Poll: What does Darktide need the most right now?

Simple poll on the actual matters, since the other thread of ColostomyBaguette ( What are your current thoughts on the game that you want Devs to know? ) is getting good traction.
Obviously, most of you would probably cross every answer if you could. The point is to prioritize what matters the most to you right here, right now and have it condensed in a poll so it is summarized easily for Fatshark:

Choose five statements you agree with the most:

  • Darktide needs more balance changes. Some classes and weapons still get the short end of the stick.
  • Darktide needs more bugfixes. Many things don’t work as they should.
  • Darktide needs more content. Getting bored from smashing the Traitor Captain to pieces.
  • Darktide needs more crafting options. Those locks ain’t right, allow us to mold our gear.
  • Darktide needs more crashfixes. I get sent back to my Desktop on the regular.
  • Darktide needs more difficulty. I feel drowsy playing this game.
  • Darktide needs more performance. Still getting a Diashow over here.
  • Darktide needs more quality of life changes. Why can’t I favorite my Lasgun?
  • Darktide needs more story. Greyndyll is just a name to me.
  • Other, you forgot to mention…

If you asked for more content, what would you like to see the most? Choose the one thing you value the most:

  • More areas and missions.
  • More classes and talents.
  • More cutscenes and dialogue.
  • More earnable clothes and armors.
  • More enemies and bosses.
  • More gear and options to customize it.
  • More mission modifiers.
  • I do want it all. I don’t care what’s added first.
  • None of these options represent my opinion.

How do you currently feel about cosmetic content?

  • Positive, I want more in the looks department.
  • Positive, but some new content should be earnable.
  • Mellow. What they have finished should be released since it’s done anyway, but prioritize the game still.
  • Negative. More cosmetic content right now would feel not right to me.
  • Negative. I’d prefer they ditch the cash shop and monetize DLC / expansions instead.
  • None of these options represent how I feel.

As always I will stay out of this one discussion. I hope these options are as unbiased as possible.

Thanks. Fixed.

Just want to explore the hive more really. Fleshing out the story would also be really cool.

Those are the most important things to me personally.

Cosmetic poll shows why the gaming industry is in the horrid state its currently in

Why would anyone even want that ?

Free maps, enemies, and mode is great, if we can get classes as free too, why would you not prefer it ?

Don’t want to pay for cosmetic, then shut up about

You can favorite your Lasguns, by putting it into one of the profiles you can make.
But this is really a good point of QoL demand. To be able to LOCK a weapon, so that you never
have to fear you could Barter or Surrender it for its Blessing by mistake.

Well some of them actually believe in the Ester Bunny. They think that FS would add
free or earn able cosmetics, if they boycott the cash shop.

As long as the game runs fine, they shall feed the shop! There are enough people playing, that are old enough (own income) to afford that stuff. It will keep the game running for longer if they have some form of permanent money flow.

An even better option would be if FS would give you some Aquilas per finished mission. Like you get 0.05 Aquilas for a mission on t1 and 1 on t5. That would be 400 won t5 missions to buy the Psyker Gildaron MK IV Noxlumen googles on the shop.
People who are willing to spend money would buy them and people who don’t could still get them, just some time laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaater.

Darktide needs more players.

New content.

The dream is new enemies and events to accompany maps. Not the Reddit tier stuff like Orks and Chaos Marines, I mean enemies that would actually fit the game, like special weapons stalkers: scabs with plasma and bolters, dregs with revolvers and auto pistols, more unarmored ogryns with ripper guns and fist weapons, bruisers with riot shields. New groaner/pox walker variants on par with bruisers.

I think we’re due for a vehicle enemy and a Sentinel or even a Sentinel turned daemon engine would fit.

Just new things to bash and shoot.

I know it won’t happen, but I can dream

More Nurgle stuff.
Enemies that spit out GOO.
Enemies that are slow but leak the same stuff like the Beast of Nurgle that makes you slow too.

New areas with more sewer pipe sections to fight in.
A mission on a moving train. With inner and roof sections.

A Boss without a shield and just way way more life.
A Boss fight that is basically a giant wave like last stand, where you fight on an open platform elevator with sand backs on the corners. And you have to fend them all off until the elevator platform starts rising.
A Deamon Host for a Boss, that not just flayes endlessly and so relentless like the normal ones. One that switches his target.

I haven’t played in a few days but when I did feel like playing I check current missions and they are all low int dam.
Give us constant HI in dam and Hi int STG available.

It’s crazy how FS has for the second time reused the Krench boss fight mechanics with none of the hype that made Krench memorable (besides the music, absolutely top tier tracks).

They even have the VA’s for Saltzpyre and Kruber voicing traitor captains. Like, c’mon, make them named antagonists and give them real boss phases and bombastic taunts.

Boss battle feels lame anyway. You either have his full attention so he blasts your block ability away in seconds, takes all your toughness with a shield blowout or endlessly shoots at one team member, until this team member gets into his melee range again.

And because he takes all your toughness with that blast, you get swarmed with a small horde so you can replenish toughness. But that small horde takes all the focus away from the boss and you have more trouble with them and the occasionally joining in of trappers, shotgunners and other elites.

The boss alone without small walkers interfere would be way more enjoyable.

Why?
As a business person, would you put money into stuff that earns more money, or into something that does not?

Skin shops finance Skin shops. They also finance the development, but that’s not the focus. That just gets as much attention as it needs. Proof? Any MMO. All of the live service games. (They also usually come with some disgusting form of currency that has to be purchased to buy anything.)

If you don’t have a Skin shop, but earn money via content and dlcs, you are more likely to see more of those. If it is done like in PD2, where anyone can play the hosts map no matter what, that’s also how it is done in VT2, there is no problem at all with that way of earning.

I would much prefer paying for content, than having a skin shop of any kind.

More content:

  • More mission areas that use different styles. Many of the maps feel very samey. The only ones that really stand out as different are the ones outside in the dust and sand. Even the spire maps don’t have a distinct feel to them. Honestly I think a lot of it comes down to the choice of colours being used.
  • More weapon types, NOT weapon variants.
  • More classes and/or subclasses.
  • More mission types.

More balance changes:
Specifically, more frequent balance changes. There is always going to be meta setups, that’s inescapable. Balance changes should be more frequent so that a meta doesn’t last for too long. This is going to mean the crafting system needs changing, since the insane grind that many people report is going to rustle people if their favourite weapon suddenly isn’t meta anymore, as proven by the PS fiasco.

More difficulty:
I’d be satisfied with at least one guaranteed hi-int+ for every difficulty at all times.

More performance:
Optimisation would be amazing. My rig isn’t top of the line anymore, but it can run other, more intensive games with far more consistency and higher frames than DT.

I’m on the fence about monetisation. I hate the live service/MTX model with a passion thanks to how it imposes on the game’s design, but I do recognise that segmenting content with paid expansions and the like does horrible things to the game’s community over time.

A bit of variation like procedural routes through existing maps would freshen them up a little bit.

Almost impossible to choose with this one as Darktide is lacking in so many of these areas. Im tempted to say content for example, more variable talents trees or additional classes may make the relatively stale maps bearable, but with the limitations to end game gearing, slow leveling time, limited character menu, and a handful of other issues, I dont think that would be enough to breathe life back into the game. A LOT of this stuff needs to be added sooner rather than later.

What we got was unfortunately an unfinished game labeled as live service that is basically experiencing a meaningful content drought.

I feel bad because I love FS and feel like i’ve garnered a close relationship with the company over the years, seeing Vermintide grow from V1 to V2 (a game which I consider one of if not the best game of all time.) So Darktide has been immensely disappointing, especially seeing it rife with the same issues that were once problematic in V2 simply returning.

FS needs to try and find the forest through the trees. Do balance patches and minor updates matter? Yes, of course. But the core gameplay is lacking a LOT of substance and weapon / talent tweaking can wait until core problems are fixed.
