Talk about priorities…
We’ve basically paid full price for a half finished game with the option to pay more money for a different hat.
I’d recommend anyone looking at this to bump this thread: So we always have to buy more premium currency then we need to buy premium stuff. Nice predatory tactic Fatshark. Tought you are better than this. Or maybe it's Tencent? Plus timer for FOMO since it seems to have garnered the most number of views from people so far.
The store’s options are lacking too lol! If you are going to dangle shiny nonsense that I will buy because I am a 40k nut atleast give more then they have put up lol.
Whats worse it is not just about the skins or the money, that they use dark patterns for all that is despicable.
- timed skins
- Aquila Packs do not match “prices” of skins (so it is always something left)
It is pure manipulation with no use for the players. Real cash would have also worked, but no, premium currency.
What a shame.
Bro the price of 4 full outfits matches the price of the base game, not to mention they promised to never prioritize microtransactions in past streams.
That, plus the lack of promised content and the huge performance smack, it’s an oof.
Fingers crossed for a major patch
Does the store sell anything but cosmetics? Isn’t it possible to purchase actual gear with premium currency (the same we get for weeklies). VT also had skins, and I don’t mind that, but if they start selling more powerful gear then I do. I’m away from a computer and I can’t really find anything online yet since this is so recent.
Still, they got the shop running, but not the crafting.
One gives them money, the other is a central part of the gameplay loop (upgrade gear/ collect better stuff (aka blessings)).
Speaks for itself.
Also they did it as a dark pattern.
- timed skins
- not matching prices of pack and skin
These are (with Aquilas themself) dark patterns and serve no use except to exploit customers. It is psychological manipulation, not a smart business model.
Why would they get rid of crafting? Wtf. The gameplay is fun, but they took away everything that was good about Vermintide. Talk about a step backwards.
Gotta say, the VT2 cosmetics store looks positively customer-friendly in comparison.
Was the aim of DT to one-up the sales of VT2 by being objectively worse in almost every domain ? Mission accomplished, probably.
I don’t see a problem with the cosmetic store since it is cosmetics, but they didn’t even release a finished game along with it. That’s what I’m pissed about. I feel like I’ve played the entire game already in the beta.
The problem is the funny-money currency that they have where you have to first buy monopoly money (more than you need) to then buy your item. There is absolutely no excuse for this. The second is the artificial scarcity induced by rotating the items available for sale adding to a sense of urgency for fear of missing out.
VT2 did this well. Give a price in local currency for whatever it is you want to buy, and show the entire stock of items at all times. Really trivial, non predatory, and provides a steady cash infusion which the devs actually do need.
I mean I do like the VT2 shop better, but if it’s on a rotation it’ll come back around if you want it. Also, not everyone and their mother will be wearing the same set because it’s the flavor of the month. I agree with the currency being scummy though since you could earn it in VT2 with the exception of a few items just being for flat money instead of money–>ingame currency—> cosmetic.
Hey guys, apparenty Crafting Weapons DOESN’T FIT THE SETTING according to devs:
BUT HEY! MTX STORE WITH PREMIUM CURRENCY TOTTALY FITS THE SETTING!
I don’t know if it’s more laughtable of pathethic at this point…
You’ve GOT to be KIDDING me. Really??
Nope, sadly not.
Do weapons grow on trees in the 41st millenium?
How can weapon crafting not fit the setting? Can I have some of whatever he’s smoking?
If someguy™ in alabama can craft a weapon, I’d hope people in the 41st century could…
That’s why there are no Space Marines. The in cash shop is directly implanted in their ocular cavity so it’s always center of the screen. So really, they’re doing us a favor… although, since we’re inmates, shouldn’t we be buying things by shanking people on the morningstar and taking their cigarettes?
How is crafting not a part of the Warhammer 40k universe when there is a literal religion in universe lore that is completely dedicated to the crafting and maintaining of machines? We have one in the game… A tech-priest literally crafts, repairs, and maintains all that is mechanical…
