So, is it good?

I’ve been reluctant to come back purely for the weapons update and new map.

But I’m more curious about everyones experiences so far. Are you enjoying yourself ingame right now? Is the new crafting giving the game new life? What about the new map? Playing it a few times for fun?

I’m also curious, how many of you are all ready feeling a bit tuckered out with this update? Any of you already waiting for the next content drop?

I’m tired boss, that was a LOT of clicking.

so far so good though, the new modifier is fun, love cutting into those beefy hordes.

… in hindsight, i wish I could have just paid hadron the equivilent cost of dockets/plasteel/diamantine to unlock the entire weapon tree, rather than going through the steps of buying then sacrificing all the weapons.

now I wonder to myself, whats the point of resources now? I have all of the weapons I wanted to begin with…

Hope they do something interesting with trinkets next.

The new system is an overcomplicated, clunky mess.
That said, it also solves the main issues many forumgoers had with the previous iteration, and if you get past the several hours of character switching and weapon sacrifices and redoing almost all of your skilltrees from faded memory, it is a net improvement.

Admittedly I came back after a 7 month hiatus, so there was a lot more for me to see.
Overall I quite like this as far as updates go - it did get me to start the game again, even though I never had an issue with the locks.

Having pondered it some more, I haven’t seen a single item over an actual base rating of 310 or so in the armoury, since the patch. Sure, those weren’t too common before, but they still clutter my inventory in case of some weapons, so it must’ve happened.
Seems FS exchanged the chance to require a lot of resources for a good item with a guarantee to require a lot of resources to get that ‘good’ item to actually be good. Granted, not quite as many, but unles I’ve just had bad luck for a few days, it seems the only way to get a good item to immediately play with now is melk or Emperor’s Reward. But then, maybe it isn’t quite done yet. I also haven’t seen the weapons made available to more characters be on offer for the characters they’ve been made available to.
By now I second the hope for an option to just pay resources to upgrade weapon masteries instead of having to first buy and upgrade weapons.

Good enough for me! Removing the tedium of the lottery elements and replacing it with interest in variable builds for my gear is a big win. No locks feels good, who’d’a thunk it??

That said, I’m very much in the camp of “<80% damage is fine”, and base acquisition is still a crapshoot afaik. I also don’t use that many weapons, and mastery allocation was still a significant overhead of clicking and thinking before getting back into the good stuff!

I have been having a blast with so much build variety that i can finally have.
The new mission though, not a fan of it.

After finally get my inventory mostly all cleaned out and under control - I’m looking forward to experimenting and trying out various weapon builds and options I haven’t been able to before. The old system was just so stingy between resources and bricking items.

I was 680 hours in and barely had much plasteel in reserve and was tired of pounding my head against the wall and the horrid RNG itemization system. Good riddance.

Happy with the changes and looking ahead, in much better spirits, to whatever is next.

They said they cranked down Brunt’s item ratings in exchange for the freedom of crafting. Still expensive to get a weapon to 500, but at least it should be consistent now. I haven’t seen any rating above 330 since the update.

In terms of thread topic, I don’t enjoy the amount of clicking you have to do, but the crafting is better than Vermintide’s now. Not merely acceptable; it’s great! Good items no longer come a dime a hundred and I’m free to do as I please.

So far I think Iv played only about 10-15 hours at most.

I like the new map. I like the change to the THammer. I like the change to the boltgun but especially the bolt pistol. It feels nicer to use now.

So far I like the deterministic crafting. No locks!

Im happy so far

The new train map is challenging, and I’ve yet to actually beat it after several tries. Overall I’m liking the challenge, but don’t find the minigame fun at all.

New music is :fire:

Crafting is…better. It’s absurdly overcomplicated, and still has RNG with item acquisition, but ultimately you can work with it. It solves the “locks” problem, it just does it in a ludicrous way.

No, but it was necessary. This is how the game should have launched, nothing more. That being said, there’s still useless/repeated blessings.

Level looks pretty neat but it’s about running against a clock and I hate that so much. Also it’s a 15 minutes mission, which I don’t like neither.

Definitely I am. I really hope that now that the game has finally launched properly they start with real content.

The new map is pretty fun if you don’t mind failing while people get used to how to play it.

The new crafting system is meant to improve the new player experience. If you’re already kitted out with lots of blessings farmed, it’s mostly just a series of menus you have to decipher and click through before you get to play the game again.

Tip which I wish they’d mentioned earlier: You can sell weapons for mastery XP. If you’ve got weapons stacked up which weren’t really useful for anything, you can use them to skip a lot of the weapon grind. From now on, I’m just not going to sell/trash ANY gear I get from emp’s drops or whatever. Instead, I’ll stack them up and use them to insta-max any new weapons that are released in the future. That way I’ll never have to deal with this stupid weapon grinding BS.

Edit: I wasn’t quite fair - The new system is vastly better when you’re maxed out and resources don’t matter anymore. Being able to just grab one of the good bases you’ve got stacked up and make it perfect for your build in minutes is such a huge improvement.

Always getting at least a little bit of movement toward getting stronger or more specialized weapons. Can just focus on the combat instead of worrying my weapons might just be too weak for the scenario. The cost to test blessings is incredibly cheap, and upgrading from 3 dot to 4 dot isn’t bad either. Even swapping weapon marks is free, so I can just test instead of remember why I don’t like a certain weapon.

Exp to level up a weapon is not bad either. Can sacrifice any weapon towards your chosen weapon line to get a small boost as well.

Very nice actually. Makes me wonder what would have happened if they released the game in this state or patched it to this state before the second release with the skill trees.

Yes I am. I’m not enjoying the train map as much as some people. I wish the timer was longer so we can actually take a little bit of time to enjoy it.

But the fact there are now no locks is wonderful. I’m having to break my muscle memory of heading straight to brunt when logging in…because I now have my best weapon! I can just go straight to the action!

Also the best bit about this update is the special event with hordes of Moebian troops. It’s insanely fun!! Easily the most fun I’ve had in a very long time. Auric damnation with this special event feels totally insane (in a good way). Highly recommend :+1: I just hope they keep it as a regular condition.

Yesterday I used the helbore for pretty much the first time. I could instantly use @Orome’s build (thankyou) and give it a run out.

It was ace. Even if I only scored 54% weak spot rate.

Now is the time* to get back in and tick off those mastery trees because I’m convinced it’s currently bugged. You can get max return from basic green weapons, and friends say that they’re getting mastery for weapons they’ve not (nor have ever) used.

If that gets patched out it’ll be a lot harder.

(*) technically about 4 weeks ago would’ve been better as you could buy up brunts inventory at up to 380.

Absolutely enjoying the new map and the new patch.

Enjoying the leveling mechanic of the weapons and learning my more rarely used weapons.

Buff to the helbore is great.

The timed element is a nice and gives you the option of an actual quick game if you want one.

Yes if you already have everything unlocked having to click all the blessing takes time, but we’ve all played games where set up takes time.

Overal great patch very needed

Well, the issue is that that means that unless you’re impossibly rich, the only way to try out a new weapon is to get it through emperor’s gift or melk.
Let’s assume I wanted to try out an Ogryn Power Maul and didn’t have a high rated base lying around because I’ve been playing much before the patch.
Now, I get one at the armoury.
It’s about 300 rating.
I can’t even upgrade it to anything useful without sacrificing about 20 other weapons, then I’d have to play with a still decidedly subpar weapon for who knows how many games because empowering it to reach its potential costs me at least several 10ks.
So, honestly, I would just not bother. Sure, I know have the freedom to try anything out - anything, not everything - but I can’t be bothered with the tedium that’s guaranteed to be waiting for me.
I wanted to try out a heavy sword on psyker, but, with a mere 200k dockets, I found myself unable to afford it.
In effect, the amoury has, for me, turned into nothing but a source of mastery upgrades.
I wish I had been playing in the last months and read all the patch previews religiously, then I would have stocked up on weapon bases. Luckily, I still have good material for most of them.

So, ironically, I think the new system does very much not improve the new player experience - it does offer flexibility at first, yes, but then you’ll have to grind for 20 missions to have the resources to get a single weapon worthy of higher difficulties. Great at the start, great at the end, but I pity the people stuck in the middle.

Edit: For clarification: I was never bothered by the locks, nor do I need “perfect” equipment, and overall, I still like this patch. Just not unequivocally.

there are zero ways you can spin the old crafting system being better.
I have spent massive amounts of crafting materials only to not get anything close to what i wanted. now it takes 100k to 200k dockets and 1-3k plasteel +500 diamantine to get a mint perfect roll.

it took me 27k plasteel+1 mil dockets to max out all the masteries before fatshark gave everyone free XP.
I understand that might seem like a big amount depending on the threat level you’re used to but someone like me whos pushing 2k hours 1k of them being on t5s is not acceptable.
Now we have a clear and cheap route to any weapon we want.
