i REALLY like the bolt pistol. it isn’t as great as it should be but its still a nice weapon. my only real complaints are that it doesn’t deal enough base damage and its special isn’t that great for anything, i have a way to fix that. make it so that instead of just having a push that can lead into shooting the person point-blank, give the bolt pistol a powerfist that punches across the screen (or upper-cuts) and deals a large amount of damage to anything that isn’t armored but also has a long cooldown so that it doesn’t destroy hordes. i would also make it so that this is a completely different weapon that is unlocked a few levels before the first and it should be exclusive to the vet.
Why make it a separate weapon? Just have the punch be part of the base boltpistol. One would be better than the other (in terms of awesomeness, at least).
Also, I see everyone talking about giving Veterans the power fist, but if anything I think Ogryns should have it. Big men can already slap around puny heretics with their bare hands, imagine how much more powerful they could be with an explosion for each punch.
alright so i’ll just break it down real quick, Ogryn and Vet can both have power fists, there are power fists for humies and for ogryns as far as i can tell. and as for making it a separate weapon, i think that changing the current bolt pistol would just be a bit out of the question and it would be fairly easy to make the powerfist model (just beef up the enforcer glove thing and add some extra bits) and everything else. also, it’d be a nice vet exclusive weapon.
