Ironic seeing as it appears that the devs don’t understand how game design works.
the best kind of feedback you can give as a player when devs are concerned about fun, is whether or not something feels fun and why you think so. It doesn’t matter what kind of maths or excuses you give like “this weapon is statistically overperforming!” or “the ratio on such and such is not efficient enough!” all of that nerdy garbage is some player trying to play game developer like a mall cop playing real cop. It’s probably really tiring to developers to get told how to do their job by some andy who wrote a book report on why they know better on how to develop the game. Sure, everyone is guilty of this from time to time, even myself, because there is passion, but it’s really not needed.
Is it fun? yes/no? If no, why? If you cannot even grasp the concept of fun because you are a boring person, keep your input to yourself because nobody is interested in your math.
Like when they can’t do basic math and mess up toughness, toughness stacking, the Zealot Martyrdom talent etc?
You’ve made a complete strawman. People are telling them their game isn’t fun and also giving them the math for when things in their game are broken.
people make mistakes, it’s amazing right?
I thought they were professionals and nobody should be giving them feedback because that’s their job? It’s a particularly myopic viewpoint you have. Most people in jobs that don’t like questions from outsiders are crap at their jobs, because they often don’t know the answer and this lack of knowledge creates a feeling of inadequacy leading to hostility.
I really don’t get what people like you gain from brown-nosing the devs when they drop the ball. You’ve made up a group of people to deflect from legit criticism this game has been getting. The game isn’t fun right now. It’s grind heavy, bug heavy and is missing content.
What about BBB then?
Seriously, that’s your stance on this issue? It’s entertainment, my guy. You don’t need a theoretical degree to understand this arcane concept called “fun”. These developers are not making a breakthrough in Internet Protocol classification; they’re making video games. If a majority of users are not being entertained by your product then you’ve failed as a game maker. Not rocket science.
If you’re incapable of listening to feedback in order to extract the important bits which might improve your overall product, and or get too emotional when someone criticizes your game, thus ignoring it; then maybe you shouldn’t be a game maker. Guess what, people are going to criticize your video game, people are going to insult it, people are going to trash it; welcome to the market of making a product for which hundred of thousands of people are going to consume.
You should not be getting a free pass for making an experience that a majority of users are displeased with just because,“making games is hard”.
It’s basically the tired old story of “You can’t complain about bad food if you’re not a cook yourself because cooking is hard work!” or “You can’t complain about a bad movie because you’re not a Hollywood executive and making movies is hard work!”
I think I’m going to give Vermintide 2 an install again, play through the content I’ve missed. Darktide status: Shelved.
Ain’t Fatshark’s MO. They stick with their games even when the player count goes underwater. They kept churning out DLC for Vermintide 1 long, LOOOOONG after the playerbase had shrunk down to barely a couple hundred players.
Try playing Chaos Wastes. It’s a very enjoyable mode.
May not know the whole story, but i think that’s what happened with VT and VT2
DT kinda shows us they rearranged priorities
Not in the slightest. Every single tide game had an abhorrent, bug-ridden, unfinished release. VT2 in particular still had lots of placeholders carrying over from the previous games. Such as Saltzpyre telling Bardin that he’ll buy him a drink in the Red Moon Inn whenever Bardin revived him. The Red Moon Inn that, canonically, no longer exists by the time of Vermintide 2.
Vermintide 2 sold way better than VT1…just saying
There is a period of years between one and the other? The popularity of 2 being built off of the first one and the passion of the devs. It’s not a good example.
I suppose I didn’t express myself accurately then, I didn’t mean that FS were just going to abandon this next month in favour of working on the next game. But I did mean that I have a feeling that we’re going to see a DT2 sooner rather than later instead of them pumping in their energy into fixing DT and bringing it up to the same level of VT2.
40€ wasn’t even AAA pricing during NES days.
I really like fatsharks games but the only way I’ll have any respect for them as a developer again is if they acknowledge the rocky launch and player grievances, apologise, and give us at least 3 or 4 content updates for free.
Doesn’t look like that’s going to happen though.
to be fair, that’s basically what happened during VT2. Just…without the acknowledgement and apology parts. But we did get a ton of free sh-t over the last 4 years.
How many other companies would have charged like, $20 for chaos wastes? Basically every single one. The fact that we got that for free is actually insane and was by far the best piece of content we got for the game.
