settle for a sub-par item, despite having collected about a dozen level 380 items so far (I can), nor am I saying that you need this gear to clear the highest difficulties (you don’t, I’ve carried sub-level 15 characters through damnation).

All I’m saying is that if we’re going to have death by RNG, I would prefer (for myself) to have a better chance at getting level 380s, and let the chips fall where they may with regard to what other stats and blessings they have, so that at least that’s one less factor in The Great Grind Fest™ that is gear collection compared to the Red Bonanza® we had in VT2 doing Legend full book runs.

I’m not here to change anyone’s mind or poo poo people who having to settle for lesser gear because that’s what they have, I’m just saying that I find rewards for progression more…well, rewarding than a slot machine, that’s all.

It looks like FS agrees, at least in principal (from yesterday’s patch notes):

Not as high as I’d like, but it’s a step in the right direction!

inconsequential change too. makes absolutely no difference

Yeah you still rarely see good items and they usually get thrashed by bar allocation or have the blessing you want at T1 or T2 already. Or they just get wrecked upgrading because of locks. Still no solutions to things that are extremely annoying. Like if there’s no way to acquire another weapon to start with (no Brunt’s Armory didn’t fix anything) why can’t you restore weapons to Profane or reallocate base stats. Or at the very least you could upgrade your locked perk/blessings to max tier, something. Diamantine is still a worthless ever accumulating count of how much you’ve grinded. The system is still so bad.
