Why would there be one? Its not like he was even responsible for the game, just hilarious memes in his PR style. I really wish people would heap scorn at Anders instead. Catfish and Hedge didn’t 86 the attachment system, he did. He’s still trying to take a victory lap on a job well done removing kit bashing and gear tinkering from a 40k game. For shame.
Dang it, @anthov4419 is right. Now his profile says “Former Community Manager”. Last activity was August 8.
RIP my guy.
Well.
So we’ve got the announcement of an actual skill tree, and Hedge, the biggest PR sink, is gone…
What’s going on over there? Did one of the people who actually has authority look at the trash fire finally and decide to start putting it out?
Ah well. Since this is about weapon attachments, probably won’t happen. Thought it appropriate to leave this here then as lasting statement of why it wasn’t implemented. To which the only thing really remembered for…

Poor fella. I don’t really like how he handled Darktide’s launch at all, but he’s been with Fatshark for a really long time, so tis a shame nonetheless.
Eerrrr no… The announcement tab on forum still don’t have any official post about the skill changes…
Console release dated at oct 4. So my guess is the 13th patch near at that date as well
I was in that thread. From what I remember Hedge got led into saying that by that Green person pestering him. Green was also an infamous troll who kept changing his name and making threads that sh*t on DT or praised the developers to antagonise as much of the community as possible. He kept getting called out for trolling because you could see it was the same person through his profile. Probably one of the more successful steam forum trolls at that time, I wouldnt be surprised if he took that screenshot and was the one to spread it far and wide as his “conquest”.
lights and such are baked into the weapon capabilities, so i don’t expect them to just take them onto other things randomly. i did already suggest a version of the ripper guns that replaces the bayonet with a lamp and is used closer to the grenade gauntlet with normal attacks being melee slaps and gun bashes and alternate fire being the usual burst fire.
You can meet some of these “17 year old meth cyborgs” anytime by talking to VT2 veterans on the dt discord who have played tide games for half a decade, or check out youtube or twitch streamers who play the game. Feel free to be an ass to them, but I doubt you will make yourself look any good.
Exactly.
People fielded a crusade against Hedgyboi and it was completely ripped from context.
I’m all for giving people with an attitude a tough time, but here it was most undeserved. Worst part, those trolls succeeded and we had no communications for a while. Hedge never really spoke much of a word again, only most seldomly.
It was before the game released. A huge part of the community on the steam forums got permabanned because we didn’t want the 4 original characters that were presented to us. We wanted to be able to choose between a male or female, and despite some major opposition from some white knights, we ended up getting it.
Translation: “I raged so hard at the announcement of the 4 stand-in characters and used very divisive colorful language doing it, that I got repeatedly banned in the forums until it became a permanent ban.”
Going by what I see and have seen, it takes a lot to get perm banned on the Darktide forums in Steam (not the discord though, the mod team goes from 0 to 100 real quick).
We can still get them. If a mod can practically implement this simple attachment system without having to overhaul the entire weapon system itself, I think its completely doable. It will also increase playability, which is always great for business
That’s not the case at all. There were numerous threads saying how unsatisfied they were with the 4 base characters, and the same 4 white knights would come and troll each thread and personally address that clown Hudge. Then he would join in on the trash talk with these other geeks and ban anyone who opposed. Talk about being drunk on “power.” He suspended me, talked trash after suspension so I couldn’t reply, to which I then called him a coward, which he was, and he banned me. Simple as that.
With that being said, I love the tide games and want nothing but the best for them. But fragile people like him shouldn’t be a representation of this company.
Now lets not derail this thread with talks of him anymore.
Yeah, right. I will take that with a pinch of salt and some mayonaise for my fries.
I never saw the guy ban anyone without a good reason. Most of this forum’s users here never got banned and we’ve heaped plenty of scathing criticism on Fatshark. It was never what you said, but how you said it.
Even if you were being snarky, you’d more likely get an equally snarky response out of Hedge than you’d catch a ban for it. Hence the whole “Design Intend” and “This isn’t CoD” debacle.
I feel like not adding a flashlight to any of the ogryn’s weaponry seems like oversight if anything. Especially during light’s out missions and them being the largest lads who can damn near carry a fog lamp on their gun or head.
Nevertheless, if attachments can be modified like this with some stats being changed, ammo types being adjusted, or even QoL features on using scopes on weapons, then this would be a step in the right direction for more customizable weaponry. Sure it would be soul crushing to sacrafice a weapon to Hadron to receive a blessing, but the fact you can mod your guns like this would make rebuilding your armory that much more enjoyable.
Doubly so if it applies to melee weapons as well. Say an increase battery capacity for the Power Sword or Thunder Hammer for more charged swings? ![]()
This is the darktide I dreamed of )=
Seeing how badly this thread was derailed, all I want to say is this is just an infinitely more interesting system that wouldn’t bog down our current hourly slot machine pull.
Variants are incredibly half-baked and super uninteresting. But it’s a lot more difficult to sell weapon customization part cosmetics than it is full weapon skins, so it was probably just a money choice.
And the weapon cosmetics are extremely dissatisfying in that they can completely change the variant look of the weapon you are using. Marrying textures to models and selling them is such a design flaw or oversight that I can’t see it as anything but another example of horrendous mismanagement.
Most probably another rushed place holder, not unlike skill trees. I highly doubt weapon skins changing the MK of a weapon to something else appearance wise is the system they originally envisioned.
