Poxbursters don't get enough hate, and I hate it

I’m going crazy. I’m trapped in a room. A rubber room full of poxbursters.

Bursters are directly or indirectly the cause of 90% of the damage I take.

List of bugs off the top of my head::

  • Can only be pushed by the person they have aggro on
  • Snapping and changing aggro. Every mob does this but with bursters it’s a huge hassle
  • Early/late jumps. Can start the explosion jump way outside of push block range, and sometimes can be unavoidable damage if that happens at the same time you dodge. Or the burster can just run directly in your face for a smooch and now you have to spend time dealing with that nonsense.
  • Audio issues. Every mob has this, but bursters have it the worst. I can hear trapper/bomber/flamer spawns consistently, but the burster spawning and beeping is just dead silent unless you’re already really close.

It’s gotten to the point I was motivated to make this post because this buggy inconsistent mess of a mob is (I don’t want to exaggerate, but) actively making me shut down the game more often. I’m posting this here on the forums and on the bugs page because I genuinely want the devs to see and fix this. No stop my biggest frustration with the game currently.

P.S. trapper net shot audio is bugged this patch and makes no noise sometimes.

Yeah, it’s been like this for quite sometime now. I’ve complained a million & one times about it, but nothing, oh they’ll acknowledge it, but ignore it. Probably my number 1 annoyance actually. They’ll be at a spawn point dead silent & blow up on you, or they blow up on you silent as well anyway. Now, I never go near spawn points because of it, unless I’m at a corner hitting through the wall to be safe. My guess is that this is probably a pretty big fix, so they’ll ignore it like everything else. It’s like the REAL issues that need to be fixed never do. Don’t worry, they’ll fix the stupid cosmetic clipping instead.

Don’t forget to include double Bursters aggroing the same player, one right after the other.

Push the first, second one passes the first, jumps and right as the player pushes the second Burster the first Burster explodes, then the explosion detonates the second Burster right in the players face.

Lately it seems they don’t get pushed, very often, i push them, but they still fall forward and not just me, i’ve seen same happened with other players.

I agree, and i also feel this way about barrels. I think barrels should just be removed. All they have ever done in my experience is harm the team and maybe kill 3 poxwalkers at the same time

The worst thing about them is when they spawn just a few feet from you and instantly go into the fast pinging state, ready to jump. It all happens within 1 seconds so you don’t have any warning. Essentially a burster just flies out of a magic portal at your feet.

I strongly agree with another post on the forums recently that suggested all specials should have a minimum spawn distance so that they all have to journey to you, to give better chance of awareness.

Of all the audio bugs, I honestly haven’t gotten the impression that pox bursters are a big problem. Any time I’ve been hit by one I knew at least peripherally it was there.
And I mean come on guy. If nothing else can manage to hit you, you sweaty little Achilles, maybe bursters are your heel? You can’t expect to be invincible sir, that would be unfair.

Same here. Apart from OP’s points of sound issues and PBs not being pushable by others than their target, everything else is just “sh*t happens”. PBs are meant to be a serious threat and a certain unpredictability belongs to that IMHO.

Just have a little patience I’m sure Fatshark will fix it in only 2100 days

That first Poxburster just wanted a smooch!

Nothing I hate more than shoving a poxburster away, only to still get hit by it.

That and I’ve seen them jump early sometimes, so you are close enough to be hit by it but not close enough to shove it away. Or when they immediately jump out of a door at you.

Interesting, I don’t remember experiencing the first case in over 700 hours (pushing through a burster). Maybe a lag issue?

I don’t see a problem with the other two cases, though. Both bursters were clearly audible. The first one changed direction at the end, but I think that’s just something you’ll have to expect and prepare yourself accordingly. I didn’t notice anything special in the last video. What’s the issue there?

First case is the burster bug I see the most. It’s not uncommon but not rare either. Second video the burster was targeting the downed player which isn’t a bug but hey, I hate bursters, screw em. The more hate the better. Third video the burster audio was weirdly desynced. Probably was for that Zealot too considering she didn’t push it.

It happens whenever a burster is targeting somebody else and you happen to be there, the first push simply doesn’t work.

3rd video was a case of the audio being audible, then being muted and then being audible again AFTER it started its jump. I’ve experienced all there is to experience with bursters, those things are wack as hell.

A significant amount of the damage I take is from inconsistent stuff like everything going on with bursters, which I see as unfair. They’re the main culprit though for sure.

Also fun fact, did you know that the damage poxbursters deal isn’t consistent?

I need the barrels for easy martyrdom stacks they can stay.

Bursters and trappers are the reason I use spidey sense mod. And only for those mobs.

The most annoying burster is the one that spends a minute behind a door just ticking, warning you it’s gonna come at some point. It grabs everyone’s attention away from the battle and puts people into panicky alert mode. But it just waits in there ticking.

Or the burster that can’t burst. It comes close to you, it seems it’s about to do the jump so you push it, so it just staggers back and doesn’t blow. Then it takes fifty geological eons to stand back up and run for another jump, again mirroring the behind-the-door gooner just standing in there edging while peeking out through the crack.

They can also be pushed towards you by non-players. My “favorite” was a silent hound which pounced through a Bulwark meatwall and pushed back a perfectly pushed away burster into our direction.

Hounds is another special which doesnt get enough hate, with their silly physics, 180 degree a55-first pounces, and their ability to stagger / push you but just by existing near you. The worst coded special in the game. You should not deny player’s control over character Fatshark, ever. That’s a good game design principle.
