Selling Recolors is unacceptable

That’s really it. The Ogryn set that was added this last week is just a recolor of an earlier set. FatShark, you are out of your mind if you think I am ever going to buy another set in this game if you just keep releasing recolors for 10 bucks a pop. Insanity, pure insanity.

Be a better company Fatshark. Just because something is “industry standard”, doesn’t mean you have to climb down in the gutter with the rest of them. Lead by example, show the players, the fans of your games, that you give a damn about them.

Be a company that earns the respect and love of its customers, and you’ll be successful where so many others fail.

That would mean the shareholders see slightly reduced profit growth, so no, they won’t do that.

I mean, you just have not to buy it…

I’ve never supported this kind of predatory monetization, not even just for cosmetics.

I accept expansions and DLCs, if it’s a pretty dress I just think less of the game.
If it’s selling power I don’t even consider the game worth of my attention.

Here what you can do with for_the_drip mod and weapon customization…

Please FS allow us to do this without having to use mod and so that would allow us to use these customization and be seen by others

Recolor of existing clothes… + customized weapons on a vet

An assassin without the red of the original clothes

Weapon customization for the ones that don’t know this excellent mod

Random infantry autoguns…

So recolor, yes… but let it us doing it like we want in the game on clothes we buy… sell us textures, models and stop this toxic business
I want to support the game… ok. But don’t push too much with the monetization

I understand, and refuse to buy these myself (despite that Ogryn armor dammit), but that doesn’t change that we should still yell at Fatshark for their predatory nonsense. It’ll at least show not everyone is fine with it.

Yeah they really missed the mark of a good balance on cosmetics. Premium ones should be more premium, like if your character is wearing a bunch of stuff that would clip on the loading Valkyrie screen, give them a different pose there. Helmets and jackets should have styles like TF2 items, where you can make them slightly more personalized. Make leg replacements have slightly different foot step sounds. And the recolors should be basic and not repackaged deals.

Oh well. We have Grassman and the for the drip authors to at least fix this client side.

Never heard a more stupid sentence.
The more appariscent a paid skin is the more stupid I think the user is.

I respect seeing someone with a hard to get achievement armor/pose/whatever, when I see a credit card armor I can only think the player sucks.

How can I get this mod?? Its not listed on the Nexus Homepage :eyes:

Honestly if they did something similar to warframe I wouldn’t be so against it but selling straight up recolours for full price sucks.

Essentially you have your skins, attachments, etc that you can buy with the base colour and look. Then you can modify it with any paint pallet your own which all cost like maybe a 50 cents to a dollar each or are purchased with in game currency during special events and from in game shops.

I get that the genie is out of the bottle for cosmetics but there is ways to make them suck far less.

it is not yet realeased. The work is incredible, both for for_the_drip and weapon customization. But, I would really like that FS make this game better and successful. When you test these mods, you cannot stop asking how FS did not want to implement this and make money with this…
This is incredible.

Changing character appearance to something they selling will certainly will violate their mod policy. Collimator sights for autoguns is cool though.

You cannot use any model they sell and that you don’t own…

Oh, thats good, thx.

Yes, I am aware of both mods, but here is the thing:

Recolors form the bulk of all the unreleased sets in the game files. All of the Cadian sets that are currently just sitting there? Recolors. Every single last one. I can make them right now, no lie, with FtD, but do you think Fatshark is going to sit idly by once a significant portion of the playerbase becomes aware of FtD and knows full well that they can emulate all of the Cadian sets without paying more money for them? You have to pay money for a set that uses the same model, yes, but Fatshark is absolutely sitting on the Cadian sets to try and get as much money out of them as possible when they decide to drop them. I was absolutely shocked to find that they were all recolors, and now I can only imagine that unless they release them for free/as penance (fat chance) then I am willing to bet that they change their guidelines for modding and makes using FtD a bannable offense.

Too bad you’re doomed to see them fail.

This isn’t a case of ObeseTubaFish making a few bad decisions. This is the entire company - management of course but developers, CMs, etc as well - activelly EMBRACING doing the bare minimum effort for short term gain. Something that their backers in Tencent actively encourage as its the “industry standard” in China. As far as they are concerned those who only spend money here and there are useless except to give the whales someone to impress with their latest stuff.

It would be nice if they gave two hoots but I just don’t see it happening after the past six months. Its pretty obvious at this point that the only ObeseTubaFish tried to have a good relationship with its players at the start was how badly the initial launch tanked and its attendant rating. Now that they’re in the “mostly positive” range they don’t see the need to bother with keeping non-whales happy.

As long as 3/4 of the games income comes from maybe 10%, we ain’t going to see jack in the way of actual improved behavior from them. Just the same canned excuses, lazy work, and personal agendas/ pandering as before.

Hmmm… as I said.
I want Fatshark give us weapon customization and the possibility to apply texture on any model… they have everything to do it…

I have to agree. They’ve hooked the Xbox player base for a quick cash infusion alongside bringing in more players to pay for things. They’ve got no reason to improve their act.

It’s sad to see a company fail this hard, but that’s what happens when you’re both publicly traded and incompetently run to the point you have to sell the company off to Tencent to stay non-bankrupt.

Profit uber alles.

Maybe if Steam has their reviews tank again in the coming months we’ll see a pivot. I know Dying Light 2’s players got that to happen once they rioted over Techland introducing microtransactions, and War Thunder’s players did something similar. It’s basically the only way to wring anything out of management at this point.
