this whole “I help” semantics by trying to occupy enemies instead of deleting them when perfectly capable to do so by different means, is what let’s it feel like deliberate slacking.
but then those putting in the works are “sweats”
well no sherlock, you dig that hole yourself with 3 others yapping at the side, you’ll be sweating like a in no time as well
again, premades and “familiar” faces are one different and “tolerated” story, randoms though always provide the worst experience that way so green circles kinda chase by themselves cause nobody’s else is picking up the ball.
aint my fault I end up with 70% of the kills total when one ogryn plants his shield, the psyker goes turret palpatine and the third one is busy chasing plasteel some 2 rooms back
I already explained why this wouldn’t really be the case. You would only be able to commend someone once a day. Friends can still commend each other but your going to earn more commends by playing with randoms. That is how it works in foxhole and it works perfectly there.
I’m just saying we should have more team focused metrics shown to encourage people to chase “good” green circles. Such as enemies staggered/damage blocked/toughness regenerated. Will some people still play badly and ignore this? Sure, is that a negative to this suggestion? Not really. I mean people definitely aren’t chasing these metrics as is, at least this suggestion makes some people chase them.
3k+ hours havoc only player and have met maybe one mildly “toxic” Guy. saying the Vet should have more special kills than Arby (before Arby was nerffed and Vet was buffed). Vet was focus target with all support keystones, field improv team player, the Guy was using scoreboard to say “Veteran what are you doing you should have more special kills than the Arby”. Then Vet just told him they were trying a boss killer build (which he did he’d wipe any monstrosity within 4-15 seconds). And they went about their day nothing to crazy. If anything the scoreboard helped him show his half a million boss damage showing his build worked. I wouldn’t mind a scoreboard implemented in game even if it was just positive participation reward focused. At least console players would be able to see their damage.
and that’s what it’s about, shutting up doubters with facts in the positive scenario, while going out my way even if I wanted to create a “negative” one would be just wasted breath on deaf ears.
the dudes with 10%tops dmg in all categories across the whole board ain’t gonna comprehend let alone learn from one (even if warranted) callout.
yet the scenario goes about scolding all the under performers all day.
if people would do this there’d be far less valuable playtime as you had to explain your point to a non-receptive “audience” for far longer than it takes to finish 4-5 matches, so whats the point?
I highly doubt anything will change with a system like that, regardless of scoreboard, it’s still easy to see who dies more often, messes up, etc. The toxicity isn’t going away, if there is any (truth be told, I’ve rarely seen toxic people in over 1k hours).
I do run the scoreboard addon and I’ve seen my fair share of good and bad players, but I don’t care, everyone’s there to have fun. I actually enjoy being able to “carry” others if s* hits the fan. The scoreboard is a helpful tool to theorycraft, see how you’ve been doing in terms of damage taken / teamplay / CCs among other stats.
I’ll be honest, it’s the same argument in games like WoW where people claim scoreboard or gearscore is toxic, and often these are the very people that tend to underperform and want everything handed to them on a silver platter. My 2c is always to make your own group via discord or w/e so you can agree on rules/mods.
FatShark isn’t there to nanny players on toxicity, and I do think obviously that they really need to get some mods as standard features, especially the quality of life improvement ones (I’m looking at you FullAuto / Filter Sacrifice / Loadout Names/etc).
The main thing fatshark was looking to address by removing scoreboard was to prevent “green circle chasing” not really just chat toxicity. It was a attempt to encourage more team focused gameplay rather then focusing on one’s score. I don’t think this is all that effective.
Oh yes. It is human nature to seek cuplability in times of tragedy.
Scorboard would at least motivate people a bit to actually do something because guess what, usually the most useless teammates are the loudest.
Most players will deny any responibility for a wipe, even when the stats call them out.
I specifically said that the current system is bad and requires a lot of extra steps, leading to people very rarely choosing to continue playing together.
