Revolver idea

It’s for bursters coming at you for the most part. Pretty much the only time I use weapon specials is when a burster is coming with my gun out. Headhunters at the moment are horrible in that regard though, and I still swap to melee if I’m using one. Wouldn’t mind if the special was something else though, like a HEAT round or something.

I would say a little like Heretical_Cactus

Light variant (actual that will surely be nerfed when others come)

  • speedload system. Or a speed loader or, and I would prefer it as it would benefit for all, the system I described here

Medium variant

  • Explosive bullet: can stun aoe / open shield of bulwark / high damages but AOE, so less damage toward a single target
    OR
  • AP bullet that can go through any armor (super cleave)

Heavy variant:

  • Shell shot similar to a shotgun but more devastating than shotguns we have. Long time to load the special shell

I’d go speedload and surgical. Handcannon on a crit build or until patch 14 when it stops applying to melee weapons. That’s how i run my two. I can’t live without speedload.

The only problem is. FatShark will not delete their WELL-DESIGNED animation, even if revolver becomes a clown. It’s first load animation is annoying but it’s for lore. So the only way make it better is adding a speedloader.

Well, they could add speadloader as a blessing, but I don’t really like the idea. @Heretical_Cactus proposition for speedloader when drum is empty is much more appealing. As for 2nd and 3rd Mk for revolver… Higher calliber but less ammo in the drum? I can’t imagine revolver dealing even more damage… So our current Zarona should be the heavy Mark.

Still, if the changes shown for patch 14 come to pass revolver will deal more damage then the bolter. Which is ridiculous.

Depends on what class and build you are running. A perfect example is the Psyker has a talent where after 5 weakpoints hits (either melee or ranged) your next ranged attack is a guaranteed crit. So on Psyker when I run that talent, I run Hand Cannon and Speedload to make use of it. Additionally vet can get I believe a base +30% crit chance when running the crit node and Deadshot, so you could 100% run a crit blessing or hand cannon with speedload on that.

pistols should fill the melee weapon slot, not the primary weapon slot.

No, a melee+ranged weapon kit should exist and could be put in the melee slot, but not like that

a revolver being a viable primary weapon in parity with long guns and las rifles is absurd. The pistol could just be a blunt weapon that also has a weak short range shot.

Yeah it’s a real shame. I guess if you shoot multiple specials in close range and there are still more it’ll be beneficial, but that’s about it.

One of my buddies figured out how to make the revolver oneshot reapers, on vet, without using volley fire. It is, as far as i know, currently better than the plasma gun in every way. The S3 Ap- revolver with quickdraw that should be for specialist sniping on the fly is better at big targets than the dedicated big target weapon. Lol.

i never understood why they didn’t just give the vet a 2nd range slot that could only be equipped with a pistol, much like counter strike. It would be on brand for the class and make the pistols fit the theme. As they are now it is just silliness.

Its way off how they should be used. I agree with you on this point. It’d be fun if there was a system that kinda gated the girth of your melee weapon based on if you brought a pistol or not too. Power sword is out, catachan sword is in. That kinda thing.
