NVIDIA Smooth Motion is a driver-based AI model that delivers smoother gameplay by inferring an additional frame between two rendered frames, for titles without DLSS Frame Generation support.
I’ve tried Smooth Motion in various games, but it still seems to be in an experimental stage.
Its behavior and stability can vary significantly depending on the game’s API (Vulkan or DirectX). Additionally, using Adaptive Sync, Frame Generation, or Reshade can sometimes cause screen flickering.
In particular, the combination of Vulkan and Reshade appears to be problematic, causing flickering in many games.
Yep, 4090 as well & with Smooth Motion off, it’s just fine without the crazy strobe light flickering show. Smooth Motion has worked decent in other games without the DLSS option. It’s just a handful of games like Darktide where it’s sht. That’s a great point… Smooth Motion isn’t even needed in Darktide anyway.
