Cosmetics are the worst I've seen in a long time

I didnt spend 17 years painting colour schemes to come up with My Guys, to play as Your Guys.

Cosmetics are set colours.

It’s also in an RNG shop.

Combined with that lack of personalisation the price of the current cosmetics is nothing short of Insulting.

80,000 for basic pants is:

22 entire matches of playtime, twenty two!
Five and half hours. FIVE and a HALF. Thats a full days work!
£55 at minimum wage!

I want to support your game, because I want to support it, not because you demand the right to railroad players into having no other reasonable option, and up until now I did want to support it, but I’m not so sure anymore.

I’ve already bought aquillas, I’m prepared to give you money for cosmetics, but I’m not going to pass the buck because it doesnt affect me as a “premium” payer because its not fair on others.

It’s agredious to sell substandard cosmetics and charge extornionate prices for the inferior product, even if thats in playtime!

Even if you could customise them, which from the single colour duplicate trousers, its clear you can’t, a full days work is utterly appauling. I could do one extra shift and get real suit pants for that! Hell I could go on amazon and get an entire outfit.

It also suggests how stupid the real world prices might be, If I can get a model the the cost of outfiting a character, I’m gonna buy the model.

If I wanted to be cycnical i’d say the free shop is there to trick people reading reviews into thinking they can get them for free when realisticy they can’t.

I am appauled and ashamed of you.

I’m angry you think so little of peoples time, and I’m scared how much you pay your workers on that basis, this throws up all sorts of nasty questions.

It’s immoral to have three distinct penalties on free players, I won’t be party to that, and you can find free labour bug reports somewhere else.

Also the green-grey colour is ugly.

Edit
I’d also submit, this is short sighted as the two biggest you tubers who cover 40k games, are ever highly or mildly, pro-comsumer and likely to take note of it. and no I’m not including the dead one.

I seriously suggest you rethink this, even the lowest at 15,000 is four matches, and an hour of play, which seems like it should be around or higher than mid-tier.

This might not be an issue for beta players, but beta players are spending all day in the game, I know I was , and they’re gonna be way more forgiving than the general public.

I think your reaction to the cosmetic shop is entirely overdramatic. The prices are fine, considering the alternative is RMT, and there’s certainly nothing about it that’s immoral lmao

I mean, I’m pretty sure aquila will mostly be use for premium cosmetic (likely 20 buck the pack of one skin per class or 7 each).

free cosmetic are hard to get because they are a way to keep the player engaged in the end game. so you don’t end up after a month saying that new cosmetic need to be added because you have nothing to buy.

Based on the last update post and your 5.5h estimation most of the players of the beta would be able to buy a skin every week (beta was up for two weeks and people have around 11hours on the game).that’s not an egregious time considering there likely not going to be hundreds of cosmetics.

The prices are a bit too high for sure.

Hopefully they’ll make a habit of adjusting prices as more cosmetics are added.

But it’s a big exaggerated to say that 22 matches is equivalent to work, unless you’re playing ONLY to unlock skins.

Hell, nevermind all the things you receive while playing - Crafting materials, Emperors Gifts, Weekly Contract credits.

Now something that could mitigate the grind is a means to convert Contract points to common credits.

Likewise for Plasteel and Diamantine materials.

I feel it is. In fact i feel ridden.

I should not need to take a day to get new pants, let alone a week its disgusting, and I cant even choose the colour, which violated the idea of my guys. stuff that.

There is one camo, minimum six colours, four outfits, in two parts, with recoloured sleves. thats 96, which is, 1,056 hours or 44 days in game.

and being RNG you might NEVER get the one you want.

We don’t know if the only way to get these items is in this shop., so even spending cold ahard cash might not get us the items we want.

we should not accept this, because we’ve seen it, it only gets worse game after game., when will it be enough?

they should ajust them now, divide by 10, you’re right tho, with the number of gun you need, it more than 22 matches. 22 is best case.

its already RMT, and expensive, and decided by fatshark, one is enough to get conviance purchases out of players, they’ve taken all 3, its greed, thats all is.

I fear the only reason you think thats the alternative is because you’ve been ridden so much, the game industry has broken you in.

Where is your fire? Where is your self worth? don’t you deserve more than this? Does’t eveyone?

We have proven we can change things like this with much bigger corperations, we have that power, why will you not use it?

You sound like you should be yelling from a street corner, selling pencils from a cup. Yes, Fatshark is clearly representative of monolithic corporate greed.

Are you playing the game to get cosmetics or are you simply playing the game?

A good point was raised here though, recolours/dirty versions shouldn’t be entirely separate cosmetics.

EDIT: Didn’t realise how many cosmetics they’d added, I’ve changed my mind.

I’m playing to play as my guys from my regiment, on which I have spent my money. I’m playing for fun, griding isnt fun, its a problem the developer invented with a keystroke, which they expect you to solve, in priniple it’s racketering, demanding money to solve a problem the racketter has created!

Why is grind, rng, or multibuy not too much? Why is three differnent funneling methods not greed?

My issue isnt grind, its not rng, its not recolours, its all of them at once, thats not industry standard, thats mobile standard.

What regiment is that? This isn’t Dawn of War. You’ve got a selection of recolours that fit the current aesthetic. It’s probably a small variety of what we will finally end up with. Gold isn’t that hard to generate.

This is 40k, a base franchise where customisation is at the core of the hobby, you forget that you’ll alienate 60% of the 40k playerbase.

I just explained why it is hard to generate, I’m disabled, games are hard for me on lowest difficulties, even without that 5 hours for brown pants is an appauling valuation of my time.

Even if you’re fine with that, these items are RNG as well, you might never see the colours you need, the colours I need are tan, green and black, and I might never see them.

If they want to keep a style this can be done with colour tone, you can take two units from two painters, with two different palates, wash them both brown and they both fit.

This is unnessary, unkind, and unreasonable.

If I could dye the clothes, even if I had to pay money for it, I’d be far less insulted, but we can’t, we get what we’re given. and with rng, even the most basic combos, we might never get.

We don’t even know if we’ll be able to buy the base cosmetic in the shop.

This forum never ceases to amaze me with the absolute hysterics that people work themselves up into.

I mean, really. They’re price points for an in-game currency that requires only playtime to get. Not even that much at higher difficulties. If you think it’s too grindy, fine, perhaps levy some constructive criticism instead of accusing Fatshark of moral bankruptcy and wage theft. Lmao.

Fatshark are majority owned by tencent. This is a complete self own.

Oh yes, that makes you sound infinitely more reasonable.
And clearly the 180 odd people working at Fatshark are indistinguishable from Tencent.
And clearly you have to buy the entirely cosmetic items.
And clearly it’s totally impractical to just play and enjoy the game and naturally accrue the dockets, which are showered on you like confetti compared to what there is to spend them on.
My mistake

Perhaps, but that doesn’t quite reflect the strength of feeling as well, and I did detail how agreious it is.

Also I’d point out you assume people can play higher difficulties which is frankly fairly ablist and it would be nice if you could think of someone not so blessed with such abilities, or perhaps even as many fingers as yourself.

And now difficulty levels are ablist! Just when I thought this hysterical outpouring couldn’t get funnier. It’s like these people are constitutionally immune to both reason and irony.
